Yao's been dispointing for the whole game. So was TMac in the fourth quarter. When the game needs our super star to show up in crunch time, it was Ginobili did against us.
Lately Yao has been the most pathetic waste of an overrated player I've seen since...Steve Francis. He can't make those truly awkward shots fading away from the basket. He used to be able to make maybe 60% of them, but not anymore. He can't even make 2 foot shots. In the words of Sura, "That big **** better step up." I love the guy and his potential, but if he doesn't he won't be an effective player in this league and it frustrates everyone.
I'm a Yao Fan as well as a Rockets fan. Yao tore it up in Phoenix with 20+ boards. Today, or recently YAO has simply SUCKED IT UP. What is the Deal with him? The more I watch Yao the more frustrated I get. I really do blame this loss on YAO's incompetence. Forget the fact that the Spurs did a pretty good job of denying YAO the ball....the fact is, YAO SUCKS!!!!! This game should have been won....AGREED???
That's because these types of losses usually stem from Yao being less of a factor. He did not have a good game. But the guard trio of Mike James, Jon Barry and David Wesley have to take responsibility for this loss as well -- they were bad. I agree, but even without Duncan, the Spurs play like a top defensive team. It sucks to fall to this team, but this is still a tough contest playing in San Antonio. The Rockets will be contenders when Yao consistently plays like a top player in this league. Right now he's not capable (and may never be). Excluding shooting touch, is there anything that Yao does better or as well as Mutombo? Top contender, I don't think so. But they are a real darkhorse because if Yao gets hot and McGrady plays like he has been, they will be very tough to knock off 4 times in 7.
Nothing wrong. We beat spurs in our home twice then was beaten by them in their home twice. That's it. Spurs is a good team. Nothing shamed to be beaten in their home. We truly did not do a good job this afternoon. But we have done many in the past. You cannot expect the team to be aggressive every single game.
Tmac did more than his part in this game. If YAO played half as well as he should have, then the Rockets would have won. Seriously, can someone tell me why YAO seriously SUCKS at BASKETBALL so much?? That might sound like a bold statement but why can't YAO put up the 110 effort EVERY SINGLE GAME????
Poor offensive execution and lack of interior defense killed us in this game. Our outside shooting also was terrible. It hurt to see Jon meekly puting up the 3's while Brent was making them easily. I still don't understand why Deke was taken out of the game. He and Yao could have played together in the 4th quarter. T-Mac did a fine job but he settled for outside jumpers in the fourth quarter which was understandable becuase he isn't fully fit. We need younger guards next year who can defend and shoot along with getting an athletic 4 who rebound and defend well.
That Paddget miss layup was momentum killer and resulted a barry 3pt on the other side. It would've been our game to grab had he made it. Also at th 3,4 minute mark, we lost our cool, down by 12, had we made buckets to cut it to less than 6 with a minute to go, we still had game. Instead, Tmac and MJ took two ill advised shots trying to catch up quickly. Man, we could've got this one easily.
I think we need to give credit to the Spurs, even without Tim Duncan, they're really deep with guys that can play good D and knock them open shots. Yao got hacked all day in the paint and no call. TMac & Yao is playing their asses off, we can't survive with just the big two. Other guys needs to knock them some shots, Wesley's usual outside shot is not falling as well. Just an overall bad game for Rockets.
The refs got to understand that what they meant by "let them play physical down on the post" is don't call those ticky tacky fouls. But when a defender puts both of his hands on the offensive player and PUSH HIM AWAY from the basket, IT IS A FOUL no matter what!!!!
becasue he had stone hands Padge got Deke's block Sura grabbed his rebounds and he was a liability on offense (he couldn't catch the ball)
Agreed. I know Yao is capable of those big games. But because of this, there are high expectations, and i dont mean i expect him to average 20pts/20rebs per night. However, i am really discouraged that he can go from a game like that to like 14/5. This is meant to be our superstar. But recently everytime the other team penetrates, i already expect a shooting foul or something, and everytime he has the ball I think he will lose the ball. That was evidenced tonight as soon as he came back in the 4th qtr, 1st thing to ocurr: TO!
you right in that yao sucked, but the refs weren't callin anythig and we all know that if you foul yao he doesn't have the strength to shoot it when he is fouled. so that is why i said when hubie said they are calling it even on both sides by not calling fouls inside, they actually weren't cause it hurt us more than them cause they wont call anything for yao, whereas they weren't losing any calls cause they didn't have an inside game. so i blame this bad game by yao on the refs as much as him. A FOUL IS A $#%@#$% FOUL!! CALL IT!
Yao just dont have the quickness against scrambling defense. It might be better to let Yao and Tmac to play P&R in this kind of game. Yao needs to hold the ball high, when he catches it. Make
Seriously, I watched the game this afternoon, how the heck can you say YAO played his butt off? I've always supported YAO but man enough is enough, why couldn't YAO just tear it up like he did in that tough western road trip 2 weeks ago? And so what if Yao gets hacked, is that reason to just cry and give up? Do you see Shaq crying?
Now that's two outstanding posts. I'll add that this team still don't know how to play through Yao, they never did. It's also because Yao isn't that dominant right now. When everyone is playing well, and Yao play in the flow of the offense, they play well. When they try to force the play through Yao, they struggle, especially against a good defensive team. Look how quick Geno is on the double on Yao's Catch. How can Geno leave his man and ran all the way across the court to steal it from Yao yet our guards don't see it coming, or exploit it?
That replay clearly showed Resho used two hands to pushed away Yao before Gino stripped the ball. That was a foul same as the calling on Sura offensive foul. Bad officiating generallyy tonight, went against us more.
