Dude, we are gonna get smoked. No ifs ands or buts. Our D, other than in the 4th quarter, has been horrible lately. They will bury us alive early.
This would be a huge upset if we win even if T-Mac does play. Rox have to shoot 50% to have any sort of chance.
The Clippers beat the spurs with Brand scoring 30, and Cassell scoring 15 and dishing out 11 assists. Yao must hit the 30 point mark and Rafer has to play well for us to have a chance.
My Prediction: 1. TMac will play. 2. Spurs take a nap. 3. No "Last-35-Seconds" Magic this time. 4. ROX win easily. I just KNOW it.
I'm not worried about our defense, that seems pretty solid. My fear is abad shooting start by wesley/howard/alston and the Spurs just collapse on Yao like they did around 34 when it started rough back then. A bunch of trees and Yoa getting fouls for elbows and cr*p like that. Paker and ginolbli are going to score, or at least take it directly to the rim against Yao. Maybe a couple rejections in the middle by Yoazilla on duncan and Parker will reduce THEM to jump shooting, which would be to our benefit. go rockets ! p.s. I have already patented Yaozilla..don't even bother! Donald Trump
Not really. Rox-Spurs games have historically been low-scoring affairs (not surprising given both coaches are defensive-minded and try to control the pace of the game). If we can stop Tony Parker's penetration and do a decent job on the perimeter (don't let Manu/Horry/Bowen/Finley kill us), we might actually have a chance. With Yao on the inside we have an interior advantage over them -- Yao > TD by miles right now.
this last couple of days are so boring if it's not for r2k... can't thank you enough. i hope tmac doesn't feel bored and recover from his low point. and we'll have a good game against one of the best in the league.
The Spurs have two very good penetrators on their team Manu and Parker. Who will keep them out of the paint for the Rockets? They'll drive it to the basket and Yao will get in early foul trouble and if T-Mac is not on the floor the Rockets won't have a chance in this one. On the bright side if we do some how beat them it will break something like a six year drought in San Antonio for the Rockets.
Spurs may be the team which is best at getting Yao into foul trouble. Both Parker and Ginobelli are lightning quick to penetrate into the paint. Yao will have a handful to stop these two dudes and Duncan down low.
Unlike many of you, I just don't think this is a do-or-die game and I am quite pessimistic about its outcome. I watched briefly last week the SAS vs POR game and was really impressed with Spurs' spacing (between their players) and offensive prowess. The addition of Michael Finley in the off season proves to be a huge bonus for them, unlike our acquisition of DA. If T-Mac is not playing (or not 100% if he does play), I can hardly see we win this game. Yao may still get his Hakeem-esque numbers, but it would matter little. I hope I am wrong though.
A tough game, Hope we can get win. YAO needs step up, 25 points not enough. 35 might do it. if TMAC can play 25 mins and get 20 points, it would be great
This will be the defining moment or game for yao. he is gonna get doubled by duncan and nazar mohamad constantly. if he can keep his recent form against those two, then he is for real.
yao's percentage will down 7-16 score like 23, 11 reb, 3 block Tmac will not play. We need hit our 3s and D very hard on their 3s. StroM will a beast. Bogans do very well. JH hits all his mid-r Rockets win 92-89
I think the key is to somewhat contain Parker & Manu, I don't know if we got anyone that can at least slow these guys down. If not, we're gonna be in a for a long night. There's no question in my mind Yao is gonna do his thing, and do even more to win this game. I hope Stro can have a career game to help Yao out especially if Manu & Parker going in at will on us. Luther Head starting to knock down 3 pointer like free throws. We have pretty good shot at winning this game. So don't give up now, guys. Rockets 94 Spurs 92
Bogans had a couple of games where it seems like he was Mr. Roadblock, taking charges left, right and <strike>center</strike> middle. If he can duplicate that performance and even step it up a notch, that might help slow down the dribble penetration a bit. Time for speed bump tactics, perhaps?
