Its a carbon copy of last season... it just takes awhile with JVG-led teams that have a bunch of new players. Head/Swift will get better at the defensive help, and offensive spacing... T-mac will find his legs again... Yao will find the balance of playing "no-foul" defense and "too much foul" defense... Barry/Wesley (not DA) will be the primary spot up shooters they need to be... Mutombo will provide his 10 minutes of valuable bench time... Sura will re-claim the starting spot and soon play 40 minutes a game... and Howard will root them on from the bench.

    You'll see... it will happen.

Tony Parker rapping in French makes me think the whole "Freedom Fries" thing wasn't so stupid.

Imagin these shots had been taken by Yao, the game would've been tied heading into 2nd half.

How do you figure that? Yao's shooting percentage is below 50 as well.

that may be, but at least head is fighting back on offense. if you can't play defense then you should at least hit open shots on offense.

we need sura badly but relying on him isn't the answer it's just a band-aid. he can't be our heart and soul. tmac or yao needs to bring that for us and i tihnk it may be a blessing in disguise that bobby is out. hopefully one of those two will become our heart and soul.

JVG is just not a great coach. I don't believe he could take Rox to Championship level.

What could Sura do..... No more than what is happening to these guys.

Pop is smart and exploiting our weakness.

    a) On the older guards, he has the Spurs spreading the court so TP and Manu can take them off the dribble... They are too slow.

    b) On the younger guards, he using the pick-n-roll to take advantage of our big men.

    Just basic basketball....

    At the half:

    Yao: 18pts, 3 reb
    McGrady: 4pts, 4 reb
    Anderson: 2pts, 2 reb
    Howard: 0 pts, 3 reb
    Alston: 0 pts, 2 reb

    Head: 8pts, 0 reb
    Swift: 4 pts, 0 reb
    Mutombo: 0 pts, 1 reb

McGrady did not score a field goal in the first half (his 4 pts came from free throws).

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.
If we don't put on pressure from the perimeter, they'll clog the lane
If they clog the lane, they'll shut down Yao.
If they shut down Yao, we will lose.

In the 2nd half, look for the Spurs to front Yao and clog the lane (shutting him down). Are guards are not making them pay.

Does it take a genius to figure that out? Below 50%, what are you talking about? It's 8-16, brah!

I don't see much YOF but you keep on hating him from the start of the game. What's your beef with Yao?

He can't be... but until Head gets more comfortable with the NBA (he is a rookie, after all), he has to be.

This system doesn't suit Alston... I'm having flashbacks of watching Francis try to adapt out there, but only this time Alston doesn't have that "franchise" label to demand the ball. He may eventually buy into it... but you can tell for now that he's trying too hard to attempt to do everything "as its supposed to be done", instead of letting the game just come to him (which is what Sura was so good at).

Sura just gets the offense into gear 2-3 seconds faster than any of these other guys can... that 2-3 seconds is huge when you expand that to every possesion for every game.

He is 8-16 for 50% so far in the game. The most surprising thing about Yao is that he has played 21 min in the first half and he does not look tired at all.

I have no beef with Yao... I love Yao, and the Rockets.

I hate YOF... and their ability to make this place miserable when Yao has a bad game when the Rockets win, and for this place to be relatively benign when Yao has a good game, but the Rockets get their asses handed to them.

You play to win the game... not to get Yao to have a good game. I'll take a win.

If my memory is correct you guys were B***ching last year about how Sura SUCKED at the point... especially in the playoffs.. Where he also got burned by the Dallas guards.

What was the named that was used... Flopper.. for falling down so much.

No way in HELL is Sura quick enough to match up with TP or Manu....

I thought we were suppose to get quicker with our new additions? To me we cant even come close on keeping up with the spurs backcourt. Man we suck.

I guess I'm getting frustrated watching the way the rockets are playing right now, It's making my stomach sick.

Note to Rockets: Wake up your getting paid... suck it up bitc$$
