He's earned it according to you. But the coaching staff seems to believe Bev has earned an opportunity to show what he's got too. Why is this such a hard concept to pick up? Lin was once an end of the bench limited minutes guy who got his chance to prove he is more than that, why doesn't Bev get this same opportunity?

What does Parsons starting status have to do with Lin? There isn't a SF on the bench that is pushing Parsons for his starting spot and please don't say Omri. I keep seeing Lin fans bring other players at different positions into the discussion as if it's relevant. PG(along with C)is our deepest position and as much as some of you want to believe that Lin is in another stratosphere talent wise compared to Bev it's just not the case. Lin is better, but it's not a huge disparity.

All that said I still think Lin will start in the regular season and I have zero problems with it. But if the people who actually are running things believed with 100% certainty all the stuff you believe then they wouldn't be testing Bev as a starter.

Don't forget the business side of professional basketball. The fans a player can attract matters or Parsons wouldn't have frequently appeared on the front page of NBA and Rockets.com. Bringing in fans adds to the pocket of Les. Somehow, I think Lin has not brought in as much money as the Rockets owner and management imagined and that's why he could be benched. As poor as Yao was in his early years, he still started.

Truth be told, I am second guessing the idea that Lin is the better overall player. While +/- is not a really good stat, the huge discrepancy between Beverley's +/- and Lin's is mind-boggling. Lin fans always point to opposing competition as the reason why Lin's +/- is not as good as Beverley's but I don't think that can be a legitimate argument now that the coach is alternating start. Beverley might actually be the better player.

Trust me, there won't be many Lin fans left if Lin came off the bench in the regular season. Lin's minutes will be cut slowly, nothing too drastic. Lin fans are going to be eroded. By the time Lin's playtime becomes that of a bench warmer, there will be no voice for him. The complaint is now or never.

As of now, you can see Lin fans dividing into a) firm supporters of him being starter; and b) people who think he can start at the bench and still benefit from it. The first group is already dying. When Lin does come off the bench, the first group would vanish. With Lin's minutes gradually cut, the second group would not have the voice to make a difference anymore. They are going to be gone too.

Let's just hope the organization doesn't demote Lin into the bench warmer class. I still want to see him play.

Lol wtf? Okay first of all about the +/-, cmon you seriously can't use that to judge a player's ability. Even if Lin had the higher +/-, it would be ridiculous to claim he's better just based on that. I've also noticed that a lot of Bev's points have been assisted for when he has a spot up while there's much more pressure on Lin and he's had to create a lot for himself. Having said that I would agree with a lot of people that the disparity between Lin and Bev is not as large as previously assumed. Bev has proven he can play effectively for longer periods of time.

Second of all wtf? Lol u think just because of some point guard competition Lin will slowly erode to the bench and end up as a bench warmer? You do realize that last year he was hurt and struggled throughout the year yet still was about an average starting point guard right? Now he's not injured and improved. Lin might end up being sixth man, but he's still arguably the 4th best player on this team.

Agree with most of what you wrote, but why do you think we "settled" for too many threes? Lots of those were wide open and seem to be a benefit from the defense collapsing hard in the paint. When they decide to come out to cover the shooters it will open the middle back up.

You might want to call McHale and ask him pimpn. All I can tell you we will see once the season starts next week. I've asked several times what was his motive. Maybe he is doing that because Lin could get an injury. So he wants Bev to be ready. But once the Coach comes out and say Bev is his starter until then Lin is the starter.

What Lin and Harden combo was top 5 last season so why would he tamper with that. I'm not a big time Lin fan but the youngsta played pretty good last season especially in the 2nd half of the season.

Morey made the comparison of Kevin Johnson/Mark Price (Cleveland Cavs late 1980's). Not sure Lin/Bev are quite at that level, but I know what he meant. Both guys can play. Which is good for the team.

Here are their PER 36 Minutes stats through Game 6:

    JL -- 16/5/7 on 46% FG & 45% TH & 100% FT with 3 ST & 4 TO & EFF = 21
    PB -- 13/5/6 on 55% FG & 67% TH & 093% FT with 2 ST & 2 TO & EFF = 21

Both guys have Top-10 efficiency numbers for point guards in the 2013 preseason.

Hard not to like what is being seen here, I think. Both players appear to have improved substantially in the summer. I am also happy to see Lin keeping pace with Beverley in rebounds and steals. Numbers Per 36:

    RB/36 JL = 5.1
    RB/36 PB = 5.2

    ST/36 JL = 2.7
    ST/36 PB = 2.4

The numbers are all fairly similar as regards individual stats. Beverley's defense is probably better, but I haven't seen any kind of DRTG type data from the preseason.

Both players seem to be thriving with the competition for playing time. And it looks like both will be able to help the team out greatly this year, regardless of who starts.

Morey also mentioned the other day that he thinks both players may end up finishing games if they continue to play at the level they have played this preseason.

The twin towers look was kinda clunky, but it was awesome when SA would drive and then go uhhhhh nope. That could be good against teams that don't have much outside shooting.

Because he wants to make the team better, and the pre-season so far has shown that the team's offense doesn't struggle without Lin in the first unit. However, the 2nd unit does struggle without a playmaker like Lin.

McHale is trying to improve the team. He isn't playing Beverley in the starting lineup for fun.

We will see who starts pimpn.

You acting as if McHale will sub in 5. You do know that he could keep one of his Superstars in right. He will also play Harden 38 + a game. You cats thinking too deep on this subject. All because of some experimenting in some pre season games. LOL

Watching skimming thru the game and noticed Dwight is hungry. He got pissed at parsons for passing up the pass and then Jeremy Lin for not covering Green. Death stares to everybody. Hahaha. I like it. I think he even cursed them out.
