Rewatched the game. I seee why Tari cussed during the post game interview with Vanessa. I thought it was a slip but he was really upset at that play where he blocked Ivey and Jabari had the ball hit his hands but didn’t secured the loose the ball and it ended up in a scramble 3 for Tobias. I just saw that play and Tari was visibly upset and barking at Jabari for not finishing that defensive possesion.

jabari needs to build up his grip and forearm strengths. among other things lol

 

Yeah, Udoka also mentioned this missed rebound during his post-game conference and how it led to the 3. He sounded irritated by it as well.

And not trying to defend Smith, but it wasn't really rebound but a deflected shot that fell short of the rim. FVV was boxing out the Detroit player (Stewart, I believe) who tipped the ball out to Tobias Harris for the three. Because it was a deflected shot, the box-out actually put Stewart in a better position to get the ball than FVV.

When Smith saw that it was a deflected shot, he rushed in and made a failed play for the ball, but that also meant leaving his man Harris, who ended up getting the wide-open three. In hindsight, maybe Smith should have just stayed with Harris, but sometimes, that's the way the ball bounces.

 

Smith got to the ball first and it hit him right j the hand and he jsut alligator’d it. He should’ve gained possession of that ball but just failed to possessed. That’s why Tari was cussing him out. That play was a microcosm of Smiths play. All right there in position to make the play and always coming up short. Maybe the moment is too big for him. Hes still only 21.

that play left the door open for Detroit and they almost pulled it off.

 

The play is at 8:55. Stewart looks like he had a slightly better position on the ball. Smith ran in and had a good chance of reaching over and gaining possession, but he didn't. I get that Eason might have said something, but it's not like the ball came to right where Smith was standing and he bobbled it.

But anyway, there'll be other opportunities. He'll suck it up and move on.

It hit his hands first. He should’ve had that ball. One thing about Tari and Amen is they win those 50/50 balls. Jabari just has to do better
