I am extremely worried that Rox would get a lower draft pick and waste it on JJ. It looks like Rox would get a lower draft pick by working so hard for the playoff. Anybody who has been on the basketball for 5 years should remember who that last GREAT SHOOTER from Duke is and know if he is still in the league!!! The incompetent Cleveland GM picked that last GREAT Shooter from DUKE and that shooter has been out of the league very soon. If I were a GM, I would never trust any player out of Duke. Coach K has a great system in producing numbers, everyyear, they have a great shooter, but these shooters always disappoint in the NBA.
I agree. IMHO, JJ is not built for NBA style game. He is a product of an excellent Duke system. He is not good enough a ball-handler, neither does he have very good court vision to be a NBA point guard. And he is undersized to be a shooting guard. Players will post on him all day. With his style of play, he would have to become another Ray Allen to be good in the league. I dont see it happening.
I suppose you have taken probability or maybe not? If Rox has the worst record in the league, it would be nearly impossible for them not to get a top 3 pick. A top 3 pick has a lot of value in the open trade market at least for you to get a mid-talent. By the way, how do you know the Rox lose on purpose? The Rox has been decimated it should not be surprising for them to lose every game the rest of the way. Oh, first things first, Rox can start with sitting Wesley out for the rest of the season.
I BLAME DIS ON J-HOWARD AND HIS CHOKE FEST....MOFO AINT HIT A SHOT WHOLE FIRST HALF..AINT BLOCK OUT AND DIDNT PLAY D...SMH AT LOOKING AT REBOUNDS AND RUNNING FROM TRAPS
JJ is 6'4. Our starting SG now is what, 6'2? Sun 12, did the last great shooter from Duke have Ming and Mcgrady to get him open looks all day long? I am not saying JJ is great or can carry a team, but I think he could do well on a team as a roleplayer who just has to shoot, not throw the ball away and play some ok D.
That's laughable. If we lost every single game, we still wouldn't have a 50% chance of getting a top 3 pick. You would have to count on the 10 teams below us going at least 8-3 in the rest of their games. Good luck in that happening. I don't think NY and Charlotte will even go 6-5.
If all you want is a shooter to knock down 3s on a Ming kickout, try the "Alaskian assassian" Trajan Langdon and sign him to a 10 day contract. He won't be much worse than RedMeat.
Duke players seem to be cursed. There have been successful players such as Grant Hill, Elton Brand, Boozer, and Shane Battier. They either get stuck on crap teams or get injured easily. Boozer was a draft gem in the 2nd round.
Chris Duhon has been playing pretty well.. I would think JJ Redick will be more like Christian Laetner tho. Unstoppable against college defense but will crumble in the NBA.
Forgot about him and J-Will. J-Will got injured before I got a chance to see him play. I don't know if he was good or bad. At first, I was all for JJ, but I agree with your assessment. I think this year's draft will be the weak compared to the 2007 and 2008 draft, because of the age limit.
When did Langdon put up numbers like JJ at Duke? The numbers from his senior season barely surpass JJ's freshman season numbers. Langdon: http://www.ibiblio.org/craig/draft/1999_draft/Players/langdon.html JJ: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=11144
turning point of game = rox down by 4 and alston driving to the hole on a fast break and just throws it up.
Langdon played with Brand, William Avery, Shane Battier and those Dukie teams were just more deep than the current one that is really a two-men team. BTW, Dukie won't reach the FF this year. Book it.
Interesting quote from Yao about SA defense http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=260312024 Yao said he had problems with the Spurs' defense. "They just double-team so hard," he said. "Usually I can at least see the floor, find the open man for a look at the basket. But Bruce Bowen, his finger was almost in my eye a couple of times. I couldn't see the weak side to find that open man."
