I didn't know that YOFs were as bashful as Yao. Maybe all you YOFs should know this fact right now. There is no way in hell that Rox will EVER trade Yao. So you'd better get used to Yao in Houston for his entire NBA career. We'll make you a Rox fan eventually.
u guys already made tons of fan YOF. We lost? What a joke! Being a ROX fans, ought to be a Bball fans firstly, right?
Cato's offense tonight was like Halley's comet. Van Gundy better not be depending on it game after game. How many guards are going to let Cato thieve them twice in a game and go the length of the court for a layup?
You forgot Yao saying in his head he wants to go back to China so he won't have to deal with Shaq next week.
I'd love to see Yao step up like he did against Shaq last year, but Shaq is in much better shape this time around. If the guards can keep the defense from doubling Yao or cheating toward him, he might be able to hold his own. *Might*.
I wouldn't want to play Shaq too. Van Gundy better consider rotating Yao and Cato on Shaq. If the refs give Shaq his bull move in the post, Yao may get crushed.
Did you read my post? I'm not talking about "two hands vs one hand..." Players like TD, KG and Dirk will change hands if it suites the situation. The issue is, being ambidextrous. I don't know how many times I've seen Yao get his shot blocked because he used his right hand. It's limiting his game. I'm mean, hell! I'm not taking about shooting from 15 feet. I'm talking about switching hands on the dunk or layup. I can't beleve you haven't seen this before? The ablity to switch hands on a move has been done before in the history of the game. Have you missed that part? And when you say, "Most players have one dominant dunk." Yes, that is true. Today....it's sad. By the way, about 5 years ago, I saw the same problem with Francis. He's right hand dominant. That affects his ability to drive on the fast-break and setup the pass. It weakens the effectiveness of the cross-over. Uh, no he's not. "...versatile as a center gets." Take a look at history.
I actually saw Yao used his left hand in a running hook at the Cavs game. The shot went in. I agree with you that Yao should be more versatile around basket. But the problem is that even with his strong hand, he's pretty slow getting up. I think it'd take at least 2 seconds for him to raise his left hand for a dunk.
If you watched the replay carefully on the 4pts play, you'll notice something... something that will make you feel sorry for JVG. Steve was all over Marbury with his body, arms and hand. With the clock running down, JVG starts moving his arms up, outward and to the sides as if he was guarding Marbury and hoping that Steve would move his arms out of the way to prevent any possible calls. Surely enough, Marbury threw his arms up quickly catching Steve arms which was moving slightly downward. The collision looks like an obvious foul. Can't blame the ref for calling that.
Not like I don't want to be a rockets fan, it just too difficult. 1)rockets' ball is ugly. not enjoyable. 2)Some members on this board keep labeling us "YOF". bashing YOF. ( and bashing YOF is right thing to do on this board, on the other hand, steve-only-fan, mobes-only-fan is a different story, what's up with that? )
It's all these stupid votes causing SF so complacent and repeat his mistakes year after year for the past 5 years. How can the Rox be a contending team with such a ineffective PG?
That was a right call. Steve fouled him, no question about it. You gotta know what to do in that kind of situation. I hope Steve will learn it's all about winning, that's it.
How did we lose??? well most of yall summed it up except that the real point that hasnt been made is that steve lost his game with that 3pt free throw and technical.
I watch TD, KG, Dirk about 10-14 games a yr each. I can remember TD use his left once or twice. KG dunks with his left when he is wide open underneath the basket. I think Dirk has a running shot with his left about 5 ft from the basket. I wouldn't say they do that often. I wouldn't say they switch hand in mid air to keep from getting blocked. Most people, even Jordan don't do that. If they shoot with the left, it is their intention to do so from the beginning. Remember the famous Jordan drive down the middle, went up with his right, but pulled back and switched to his left for a lay-up? They must have shown it a hundred times thru the years. He had all the intention to shoot with his left before he left the floor. There was noone there to block the shot with his right, he could have easily laid it in. He just made an unnecessary difficult move. Most of the hand switch from right to left for reverse lay-up are pre-meditate. In the history of the game, which center use 2 hands? I didn't get to see Wilt, Bill Russell except a few replays. Kareem, Parish, Walton, Patrick ... rarely use their left. How many times did u see Hakeem use his left hand? Not only that, tell me how many times you even see Hakeem do a reverse lay-up or reverse dunk? The post player that used his left a lot was Mchale and he had a lot of moves. I saw Yao with a catch and turn around left hand shot in 1 motion against Cleve. just yesterday. He had 1 or 2 hooks with his left a few games back too. IMO, Yao is plenty good with his left hand.
