I think this is the third year in a row where Yao has tanked it around this part of the season.

If that's the case then the projections on Post season this guy gets his act together or head straight is seriously in jeopardy.

Without Ming at the top of his game no way can we seriously differentiate ourselves from SAC, Phoenix or Seattle
with our perimeter game being far worse than these teams

the only thing we have against SAC and Seattle is a solid go to guy (T-mac) and possible our D if it shows up

if Ming starts his disintegration like last year and the year before.

I agree that refs always play a factor in the outcome of a game....

but still, if YAO can only prosper and succeed because the refs babysit him, then YAO really does SUCK.

I'm not a YAO hater but man, YAO is not a good player. I really hope he proves me wrong come playoff time......

I am seriously thinking he might not bring into play his max strength today. But even in a sucking play like this game, he still got 18pts. I hope he is saving energy to step up in playoff.:D

Agree, post feed needs to be timed well, we failed to do that. When Yao sealed off his man briefly, you gotta give him the ball for a deep catch, while he's 15 feet out, you gotta play P&R with him.

Yao should hold the ball higher, but even if he doesn't, it shouldn't be that easy to take the ball away from him.

I will never understand why Yao holds the ball so gingerly. As a big man, he should be holding the ball as if he were trying to squeeze the air out of it. Instead, he holds the ball so delicately, like a waiter holding a platter. It's no wonder why players are able to snatch the ball right out of his hands with such ease. Don't cradle that ball like a baby. Squeeze the life out of it.

I hope youre right because YAO is not worth much as a player to this team as of now.

He is a good player. But not that good as you expected.

The team quit, they stopped competing.

    Yao quit
    Tmac quit

    The entire team quit.

They were up by 5, and then SA went on a run, and the Rockets were like a deer in the headlights.

Manu took the game over, he upped the intensity, and our boys did not respond.

We got our butts kicked by a lesser team, who hustled more and played smarter team ball, and much better defense.

Still a long way to go before the Rockets are a real contender.

    DD™

PS. If the refs are going to let you bang underneath than Yao needs to take advantage...and BANG !!!

Yao had a bad game, but seriously, he's not even a GOOD player now?

Yeah and not to mention that Yao is just not very good. I mean can anyone explain how YAO cannot simply put forth the hardcore effort EACH and EVERY single game?

Is that really too much to ask?

What we need is a great former big man to teach Yao.

What? We have one of those already? And he's a coach on the team?!? Huh? The guy with the clipboard?!? He's Yao's big-man coach????

Of course I was venting. But man, that's just the tip of the iceberg of the frustration that I feel whenever I see Yao get exposed in such a lopsided manner in games like these.

Why won't the guy just play hard. I mean I understand the whole passive culture he came from, but work ethic should always be on the same page.

Rockets are playing for the 6th seed. I don't care what Yao does right now as long as he plays BIG in the playoffs. If I could have one wish granted though it would be this, 'for the Rockets to not ever have a playoff game that tips off at noon'

I wondered about that but wouldn't that affect his shot for a quick catch and shoot. It's much more difficult to reorientate the ball to a shooting position if he grabs it so tightly.

I thinks he needs to hold it a bit higher not necessarily over his head but shoulder height so that if someone trys to strip it the ball either goes out of bounds or the guy trying to strip him gets a foul call since the ball is not in a clean position for the easy strip.

you must be a extreme YAo hater.

18 pts/6 rbs, It's OK game. Manu+parker toally over our guards! that's the key. why blame YAO? SURA lost control to his mind.
P-get miss a very easy lapup and they his 3 and whole spurs fire up after that.

be resonable, you act like crown

Gotta get this off my chest...For a guy who's supposedly has soft hands, Yao has major butterfingers. The guy needs some catch drills where his hands become velcro...tip rebounds he loses, going into traffic he loses, going for loose balls he loses...frustrating to watch him because I root for him to do well. I'm not counting the Manu steal because that was from the blindside, way too many other examples point out. Yao, get a grip!

I'm not helping any but I shudder to think of all the troll threads that will result of this loss...

I dont mind bad games as long as the effort is there and the player still made a significant impact in the game.

Like Tmac for instance, he has abysmal shooting nights but his presence on the floor is known because of his overall impact in the game.

In Yao's case, when Yao has a bad game like this afternoon, there is ZERO positive that can be said about Yao's role in the game. Agreed?

Yao is not the problem, our expectations of Yao are the problem. He is what he is: an 18/8 player who challenges you to guess which "Yao" will show up on any given night.

Get used to it people, or otherwise you will keep suffering.

Agreed. Yao knew that Tmac wasn't 100% so he SHOULD have been more agressive. Letting nesterobitch front him all day was unexcusable.
