the ball was in his hands basically every possession the entire game. most of the fts were most likely the results of him (outside for yao he got man coverage so that's due to him) penetrating or passing.

again, that tmac was not the tmac i expected overall. i expected the best player in the world. i got a superstar for 2 games, an all-star 3 games, a good player for 2.

As the season progresses, Yao should only become more and more comfortable with the high post offense. He's only gotten a few games in against NBA competition. This is a process, and it will take months for him to master it. We can't expect a new coach and a new system to be brought in, and everything clicks right away.

but i truly want us to compete for the best record. if we face an 8th or 7th seed, we'll get out of the first round easier. get the monkeys off of our backs. then destroy w/ ease.

I don't know if this just me or what. I have a strong feeling that Adelman is trying to mode the current Rox into his old Sacramento King. To me, this is just like trying to "transform" your current girlfriend into the ex-gf the you love the most, it's not going to work...

Or it's like JVG trying to convert the Rockets to the Old Knicks.
I think you may be right.

Why do coaches try to enforce a system onto a group of players?

I thought Adelman would be more flexible and create a system that is best suited for his players.

Is Adelman trying to turn the Rockets into the Sacramento Kings?

Do we really want him to master it? Yao's handles are not going to magically improve to the point where he can beat people off the dribble. Without that, he is essentially relegated to a jumpshooting stiff like Divac/Miller if he plays in the high post. If he masters his role, congratulations, we have made Yao into a jumpshooting stiff. Skip Bayless rejoices.

I'd rather he ditch it completely and go back to the way it was. A part of me is hoping Yao goes Shaq on Adelman, but I know it's not going to happen.

Until we start Steve at the PG and run ISO plays for him 80% of the time... this team will go nowhere! :D

Being honest now.... IMO having Steve out on the floor as another threat to the defense will really open things up for Yao and Scola. I'd like to see more play with Steve and Mac on the floor too.... I would have liked Adelman to have experimented with these things more during the pre-season.... to me... Adelmans pre-season got a C-

I don't think thats true , in his interviews Adelman always mentioned how he used Drexler in Portland and Duckworth could run despite his size , Divac as well.

I thought Steve did well in the limited minutes he got with both Tracy & Yao on the floor. It might have been because he shared the point duties with Tracy or maybe more opportunities less solo effort when surrounded by the main rotation guys?

I wouldn`t really call this acting... did you see this life? I was really worried about him there for a bit, because the other guy was kinda twisting chucks knee with all his weight.. this could have snapped his acl.

Why aren't you understanding this simple concept? The plan has never been to play Yao exclusively or even mostly in the high post. Yao will still get most of his points around the basket, but additionally he can do some stuff away from the basket. It's not either/or.

And Divac/Miller were excellent offensive players in the Sacramento system, not "stiffs". If Yao could add their high post skills to his repertoire, we'd be much better off.

the number 28 dude was leaning towards head to protect the ball, the majority of his weight was on his own knees other than Chuck's leg.
anyway, I was joking about it. :p

JVG did this for 4 years w/ the rox turning it into his knick teams.

adelman tries it for 6 PRESEASON games and he's the same?

hmm. if i read an article on the chron right, he won't.

i'm a little worried about the season opener. usually you're supposed to get better as the pre-season ends, but last night was by far our worst game with the regular rotation. we looked so sloppy out there and yao ming didn't look comfortable at all. then again, it was the Spurs, and they are on a different level than us right now.

again, no more experimenting right now. the rotation is set. the players know their minutes more or less. we are going to run the plays that seem to work the most.

the spurs ran their same old plays what? for8 years now?

this is our 6th game. and most coaches cut their playbook in half or even more to make it simple.

They should enter the ball to Hayes, Scola, or Landry in the high post...send a few cutters through...and then go high low with Yao.
