From AP report Yao made it 93-90, banking in a 7-footer after a hard bump that sent Jerome James to the floor but didn't draw a whistle. When Seattle won at Houston last month, Yao was called for an offensive foul in almost exactly the same situation. ``Same exact call was a charge in Houston,'' James said. ``Same play, same elbow, the whole thing. That's how it goes.'' Gave us the last game back!!!
Now James sounds pathetic . . . they called an offensive foul on Yao for "hooking" on the baseline. The plays were totally different.
First of all, James is an idiot... it wasn't the "same play"... Yao was called for a hook in Houston, and this non-call would have been charging. Second of all, James is still an idiot. If you watch it in slow motion, you can see that James prepares his feet after the first bump (which might have been even harder than the eventual second one)... and thus flops. Dumbass... he should stick to telling people he can't guard good players.
YOF, dont exsist now?. a few were saying yao should leave houston because the rockets dont draw up shots for him. i wonder how many of you will leave with yao, if he were to head to say LA?. then you'll all be long Time laker fans.
Also, if somebody posts the entire AP report, you'll notice that all the quotes from Seattle (about their horrid 6 point 3rd quarter) all say that it was "bad offensive decisions", and "selfish play"... not Houston's defense. Frankly, I saw them run the same sets as in the 1st quarter, and they even got some great looks... it was just that when you're nothing but a jump-shooting team, and the defense actually takes it up a notch, you have no way to respond.
Well, everytime you have an argument with someone about Yao, you pull the YOF card. It's getting old.
btw, can we now officially see that Charvo is clearly here to point out Yao's flaws, and not to root the Rockets.
i saw that at the begining of the season. what a win for rox. bob should go to a club and pick up a fine chick, yao should go and play x-box and t-mac should go home and sleep(we need you against phx suns). great win!!!!!!!!!!!
I cannot believe there is so much f-ing aruging in a thread celebrating one of the best victories of the season. I don't care what complaints you have against Yao, I'm sure they can be tabled for later. Just enjoy the victory man. We've demonstrated the ability to beat San Antonio AND Seattle, two of the top teams in the West. If we can stay healthy, we are definitely one of the top four teams favored to win it all this year.
This will change in the play-offs (where it counts the most). The Sun are very explosive. But they depend on the fast-break. They *need it* to win. Yes, they have a lot of strengths: speed, athletic, shooting. But their Achilles heal is that they *need* to fast-break to blow teams out. If you slow them down, make them think, and force them into a half court. That's when you can at least keep even with them. Then, it's a half-court game. We can never match-up with them by running. We just don't have the players for that. But we do play better half-court. And we do play a hell of a lot better defense! Our weakness is our rebounding and lack of speed at some positions. That's why we need to pick up some athletic PF and G's. Guys that can off-set other teams speed. The key to beating the Suns is to learn Nash's passing lanes and limit their easy buckets (fast-breaks). If you do that, you at least make it close. A close game is what we want with the Suns. This is the same tactic that the Spurs would do against the Sun. Although, the Spurs have more speedy players than we do (Parker and Manu). So, they have even a better chance of beating them. But the Suns do have weakness that can be exploited. It will show up more in the play-offs when they match up with a team that can break down each of their plays and learn their tendencies better. Whomever meets the Suns in the play-offs will probably get beaten the first two games. But as the series goes on the other team will learn more about them and that's when the series goes half-court and more competitive. If a team chooses to play lackluster defense against the Sun...well, they need to prepare to get their teeth kicked it. We better not do that...or else! Am I confident we can beat them? Yes. Am I overconfident? No. The will be very tough to beat. But lets just make sure the Suns don't have a party at our expense!
To blazer_ben: Callin people "backwards communist" is an insult. You are deserved to be blazed. By the way, i found that you are more annoyin than Charvo + Amed + Juugie combined!!!
Calm down, man. We are all Rockets fans, and there is no need to bash each other. I feel bad you took on so much heat for this. However, when discussions turned into arguments then personal assaults, it's best not to perpetuate it. You don't have to argue with everything other people said to you, because there is no way you can win an argument here. After a while, it became so personal and people's pride got involved. So, instead of talking about Yao and the Rockets, it turned into defending each other's heroes, countries and egos. There is no need for that. I found no problem in saying Amare is a better player and fits the Rockets better. I don't agree with it, but there I know where you come from. Amare is a monster this year and deserves major props. No one should call you "idiot" for it. The mistake you made was mentioning the "Communist China" crap. It is uncalled for and brought you tons of flame. Many people here are from China. Just like the fact that you don't want people to disrespect you and your country, you need to show respect to others'. Yes, you do have the freedom of speech. But respect and decency are higher moral laws that we all should abide on top of the freedom of speech. If you show respect, you'll get respect. I don't mean to be "holier than thou" here. I just want everyone to enjoy the win here and avoid unnecessary conflicts. I had to shake my head reading all the personal attacks toward you and from you. Let's just move on.
Hi, DG, sorry for not clarifying that it was a joke article in my NBA Dish thread that got you confused. I hope you liked my 20-minutes-writing stuff. If not, it's ok. I am not sure I do either.
