Nope - I just looked it up. In order to complete the Triple Crown, I must also have one of my threads as a "hot topic" on the home page. That may have already occurred - I don't check the homepage nearly as often as the bbs. And how does a thread become a "hot topic"? EDIT: I just checked.... this thread IS a hot topic!! That's it! I'm officially a member of the Triple Crown club!!! Hooray!!! Yippee!!! Woo hoo!! ... Hooray... ... ehh.. I really need to get a life.
Welcome to the Club my brutha... this gives you access to the super-secret Styx forum....use it well. btw...highlight clip is done...am about to start encoding in a few minutes...game torrent will be tomorrow
To me, Juwon looked significantly lighter and quicker than last year. Wouldn't it be great if Lonnie continued to dominate off the bench and we had the luxury of 3 very good PFs? (Did the bus hit a pothole on the way to the game and bruise up Stromile? Just kiddin.) I think our starting PG position is solved. I would look for Sura to move to the 2 if he is able to come back, or else he will have to work off the bench. Rafer is just able to get the ball inside to Yao so much easier. Yao could have very easily had 23-25 points in his 21 minutes if he had finished a couple easy jump hooks and layups. Rafer should push double digits in assists this year and Yao should average at least 21 ppg with Rafer getting him the ball. It all means we are getting higher percentage shots and becoming more efficient. I didn't see a lot of Yao running around setting picks either, another good thing. It will increase his stamina late in games and late in the season. Also, there was a concentrated effort to get the big man the ball early in the game. Once Yao gets used to that, look for us to consistently get off to good starts and be able to carry them to more easy wins, especially against the lower echelon teams that we struggled with last year. If DWes doesn't get it together, he could be our midseason trade bait for that one extra piece. Head has size and youth on him. If Head develops quickly, and Wesley continues to underperform, Head could wind up pushing for some of DW's minutes. Wouldn't it be interesting to pull off a trade for a quick, sharp shooting SG with DW's and Moochie's expiring deals? Bottom line is, barring injury, I can't see any way that we aren't fighting it out with San Antonio for WC and league supremacy. Of course, this is pretty short sighted, just one preseason game. I watched a little bit of Dallas Sacramento tonight and the stupid Dallas announcer were referencing how much better San Antonio had gotten by adding Finley and Van Exel. They acted like SA was their only roadblock, didn't even mention the Rockets. SA added those two and we added Swift and Rafer, not to mention Baxter and a good looking, young draft pick in Head. I think we will dominate Dallas this year and by season's end, they will be clamoring to trade Nowitzki and fire the little general. I think our second unit is primed for success with a defensive center in Mutombo and an offensive PF in either Swift, Howard, or Baxter. I really like the idea of Mutombo and Baxter playing together. Baxter is a very good paint PF for a minimum salaried backup. He just has that nack for getting his mits on the rock and chucking it in the bucket. Not fancy, but effective. By the way, who can we get for Moochie and Wesley?
By the way, for everyone who thinks Skip doesn't know when to shoot and he's passing up too many shots, it's intentional. What better way to fit into a new team and get teammates to like you than to pass up your own offense and set them up. Skip won't start shooting it until Jeff and TMac tell him to shoot it. He did hit one wide open 3 ball that I saw early in the game on the quick swing around. Didn't look like he had any trouble firing it up. Like I say, he should be enjoying plenty of sweet and sour chicken and fortune cookies from all those meals Yao pumps into him down at his mom's place.
Great post. The only thing I'd add is DA's quickness impressed me. Wesley looked healthy and quick, but didn't have a good game. It was kind of fun to zero in on who was guarding AI at various times. We played some good D against him, and it didn't matter... At fractionally under 6' that guy is amazing.
cant wait to get the torrent so I can watch most of it all over again... its been waaaaaay too long since (dare i say it) - we've seen the Rox play ball.
Rockets vs Sixers preseason game highlight clip As is usual for me, this is a torrented file...if you dont know how to use bittorrent...google it first, and if you still dont understand it...ask also...bittorrents only work when everyone that downloads the file leaves their program open and seeding after they finish downloading it...only leeches dont seed...and you dont want to be a leech cause leeches suck. btw...what is the name of that service that allows you to upload files that are over 50M? it is a new one kinda like yousendit...but iirc yousendit limits the file size at 50M... this one if 68M since I left in a lot of footage of good defensive sets and the second and third unit play... folks that want to see what the hubbub is about Luther Head need to watch the last 3 minutes of this clip...Bill and Bull say his name so often it is almost not funny. btwbtw....game file torrent will be ready by midday tomorrow,I just started the encode
thanks! Megaupload should be the one you're looking for but its pretty slow compared to yousendit. YOu could also try filefront. It's free w/ unlimited bandwidth/file size and is usually pretty fast. catch is you have to sign up.
