If only Rick Adelman took AB out when he was getting frustrated for a couple minutes and brought him back in. We would probably be up right now.. We can all tell by the second TO when AB is going to fall apart.. That is when he needs to get a rest so he doesn't completely demolish our chances. We have gone on a great run but I think we gave it away in the third.
Lowry, he IS a winner player. Never a starting PG, in my opinion, but absolutely valid as backup for a contender team. He competes, defends, knows the game, and helps his team at the most difficult moments. He's solid in what he can give you.
The way this team is built we have great shooters (except Ariza) but noone who can distribute the ball. Baseless comparisons? you want to go down the list of great playmakers/passers on contending teams. Bryant LBJ Rondo Gino Nash A. Miller/Roy. there's a lot more.
Isiah Thomas.... Chauncey Billups... Jojo White.... Nate Archibald... Too lazy to look it up, but those come to mind...
It's not the "real PG" that makes them great, it's the defense... Our backcourt is the worst defensive backcourt in the league, or close to it. Rubio is a stud defender.
All GREAT defensive PG's.... Name a championship PG that could not play defense, while being a shoot first PG...
We don't have a traditional first option. That's the whole point of the Rick Adelman offense... the first option is whoever is the most open. I don't know why so many people have their minds stuck in cement about this.
You can't rely on the system the entire time. Eventually the players are gonna have to play off the cuff and make something happen. This season, that usually results in AB driving into a pair of defenders and losing the ball or Ariza throwing up a shot just 'cuz.
Yeah, but all those PG's that you listed also played great defense. Billups and Thomas could shut you down. Brooks is terrible at the defensive end and if his shot isn't falling, he is actually has a negative impact on the game. At least Lowry, if his shot is not falling, gets back at the other end of the floor and can shut down the opposing guard. All, in all, we need to either trade Brooks or bench him in favor of a PASS first PG if we are even gonna think about hanging a championship banner at Toyota Center or having a Championship Parade down Polk Street!
