Perhaps you are not understanding the point at all.

    Flipping JA was stupid.

Stone could have kept Lavert, Prince and JA.

Stone could have absorbed Prince salary by flipping Tucker for pick instead of selling JA. Nets do not need to send JA to Cavs for Bucks FRP to eat Prince's salary.

Or Lavert + SRP could still be moved to Pacers for Dipo.

And Rockets end up with Dipo, JA, Prince instead of Dipo, Exum, Kurics. 3 FRP and 4 swaps do not change.

This is not counting the pick(s) for Tucker (3 SRP or 1 FRP).

    There were other options.

THE best option would have been to take the 76ers trade for Simmons + Thybulle + player X + 3 FRP + swaps.

Then trade Tucker for FRP or 3 SRP.

Assets would have been essentially same as Nets, but with better players. Players that actually fit Silas defense first system.

Yes, tanking for 2022 draft makes infinite more sense than tanking for 2021 draft.

tilman should privately feel quite happy wood got injured n the whole team underperforming finally…cuz he got a better reason to dump salaries further.

Unlike other nba bosses say dolan, tilman do cares much about what others think of him.

    A rehab club…

Well then, I did misunderstand you because I thought you were just going on about them not having JA and you're upset about the trade in general.

The trade is a risk, for sure. If BKN never falls apart then the trade is a bust, they are clearly hoping BKN falls apart in 2-3 years so that they can reap quality picks from the deal.

I liked the Philly deal too and I think they should have held out for Maxey and Simmons, I even take it just for Simmons because he is an all-star still in his prime.

As for Dipo vs Lavert, meh, it's a wash for me. Lavert wouldn't have moved the needle here and he's out for some time. Last I checked he has no timetable for even a return.

Lavert is a nice player but he's a journeyman swing player, like Lou Will or Crawford type of guy, and his cap hit is 16 million plus next 2 seasons. I don't know if I want to be locked into that. For this reason, Dipo is better just because we can wash our hands of him next season or this trade deadline hopefully.

at the very least, I want this season to be about setting ourselves up for a tank job next year, and if the Rockets just so happen to suck enough this year that they luck into keeping their pick, then great

Dipo centric trade was a disaster IMO.

Getting one extra FRP was not worth the talent dropoff between Simmons + Thybulle + player X vs. Dipo + Exum + Kurucs.

    Monumental failure.

I preferred the Simmons trade just because of Simmons and if we got Maxey too? I could work with that. Even though I think Simmons is a Westbrook/Rose/Dwight/Blake kind of superstar that's going to fall off a cliff once his athleticism leaves him, I still rather have him and we could have been even better defensively and he would be perfect for small ball and he would have been a backup PG too...backup C and PG in one. I think he could have fit well with what Silas wants to do.

I only refrain from calling it a failure because the gamble could work. Even if BKN wins a ring they could still blow it up after...but it's a if right now so I get that right now the trade looks like it hasn't done anything for the Rockets.

One thing Stone has going for him is he found a complete shiny gem in Tate, this guy just looks better and better. if he could do that once a year things will work out for the Rockets eventually.

Tate does not make up for the shetshow of the Harden trade IMO.

Only amazing thing Stone did was sign Wood. But this was always the gameplan that Morey concocted.

    Nice loss.

One L closer to convincing people this team has absolute zero upside.

Is he playing bad? . The statement I replied to was discussing moves this offseason and I think stone did the best he could. I also think they made the moves with harden being the centerpiece not wall.

John Wall playing 0 minutes or 48 minutes a game makes no difference in the overall scheme of things.

Anyone that has followed his career in Washington knows that he is not a difference maker.

    Same goes for Oladipo.

Both are chuckers with mediocre game.

Silas has hands tied by Stone.

Sterling Brown, David Nwaba deserve more PT than House/McLemore/PJ right now.

Tate should be playing like 30+ minutes/game.

I see at minimum one of House/McLemore and PJ out of the door soon. We're only showcasing them for trade prospects.

Oladipo is obviously going to be aggressively traded.

Trade deadline will be really interesting.
