I saw some clips on McVeigh in the Youtube and Olympics games in the summer whose shooting made me very impressive

I watched them in person a large part of the time...and, it stumps me as well at times. Don't give up on him. I've come to accept that he is not getting a lot of shots..he shot 3 of 5 tonight. I've posted many times before 8-10 is his number for most games. I was most disappointed in his defense and rebounding tonight. We'll see what happens. An old Auburn coach, Pat Dye, once said "the least you say the least you have to take back". I try to remember that...it will come back and bite you in the a** majorly.

Agreed. He plays like he understands how to play the game and he can shoot

The Rockets have a history of making stupid decisions, i.e., Kelvin Cato contract,

Yeah, it makes too much sense. Ime would rather put someone in there that can't shoot but thinks they can, and let them dribble all over the place. Reed is gonna leave this mess once he's able. Just no direction or organization.

Stone won’t let his draft picks go.

needs to admit Jabari isn’t him. U got Sengun and Tari late. Good job.

It’s preseason, FVV was out, all the necessary caveats.

Ime’s philosophy seems to have been basically: equal opportunity, everybody eats, everybody gets their turn for their pet moves, make a dribble/pass/shoot decision everytime you catch the ball.

When you do this with a bunch of immature decisionmakers and hesitant shooters, CTE-ball is what you get.

But this team, since last year, badly needs to enforce strict modern offensive principles, not freedom and equal opportunity. Guys need to know their role and stay in it.

    • If the ball gets swung to you at the 3 point line, shoot the f’ing ball
    • Jabari, Tari, Dillon, Cam, Tate, Holiday etc: You are play finishers only. 3’s and at rim. No self creation allowed. You are offensive role players.
    • Run Sengun PnR with Jalen or FVV, or straight Sengun post up every play they’re on the court
    • If Amen is the “PG”, 5 out PnR is the only thing he can do. Don’t try anything else.
    • If Reed is on the court with a bench unit, every possession is Reed PnR or DHO or some off ball screening action. Literally there’s no point to him being on the court if he’s not constantly in the offensive actions

Good offenses just spam the 2 or 3 things they know work, then adjust and punish if the defense warps itself to take those things away. They eliminate the things that don’t work, and everyone knows their role.

You have to have principles to be a good offense. Everybody doesn’t get to eat.

Well, I guess Jalen used up his efficiency in Utah. I hope he's storing it up this game and will use it to explode next time.

Jalen forced things, took bad shots, and played out of control. Jabari was non existent.
