That happens when you are unsure of your role.

    It will come with chemistry.

I have no doubts the team will play better as the season progresses. Yao's elbow will heal which will allow him to make a jumpshot without any pain shooting through him. JJ will regain his shot that so very important last year. Ward and Lue will do what they are supposed to do in the offense. They will shoot and defend. The playmaking will be up to Yao and TMac.

i think it's more reasonable to give this team some time to play together and judge them then it is to think they suck after 2 tough road games(well maybe not toronto, but it was their home opener).

anyone know where i can get a torrent of this game? did rocks2k rip it? i went to work tonight and set my tivo to record fsw from 6-9 but of course it was on 51! i was pissed and i had managed not to find out the score prior too!

I'm ready to start the...JVG! FIRE OR DIE! campaign. We could get P Diddy to help us. A sluggish offense in Gotham and now a sluggish offense in HTOWN! I don't think it's related though. We only have 9 former NY KNICKS on our squad. I forget how many championships they won in the 90s...something in the tune of 0.

For the life of me, I cannot recall a single play tonight where Yao opted to take a layup instead of a dunk when he was in position to do so. He was 5/9 from the field and went to the line 10 times. I'm so tired of people just complaining about the same old thing even when it doesn't apply to the game we are talking about.

Yao took the ball strong to bosh, attempting to dunk it on him, when in the past, he prolly woulda shot a short jumper or something. He went to the line. Later, he rolled hard to hoop and initiated contact (Bosh flopped but was inside the restraining are). Please stop randomly inserting the standard Yao complaints into posts even when he has already shown marked improvements in these areas.

This is a rebuilding year and there are going to be games like this. They expended a lot of energy last night and it is a back-to-back and Toronto's home opener. It is going to be a learning experience type of year.

I don't know if this is going to pass for a team that was suppose to be about "No Excuses."

i thought the worst aspect of our effort was by far the defense. we looked totally confused through the majority of the game and allowed some pretty average players to look like all-stars. i'm not worried about the offense, there were some flashes of what we can do when we run the post game properly. the defense looks like it could take some time...

Stop the hate people. You keep saying that Steve's gone and we should just move on, so stop bashing him just cause the Rockets lost a game and you don't know who to blame anymore. Give the man credit for his win. You all know that if the Magic had lost and the Rockets had won it would have been "same old Steve, glad he's gone, bring on the wins!"...but since it's the other way around the excuses start coming out for the Rockets.

I remember the "no excuses anymore" thread a few weeks back. I guess that only applies until excuses are actually needed...

The reason that it's not the othe way around is because this is a Rocket BBS, not a Magic one.

solid's post is about others using the Magic win as reason to bash our team.

Actually, I am more concerned about the offense. Yes, it does work well when we can execute it successfully. However, the whole problem is that we can't execute it successfully very often, no matter how hard we try. For the post game to work, two things need to happen:

    1. Yao needs to establish a deep position in the low post.
    2. We have to be able to pass him the ball.

Most of the time, only one of the previous two things happens. Rarely, does both happen. And it's not because the guards are selfish, or because Yao is soft. It's just really hard to do, something that we might never get right.

    Final
    LA: 78 @ Utah: 104

Why? The Jazz played EXCELLENT DEFENSE (AK47). Oh, and their offense wasn't that bad either. ;) No "superstars" on the Jazz, but excellent team play.

Too much D for Kobe's team (38pts; 21 shots). And Mihm was constantly punked in the post. Odem? Eh...3-10.

jazz won cos they have some reliable shooters in Matt Harping and Gordon Gricek.... we dont.
Beside our defense, i think our another weakness is jumpshots. Seems ;like no one, guess beside T-mac, can really shoot the ball... :(

how ironic the two teams played in china are now 0-2! I think the rockets are definitely wasted one whole week of traveling instead of practicing.....
