I meant Yao and T-MAC's lack of tougness and leadership. I don't think Rox is short of talent even without Sura. Now the steak is starting and heading to 3.
Henrock - Where are u getting this from. Don't see anything in the public press or sports shows about these trades. Link please.
I suggest you tell me a team in the NBA that is stacked talent-wise that would have Weatherspoon and Strickland play major minutes for them. In the zone defense era, there can't be a bunch of weak links in the lineup or else the opposing defense will compensate and not even guard the weak links.
Seriously, JVG should let MoT play. If you are not going to trade him, it is better to let MoT play instead of let $8 mil/year rot on the bench. Mot can at least score.
dude it happened...its done turn on the TV http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/basketball/apbasketball_story.asp?category=2030&slug=BKN Webber Trade http://www.sacbee.com/content/sports/basketball/kings/story/12434314p-13290583c.html http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/news/breaking_news/10975873.htm
It is true---this is from ESPN Insider.... Sixers send Three to Kings, and Others.... The Sixers would send Kenny Thomas, Corliss Williamson and Brian Skinner to the Kings in exchange for Webber, Matt Barnes and Michael Bradley. The Kings have called a news conference for midnight ET to announce the trade. The fact that Webber was on the block should come as no surprise to Kings fans. General manager Geoff Petrie had been shopping Webber for some time. The Kings have been concerned about team chemistry and how the offense often stagnates with Webber in the game. The Knicks were trying to acquire Webber for weeks and looked like the only team with an owner willing to swallow the last three years and $62 million of his deal. What is surprising, however, is what the Kings will get from the 76ers in return. None of the three players the Kings receive are as talented as Webber. Each has been struggling this year and all three have long-term contracts equal to the three years, $62 million left on Webber's deal. In other words, this isn't a salary dump by the Kings. Thomas has five years and $39 million left on his deal, plus a 15 percent trade kicker that will raise his salary higher. Williams has two years and $12.5 million left on his deal. Skinner has one year and $4.9 million left on his contract plus another year at $5.4 million that is 75 percent guaranteed. While the Kings lose some star power, they do acquire some depth … something that has been sorely needed in Sacramento the past two seasons. Once the trade does become official, look for it to seriously end discussions of a Peja Stojakovic trade. Stojakovic wanted out, in part, because of a poor relationship with Webber both on and off the court. With Webber gone, his trade demands will likely end. Chad Ford covers the NBA for ESPN Insider.
Maybe....just maybe Mac is not that special. He is probably a wee level just below Kobe, Lebron, Duncan, Dirk, etc. But I will still take him because Mac and Yao + JVG is usually greater than our opponents on most night. Not many teams are as lucky as we are.
As I just checked Box score, our starters have actually out-scored Spurs' starters despite played less minutes (mainly because of Yao's foul trouble). Spurs bench really hammered us. Other than Mutombo's rebounding and defense, our bench did not contribute anything. They did not even make ONE freaking field goal.
Is Reece Gaines even really injured? If he's not, we've all seen how bad Strickland really is so let's either cut his ass or bench him & give the younger guy a look.
