Ah, I really thought the Rockets would have more of a chance in this game. Oh well.

Outside of a miracle, the next opportunity for a win looks to be vs. New Orleans on December 6.

Transition defense has been my gripe with him from the very beginning of this season.

And it was in full effect tonight.

One of the first Dort scoring plays from memory was an OKC player bringing the ball up, with a Rockets defender between him and the rim.

Dort on the sideline, Green being Dort's defender in transition.

Green instead chose to run directly to the ballhandler for some strange wannabe double team, which the OKC player passed right to Dort for an uncontested practice layup.

He doesn't have IQ in transition defense - which has been on display time and time again.

The good thing about this is the fact he is only 19, has plenty of time to learn it.

But defense isn't just an on the ball game. Some watchers don't understand that

 

I coach a little league basketball team. I’m about to tell parents this when I don’t play their kids. If it’s working for Silas it’ll probably work for me. Shiiiiiiid

 

14 turnovers is a huge improvement on the 19 they’re averaging on the season

Rockets barely led in 3 point percentage…both teams were absolute trash from three and the line

however, the Rockets shot 36% from the field while OKC shot 45%…that was a much bigger reason for the loss than 14 turnovers which would rank above average in terms of lowest turnovers in the league

 

No way. We can’t be watching the same games. We just can’t be.

All we care about on here is development right?

Green gets completely ignored on offense at times and doesn’t get put in positions to succeed.

Sengun has been underplayed all season (with only 5 minutes tonight LOL)

Christopher and Garuba don’t even play.

And that’s without even getting into the awful rotations, poor effort from the players, bad body language, and the fact he has lost this locker room.

Jalen Green actually made pretty good decisions passing the ball—the only reason he had 2 assists is because our guys couldn’t convert easy shots. This was probably one of his best games tonight, and though his overall defense was average at best his effort level was there at least.

I know your whole schtick is disliking Green while throwing out takes like “oh I truly only want the best for him, he just needs to be in the D-league because he’s the worst rotational player in the NBA, etc.” but this game at least he was creating good opportunities for his teammates and I’m positive that you see it but just choose to ignore and be stubborn for whatever reason.

Mostly they dribble every time. This is huge issue. You have to shoot even if you miss when they are closing in. If they know you are not going to shoot they are just going to stick to you like glue. Especially good defenders like Dort.

 

stop back tracking, you said he was a turnstile and gave up 3 times as many points on defense, which is obviously not true. Green has been really bad with losing his men all year long, he made mistakes tonight too but definitely much fewer than he did in all of the games before. And for once he was pretty good 1 v 1 on the perimeter fighting through screens and defending 1 on 1.

 

He is a Green hater anytime Green has a good game he either hides or works overtime to attack him. Green was one of our better players tonight but he's focusing on the things he did wrong, Im shocked lol

 

I guess finishing at the rim is important too.
