yao's getting the ball and he isn't getting doubled. He just needs to turn around and shoot. Stop trying to dribble and push closer to the basket, that increases the chance of a TO. And the only way we can slow parker right now is have Yao come out and help AB. which leaves someone else open and creates defensive holes. I'd much rather see Lowry guarding Parker honestly, then Yao doesn't have to help out so much.
I haven't seen Yao gets the ball while moving toward the middle ever since Alston left Rox. Getting the ball under the basket is also extremely rare now. Now every shot by Yao is hard earned with less FTs and more TOs.
a good note is Finely burned us last game for 17 points and took 14 shots....this game...he has taken 0 shots and has 0 points so far
Withtout TOs he's only getting 8 to 10 times. Not enough, but Yao doesn't deserve that many touches in the first half, anyway.
Yao just having a bad game. They are playing behind him and one on one. This is usually really bad for the other team as Yao gets all the shots...he just dribbling the ball and he's allowing San Antonio to make him uncomfortable on his shots it seems. We gotta keep giving it to him though, we live and die by him and if he can get going then I feel confident we can win...but you never know with the Spurs. We can do everything right and the secondhalf and still lose by some buzzer beating half court 3 point heave at the end of the 3rd qtr...
Start Lowry in the second half, go to Yao early and often, the rest of the guys move and cut to the basket like hell!
When Parker plays put Lowry on. I don't mind Parker going one on one and getting his points but don't let him involve his team mates. Most of Duncan's points were from passes from TP. Take the play-making from Parker and the Spurs will stop scoring at will.
Also....Put in James White. In sports, guys always play better against former teams... James White = Former Spurs player Put em in coach and watch him go for 20
Yao needs to have his foot in the paint without dribbling and Lowry needs to play when Parker is in the game rather than Brooks. Yao's screens are a weapon because of his size, use them more. I saw Lowry and Artest get clean shots coming off of his screens.
This isnt an adjustment situation. Its all on Yao. He is getting the ball in decent position, he just keeps losing it. Thats the Spurs defense for you.
I have never understood that. I guess he does it to get his balance. It would seem like he would never want to put it on the floor. I wish Yao would just catch and shoot. First half observations: Parker can do anything he wants with A.B., Yao had a horrible first half, just terrible, the reserves looked better than the starters, and Scola is on his game. Lowery is about to become the starter or at least get more minutes. This game is winnable.
