Yes, this year YAO is solid 18/9 player, no magic will happen, people here: we should accept it!

I don't get why people are so down on Yao today. He played exactly the same way today as he did in the past 15 games (and yet people seem to ignore his performance when we're on great winning streaks). I don't blame this loss on Yao - he gave me exactly what I thought he'd give me. The difference in this game is that TMac didn't come up big in the 4th like he usually does.

Maybe you're right, but just looking at Yao's numbers today is SEVERELY misleading.

All his points came from either dishes or freethrows. I don't think I saw Yao create and make a shot today on his own.

Now on other nights, Yao looks fantastic. Why can't Yao bring that every game? Call that mediocrity but I call that consistency. Why can't he do it?

Translated into 36min, that's 21/10.5, a good stats. Let's hope Yao can pull this number day and night in another 3 years.

Yep, but I believe the Rockets are still a very tough team and will be tough to be come playoffs.

I have to say I take a lot of pride in the Rockets. I love that they are such a tough road team. I wish they would be tougher at home.

These do not look like small hands that make a basketball look like me holding a cantaloupe

This showed a a little bit of your bias. I clearly remembered Yao grabbed an offensive rebound from a Tmac's miss and put it in.

I agree with some of your criticisms of Yao. But you start to lose credibility when your all of your venom is pointed solely on Yao.

Our gaurds got whooped today. Sura often overdribbled and often lacked touch on his passes. None of the guards were worth much shooting wise. And all of those lazy passes.

I thought Yao played a below average game, but it's stupid to say "he's not any good."

Well his heart is not of lion's size, so in a way yes it's asking too much from him.

On a lighter note, maybe he needs some stimulations from an opposite gender. His parents have to get off his back. Why can't they be like Pete Sampras' parents? Yao is a grown man and has needs. Are they gonna continue babysitting him until he turns well into 30s? I mean come on, let Yao be a man, not a big boy. If Rox organization feels it's necessary to bring Yao's girlfriend to Houston, please by all means do it.

Yeah but to blame Tmac is kinda foolish because he did play well throughout the game to keep the rockets in it.

Wesley.....what the heck happened to him today?

and Yao did not assert himself at any point in the game....forget about his numbers.....they don't show how passive he was.

come on, man, what do you mean EASY shot and create by his own? FT doesn't mean anything? a lot of east shots mean our team O is doing great.
It's OK we lost to a very good spurs tonight.

But one point I agree with you, YAO is running out of gas and can not get into the deep.

So if Yao is running out of gas, what can the rockets do about that?

    FLOP and GIVE UP?

This is a little out of track. That's his family issue. None of your business.

Ok, so lets talk about that.

Why were the guards such crap today? DO they not know to BRING IT EVERY SINGLE GAME?

What's the matter with them? Most games I'm impressed by the guards, but why is it they just decided NOT to show up for the ENTIRE GAME of such a high profile game?

I still believe yao will be a solid 22/11 player. He need this big summer, get rest well and improve his skill. Big Z is more skillful than YAO

    A question:

Why almost every game thread, no matter a win like Fri against NO or a loss like today again SA, finally turns into a Yao thread?:D

I get this stuff from Matt Bullard and others who have said that while Yao's small hands hurt him in holding the ball etc, they benefit him by making him a better shooter and give him that soft touch.

That is where I get it from, and if you have seen Yao's hands and compared it to a Shaq, Garnett, or some of the other big men, you will know what I am talking about.

I think he has small hands, but nothing he can do about that.

and his hands are "huge" in comparison to your hands and my hands, but they are small for a 7'6" giant.
