why should he....you guys dont think twice about adding dirt into your posts. maybe you should ask if something is true before ranting about it...it would make you look less assinine.
He will have had FIVE years. Now its much more important to develop the Team Game arround Yao Ming than waiting another year for the Franchise to make up his mind.Sorry but Steve is writing his own Epitaph by his attituded of negativity and his couldnt care less way of playing. The Rockets expected much from Francis and he has been paid a lot of money. With this in mind he should become a model Team player for the remaining Games, if he realy wants to stay on the Rockets. By his signals he doesn't seem to care to remain on the Rockets.
After tonight, the Rockets are now 2 games behind the Grizzlies. You read that right people, the freakin' Grizzlies!!!!!! I mean, I just can't believe it, there's just something wrong with that. It just shouldn't be that way.
The guards did not freeze yao out, when ever they would try to get him the ball TD would be right behind yao or yao would be pushed by rasho, the spurs just played a heck of a defensive game against yao, i saw that every time that the guards tried to get him the ball.... but the officiating was bad The rockets can learn alot from the spurs, on defense...
In past years..I would agree with that. but have you seen the GRizz play?? my god.... Hubie the Undead and the Logo have done a helluva job with those guys. YETTI....You are being called out...do you dare respond? just when I thought you couldnt get anymore absurd... you crank up the ceiling... you can say alot of things about Francis...and most of them would be true......but to say he doesnt care about winning is assinine even for you. What attitude of negativity do you mean...care to provide some examples? you mean his shooting slump? his subjegating his game for the team?(shooting less) Surely you cant be referring to things in the far past....like draft day..or even the debacle of the superbowl... to look honestly at Francis' game and say he hasnt even tried to change would be disingenous even for you. Im not saying that he has been successful trying to change...but to say he hasnt tried and couldnt care less about doing so is patently untrue... again with the 5 years thing... has it occured to you that just maybe he wasnt asked to change till THIS YEAR??? so at worst...you could say...."He has had over half a season and hasnt been able to totally change to playing team game" because truthfully............that has been the length of time that he has been trying to change. What relevance does the '5 year' mantra have to what has been occuring with him THIS YEAR? I know Im wasting my time...cause you almost NEVER respond when people call you on the bs you write. but at least people will see that you dont have the guts to defend your words.
I normally stayed out of the bashing contest but this is just ridiculous. I didn't know that poor SF was playing all these years without adequate pay. For what SF is making, I'd work twice as hard as him and for sure you will never catch me missing a team flight. When I get my performance evaluation from my boss, I never get any bonus point for "working my A$$ off". I get points for making my milestones and for delivering what I am getting paid for. SF should be evaluated the same way. No excuses.
I agree that the PF's didn't show but SF once again didn't look like a franchise player. He shot 5-12, was 5-8 from the line with just 2 turnovers and only 2 assists. The one word for those numbers isn't 'great', it isn't even 'good', its just 'ok'. Parker had a similar game (5-12) but had a bad 7 turnovers and 7 assists. SF is not taking over games, nor is he a factor for 'worry' from the opposing teams. In fact they HOPE he shoots 20 times because they know if he does we will lose. Perhaps a different situation would be better for SF.
Has steve been working his a$$ off? He does try his hardest on the court, but thats not all of it. For a max player he needs to set an example for the rest of the team. look at kg, even though he is younger then latrell and cassel they follow him and practice just like him. Do you see a major increase in his stats from year to year? Is he making the proper adjustments he needs. Is he trying to work on his shot or better his passing. If he is then i guess im not hearing about it. How long does it really take to adjust to a new system. At the rate steve is going its going to be more then this season.
I totally agree. Hard-working I guess it's essential for a professional, and it's just basic. What really matters after your hard-working is your ability to work smart and deliver. I didn't get full bonus for last year, my boss didn't question my heart or hard-working, but he said he expected more from me, and he was 100% sure that I could deliver more, even some of the tasks were not in my responsibilities. I never question Steve's hustle and passion for the game, but I do question his ability to observe the game and adjust accordingly. He's a max player and we call him Franchise, that's why people are not willing to tolerate his stubbornes any more. Yes, it sounds unfair, but it is so, and it's been always so in NBA. If you want to enjoy the fame, you have to take the blame and burden at first.
heh..glad to see you are still around Sage...hadnt seen ya over at the other board in some time... I agree...the Grizz are not contenders yet....but they are potential playoff makers. They wont get out of the first round...but I could see them making it that far. Just like the Rockets, once they see what they have this year...dont be surprised to see them make some moves to fill some holes... Rockets will do the same...we see what we have this year...and make some move(s) to address needs. I just honestly hope Francis can get his stuff together and do things the right way. I would say he is at about 50% now... Gotta give some credit to Gino...that cat is some hella player... Mobley did a good job on him when he was matched against him...but Gino is getting to be harder and harder to stop...you have to be almost a defensive stud to even slow him down. We played them well for 3 quarters....but when it came down to crunch time...SA executed their gameplan...and we didnt. You saw tonight why SA has the league leading defense...they play the passsing lanes as well as anyone in the league...adn stay all up on you at all times. SuperK... SF did not do good..but he didnt do bad either...it was a soso performance....his assists would have been more if anyone could hit. Also...for whatever reason...Cat seemed to get alot of the assists that Francis normally gets.. Ill say this much...at least he didnt turn over the ball as often as normal...but dont underestimate the effect that our lack of production from the 4 hurt us. We couldnt stop Duncan...we couldnt rebound...we had virtually noone helping Yao shut down the paint.
you and Dreamweaver answer me this... when does the evaluation occur at your jobs? yearly? at the end of the year? well...since the new boss has only been here since this year began...and SF has only been getting max for this season so far... dont you believe it would be fair to hold off on the evaluations till the end of the year? ok...say you (for whatever reason) were not accomplishing your goal for the year at the middle of the evaluation period....would you like it if the boss or your coworkers came along and b****ed at you all the time about not getting your goals accomplished in the middle of the time alloted?? That what I dont understand.... Adjustment has been underway for just over half the time alloted....and we cant say we dont see progress...(or those of us who dont have an agenda can't say it) Rest assured...if he fails to meet his objective...do you honestly think that management wont make moves to rectify the situation? I am willing to sit tight and wait and see....considering that he will not be waived..and cant be traded till the offseason...what is the purpose in all the vitrol? Does it make you feel better to rant and rail against things that wont be changed for some time?
Agreed that they are no championship contender, and they are not talking about it either. They will be just joyful to be in the playoffs. So should we, the Rockets should keep focused and play hard and smart as if it is their last game. I don't like the talks about who we would like to choose as opponent in the playoffs, and how far we can go etc. We haven't been in playoffs for 4 years, and now we see our chance, let's just grab that. I don't see playoff as a given. As you said, the chemistry is not yet right. I really hate to see those players inflating their ego and pumping up their super confidence. Grizzles played better and smarter games, because they follow a system suits them. I can not say that about the Rockets. Our players don't know what it takes to win, because they never won before. Therefore, the first playoff experience is so essential to them, even if it might be a sweep in the first round. I guess we'd better not laugh at other teams.
I guess we as fans are evaluatiing SF3. Those paid customers (not including me) are actually the boss, at least on this bbs. JVG is the new sheriff in town, he kept praising SF3, no matter what he really thinks, at least I don't know. Those fans have watched him almost 5 years. Most of them here are NOT talking about the new system, but SF3's ability to adapt himself to the game. You can't say I can only play this way, no matter who I am playing with and who I am playing against and whatever the rule changes are. That's not confidence, that's just plain ignorance incompetent. Because you see the results. Zone defence jsut doesn't allow his ISO plays. Some of you are saying that JVG's poor leastern system killed his play. But don't you realize that he's not following the new system consistantly, as some of you said that he's still trying really really hard to adapt. That means sometimes he's still playing his way, as he admitted. Did you see success? No. Why? Zone defense. It's not hard to realize something doesn't work, but it takes smarts and ability to change to make it work again. And some of us just don't see him doing that.
Let me state again that I have no intention of bashing any of the players. I do find it very annoying that someone would use this "worked his a$$ off" cliche to excuse SF's performance. By the way, I am not sure what you do for a living but in my line of work, if you fail to meet your milestones a few times, you'd be out on the street looking for a job. Is it fair to SF for us outsiders to criticize his overall performance when we probably don't know as much as he does about his work? Hell, yeah, it is extremely unfair, but when you are making obscene amount of money, expect the unreasonable.
Good point. I really hope that the Rox haven't thought that they are a lock for the playoffs, they have to continue to work hard. Just an adequate losing streak will put their offseason hopes in jeopardy, and for sure, heads will roll.
This game would have been a good measuring stick for the ROX. Both teams have great defensive, great big men, and similar overall talent on paper. The Spurs just have more discipline (or stick to itness for Francis), more offensive possessions due to low TO and defense, and better coaching. Rox has gambled with the backcourt situation for 2 years and are just praying that things will work out "in next 30 games". They weren't average tonight but MoT, JJ, and Cato just mailed it in. For Yao, the only english lesson he needs for him and Rox to be successful is reading Keyshawn's bestseller, "Just Gimme the F*cking Damn Ball" every night over and over and over.
