Yes Yes, but atleast we broke 90 every few games. I mean come on. I really would like to enjoy a 100 point game once in a while. But this is ridiculous. Seriously 3 out of 5 of our starters have potential to go for 40 any given night, then why cant all of our players combine to get more than 60.

If I were the GM I would get guys on this team who like playing the Van Gundy style. I imagine there are players who actually like playing for Van Gundy. If I were Yao, I wouldn't sign with the Rockets. Yao's agents have already told the Warriors to keep the cap space open. Rockets better be proactive rather than reactive concerning Yao. If it comes out in a year that Yao is wanting out of this prison, then his trade value is much less than if the Rockets deal with the situation now and see what other teams are offering.

    Umm... NO

He is not going to be traded. Especially since TC, the Uniforms, the beer, etc etc are all focused to be chinese friendly.

    NO, just No

JVG insulted Ben Wallace last month. JVG said Ben Wallace was overrated on defense. Maybe Ben Wallace was seeking revenge.

Maybe JVG is not the man for the job?

Let's stop focusing on Les' pocketbook. You seriously think Yao likes playing for Van Gundy? He's already got a dictator over in China coaching that team. Yao doesn't want to play for a dictator the entire year. What dummy would pick playing for Van Gundy over playing with an up and coming coach like Eric Musselman? Van Gundy's basketball style only attracts the defensive-minded players like Cato and Alonzo Mourning.

I didn't get to watch tonight's game, so excuse my ignorance...

Why only 22 minutes for Yao? It didn't look like he was in foul trouble at all. The argument that he isn't getting it done in the post? He only took 5 shots...surely the offensive woes aren't his. The argument that if we are giving him more looks it is up to him to take the shot? I agree, but 99% of the time the reason Yao passes back out is because he is either getting doubled, or is about to be doubled - i.e. - defense is starting to move his way. That being the case, passing the ball out is the right thing to do. Yao often passes the ball out when this happens and looks to repost. Rarely does he get that pass.

Again, I didn't watch the game so I may be way off, but why only 22 minutes. Despite the blow-out, Francis, Mobley, and Jackson all played over 34 minutes.

JVG's rotation and coaching is not always that clear. One of teh other games, where Yao ended up in foul trouble in the 3rd, he had no fouls with a minute to go in the first half and Van Gundy put him in and he promptly got two fouls before half-time.

Talk about your ugly game tonight vs Detroit. I absolute have come to dislike Stevie as a ballplayer. He is not a team player at all. I do not care about his sweet crossover or how quick to the basket he can be... he still throws up crap... does not involve his teammates... and he is a terrible defender. He looked like A. Levell trying to bring up the ball tonight. Put a bit of pressure on him and he takes it personally and forgets that he has 4 other guys out there.

    C. Ward... please come to Houston. Then, the Dave Conover solution to our current pickle. Ship out Stevie. I had mentioned this in an earlier post. Stevie and Mo Taylor to Atlanta for Shareef Abdur-Rahim and Theo Ratliff. You would have to believe that Atlanta would jump on this in a heartbeat. This would allow the Rox to be come a classic Houston/classic JVG inside out team with Shareef and Yao (Cato and Ratliff as defensive minded reserves) on the inside and our strong collection of spot up shooters on the outside. This trade would improve our team defense and at the same time give us some sort of team offense.

Anyway... I doubt that Ward will sign with Houston. Most likely New Jersey.

He was aweful! Add to that the constant pestering and yelling from some of their fans to the Rockets while they tried to shoot. I think that CAT threw that ball into the stands on purpose-it was right in the area of those loud-mouths.

The Rockets got to be the most intriguing team in America.

One day they play amazing defense and shut down the lakers, next day they lost 2 games in a row with both 1 point loss. Then a little 4-5 game winning streak, then take a nose-dive like tonight.

This team is so high and low the fans are going to get heart-attack being so many emotional rollercoaster.

I think the key to this team is Yao. It's no co-incidence that whenever Yao play great, Rox win easily. If we can somehow keep Yao play in a high level consistently.

Yao isn't aggressive enough and when he does get a little aggression he turns the ball over or have to force a bad shot. He never gets in good position to just catch the ball and turn around and shoot. He always has to put the ball on the floor for the defender to either swipe away or the opposing guards to steal. Lets face it, Yao isn't mentally or physical tough to handle adversity.

Simple solution: let Rudy run the offence and JVG run the defece. Les will be the ref. :D :D :D

I am relli frustrated with this offense right now. It is not that we dont get open shots, cuz we do. It is that we are not able to hit our open shots. I really think we should trade stevie and MO-T for Carlos Arroyo and AK 47... that would help our team out a whole lot

Life2Def,I think you are correct.Yao isn't mentally or physically strong enough. He has skills but having played in one of the weakest leagues in China makes it hard for him to adjust to the NBA game.
He needs stronger complementary players to help him out but unless he overcomes his own problems he won't be able to become a major success in the league.

I wouldn't blame one person for this loss - I believe we lost because we just kept missing our shots. By that, I mean, our defense was decent, we had open shots, and we just kept missing them. This is what has been plaguing the Rox all season: we just don't make our shots.

And, honestly, I focus a little bit of my frustration on the people we brought in who are 'pure shooters' (like Pike, who is having the worst shooting season of his career, now that he's finally on a team that can make the playoffs- go figure).

But we're not that bad. We're not championshipt calibre, but I think we're one of the top ten teams in the NBA. We just gotta keep working.
