It's not a question of a lack of pride in the Rockets but rather one of realism. This team is not (yet) at the Spurs level and it will some time before we can consider it to be so. Against superior teams like the Spurs, their deficiencies are magnified. As I see it, they have several things going against them in this game. First, their East Coast style of basketball (keep it down around 80 points) is not really suited for the Western Conference although the Spurs can play that style very well (see last year's NBA Finals). Next, they are a miserable road team (witness the debacle in Dallas on Saturday). Finally, they just struggled through 3 OTs against the sad-sack Hawks who took a page from the Mavericks and played zone. The Rockets have conclusively demonstrated that they don't know how to play against the zone (that'll be next year...maybe). I've maintained all along that for this year, the Rockets have to prove themselves on the court and not through Rockets PR releases and sound bytes. What I've seen so far is an average NBA team stuck somewhere in the 43-49 win zone. A team that's good but not quite good enough.
The Rockets are 11-0 when Mobley scores 20 or more. The Rockets are 12-6 when Mobley attempts 15 or more shots.
I like this statistic, I think the Rockets are going to win tonight. If anything, I'm excited to watch the game, because I know we can win. Whether we do or not, it's going to be a good game.
Is anyone from H-town or Austin or San Antonio going to the game tonight? Theres a slight chance I might get a ticket...but I'm waiting on the hot chick to flake on my friend before I know!
steve better play some defense. Other point guards always tourch him. The rockets will start off slow but pick it up in the 4th. But we still lose.
i hope they can win tonight. on the other hand, after a game like last, they must be awfully tired and are going to face the spurs at their home. so ...
WHERE CAN YOU LISTEN TO THIS GAME STREAMED ONLINE?! i have to work tonight oh. and rockets win 87-85!!!!!!!!
Shaq, and potentially Yao, are the only true dominate big man in the league. KG and TD are not that "big"... BTW, Vegas odds are Spurs by 6. Go Rockets and prove them wrong!
I think Rox are going to take this one by the narrowest of margins. The crucial thing is for the Rox to hold strong coming out of half-time. Also, someone has GOT TO STOP the penetrating Ginobilli. You know we will double TD every time down the post. You know Francis is going to abuse Parker. But Ginobili is a very erratic and unpredictable player who is just way too talented and skilled to be running around out there. He can create his own shots and he can cause turn over problems for us. Remember, for us to win this game, WE NEED TO CONTAIN GINOBILLI!
Instead of Hack-a-Shaq, we need to employ Hack-a-Duncan. That guy can't shoot freethrows and this will help us contain their offense and slow the game down.
Because by general consensus, Spurs are a "boring" team. Kings, Mavs, Lakers, and even Timberwolves are more exciting to watch on TV. We do have a lot of games on ESPN and TNT the rest of season though.
