Let's see now. He's 1" taller than Hayes and grabs 19 boards(8 offensive). Here's the stat that sticks out to me. He shot 5-16. He missed 11 shots from underneath the basket against our reserve(in a normal year) centers. He didn't even get all his own missed shots. A Moses Malone he ain't.

Blair, if he doesn't get injured, will be a solid rotation piece for the Spurs. He will average at least 20 mpg and it wouldn't surprise me if he squeezed a 10/10 season out.

Taylor, on the other hand, doesn't have a shot in hades of making our rotation and if we didn't have such a big investment in him, he probably wouldn't have a chance of making the team. Taylor will not contribute this year.

Did anyone else notice that Ariza couldn't go left? He would fake left then go right. I hope to baby jesus that he can handle the ball better...

Yeah, I am pretty notorious for wanting the best PG on the team to start.

Did you miss the article that specifically stated Brooks/Lowry are battling for the starter's job?

His handle was absolutely horrendous. He was tripping over his own feet and losing the bball walking it up over halfcourt with nobody on him. Dog I sure hope that isn't a sign of things to come. But at this point, I don't think he can handle. I think he should get out on the wing and fly up and down the wing the way James Worthy used to do, just receive the pass and take it to the rim and forget everything else but cramming it down.

If indeed it turns out to be that he CANNOT handle the ball, he will have to move well without the ball and hope that AB will give up some of his FB points for him. He better do something to develop those handles...he did look somewhat shaky out there, hoping it was just game jitters.

    7:30.

Is the big three going to play for Boston, sans Garnett?

I would like to see how Budinger and Ariza handle Allen and Pierce.

Yeah, he does not have a good handle per se.

Great observations! That's been my biggest point when people expect him to become "Tracy" like offensively.
Tracy has point guard like handles, left or right, can shoot of the dribble. Trevor hasn't developed those skills yet. That's not so say he never will, but not at the level of Tracy.

Lowry is a special player. He's a constant disruptive force on defense. He never lets what happens on offense affect other aspects of his game. He runs the offense very smoothly, almost always making good decisions. He's a ridiculously good rebounder. He's a bull going to the basket. His outside shot looks to have improved but it's too early to say how much. I don't think outside shooting will ever be a strength of his but he can potentially eliminate it as a weakness.

Bottom line, I want all of our guys to succeed but Lowry just keeps standing out to me. He's a triple double waiting to happen if he's getting 30+ mpg. He consistently draws fouls and gets to the line at an elite level. He'll also give you good a good FG% because of his ability to finish inside.

Brooks had the inside track because he was already here at the time of the trade but he'll have to make some pretty significant steps forward in his overall game if he wants to hold Lowry off in the long run. He just doesn't do nearly as many things well so he'll have to excel in his areas of strength while improving on his weaknesses or Lowry could usurp his position sooner than later.

Does anyone know why Pops didn't play? I found it odd everyone got minutes (even Brian Cook), but he did not...

Nvm.. found it in another thread.

    Mensah-Bonsu hobbled
The Rockets held out center/forward Pops Mensah-Bonsu because of a sore right hamstring. He is scheduled to test the injury today and could play as soon as tonight against the Celtics or Friday in Orlando.

Well, we didn't draft Taylor for starters. We bought his rights, and in order to buy things, you need someone willing to sell them, and it's more than probable the Spurs weren't willing to sell Blair.
Honestly, you people going "we should have drafted Blair" are morons. We weren't going to get him, as we didn't have draft picks to begin with and SA wasn't probably going to sell. And given that he's an injury risk and we have a serious problem with injured players right now, I would not want him now.
