This is a pretty dumb comment. The point of using the rest of his game is for games like this...how do you beat tough interior D, step out and hit the shot to open up the inside....Raso that scrub has made a career of it and has been effective...so if you can add that to Yao's game(which we know he can) ...it would make him that much more dangerous...I don't think anyone disses Dirk for being able to do that....think before you speak..

That's asking too much of someone like him.

Exactly. He was 2-11 when it counted and accomplished that by driving into nowhere possession after possession instead of trying to make plays for his teammates. Now that he's playing against the 3rd stringers, he's got his skipping swagger back and is probably talking about himself in 3rd person again.

By the way, Sean Elliot needs to STFU.

It's not usual for me to bash anybody, but I think Stevie just has the mentality of people saying "Good job, Steve. You are the leading scorer of the team and you are our leader. Forget it, Spurs is the defending Champion..." and all that crap.

    A simple question for Steve:
Why don't you take 100 shots to score 40 points? If you do that, you will be the MVP this year.

I bet you do need more than your tiny American dictionary. English Comprehension 101 is really what you need, bro. Where did I say in my posts that 15 footers should be his MAIN, please pay attention, MAIN part of his offense. Please respond.

It is sad fact of life. He has been outplayed by opposing pg almost every game. He is also selfish. A $80 million bust.

I didn't say that he cant supplement his game? I said that that's not whats the main problem. So, we establish Yao at the 15 foot range. Then what? Yes, we have to go right back down and establish a inside presence. You are just delaying the inevitable.

Dirk is not a center that has a problem with being aggressive. He's earned the right to go out and shoot 15 footers becaue he's a foward. And that's his game. Again, you do know that Yao is a center right? And that his strength should be on the inside right? You do know that Dirk is a foward? Dirk can be agressive on the inside as well.

P.S. And where would Raso be if TD wasn't on the team? Raso is not the "main man." Different standard. Or would you build a team around Raso?

I know you WANT the 15 footer. But explain to me what the above sentence means?

Does it mean that Yao should not be agressive? That he should not bang? That it's imposible for him to devepe an aggressive attitude?

It was you that said that "we want him to be like Shaq." I don't. I've explained that.

Does Steve know how to be a leader on the court? If he is not making players around him better, then he is absolutely a $80 million bust. He has no excuse. Who else on the team makes that kind of money?

Only the Basketball God can save this rocket team. But the Jesus JVG is obviously having some problems handling those Evils, namely "SF nobrainer driving", "YM 15 footer" and maybe the whole term "Offense".

By the way, I wasn't talking about Yao's offense. I was talking about "aggressiveness" in the most general sense of the word. Even if Yao was to establish a 15 foot presence (outside shot). We'd still have the problem of "lack of aggressiveness." Yes, it would follow him out there too.

I guess you are too lazy to read someone's posts before you start attacking. I was only making the point that there should be plays, some but not all, that set up Yao for an open 15 footers. That will not only save him more energy when he goes inside, but also draw out the defense and create more scoring opportunities. Almost all other top centers in the league, of course except Shaq, do that all the times. Big Z does it on a regular basis, and he is not that much smaller than Yao. I have criticized many here just want him to stay inside the paint and keep on banging for positions. I never, NEVER SAID YOU want him to be like Shaq. Yo, you are the one jumping on me without reading my posts.

The defending champs schooled us properly, as they should on their homecourt. The real bad sign is we couldn't hold serve in Toyota Center a couple nights ago when they (the Spurs) played like an average High School girls team.

Yao possesses amazing gifts, unprecendented gifts in a man his size, but he needs to develop more consistancy and toughness (both physical and mental) to go from being an occasionally dominant sideshow, to being the key element of a championship team and a true superstar. As it stands if the person guarding him is tenacious they can push him out of his position and quite literally tear the ball out of his hands.

We have a pair of guards with tremendous offensive skills, but who are ISO guys by training and temperment. Now they are confronted with a coach who expects them to run an actual offence, and play actual team defense.

The keys to this season are how much mental toughness Yao can add to his game over the course of this season (the physical toughness will have to come from an offseason regimen, if we can keep him out of psuedo meaningless international competitions) and how well JVG can convince Stevie and Cat to buy into his concept. At times, Stevie seems to really have a good grasp on what we are trying to do...but when the going gets rough he still wants to dribble near the half court line until there are 5 seconds left on the shot clock and then try to penetrate, or take a fadeaway buzzer beater from behind the arc.

Rockets fans should root for Lakers to beat Portland tonight. I have a feeling that the final three playoff spots will come down to Portland, Utah, Memphis, Denver and Houston. Two of these teams will not make it. Denver will probably fold since they had a soft schedule so far. So, it's between Portland, Utah, Memphis and Houston for 3 playoff spots.
