That was a really good all-around game for Battier. He shot great and he really pestered Carmelo into a poor shooting game. You have to give credit to the big men, Mutombo (22 boards!) and Howard (7 assists!), as well. As crappy as he shot, Alston played pretty solid defense against Iverson, too. Great win!

Yet JVG seems totally committed to him. Oh well.

b/c he'll pay off. 27 pts v. boston? cmon, wait till the playoffs when teams double tmac and yao like crazy or when they're on the bench, bonzi will be important. he's still the only guy who can create his own shot legitimiately after tmac and yao

Bonzi is a good player but those won/loss records with and without him is interesting.

    This is a tough decision...

Would you rather have a slasher in Kirk or a creator in Bonzi? Both are needed in the playoff for their specific roles, but of course we can't play both b/c of JVG rotation. I'm kinda leaning towards Kirk b/c he doesn't turn the ball over as much.

Anyway an awesome win and one we desperately need, all of the Rockets played good and the defense is picking up. They need to carry this energy Vs the Spurs...

Yeah, we need Bonzi, even it is very frustrate that he is so inconsistent and in and out of lineup so often.

We have two bona fide super stars, but it is always important to have a third scorer. No one other than Bonzi on this team fits that role. Battier, however great a role player he is, can't create much his own shots. Juwan is good lately, still pretty over the hill and too much a defensive liability. He can't create much either.

When our super stars have an off night or in foul troubles, Bonzi will be very valuable to provide offense for the team.

Some people like Snyder over Bonzi. But they are not the same kind of players. Snyder can't post up or create his own shots in the paint or be a go-to guy.

I totally agree with JVG to put Bonzi ahead of Snyder, at least for this season. Snyder will get his chance later.

Luther Head, Shane Battier, and basically everyone else redeemed themselves :D . The offense was good except for McGrady's FG%, and our defense was poor as a whole (Nuggets shot 47%) but excellent on Iverson & Anthony. Let's keep it up for tomorrow!

It was funny that Hubie wanted to kick out JVG and coach this team in the playoffs.

If it's a matter of scoring off double teams, that doesn't exactly require shot creation or [/i]playmaking[/i]. It requires an ability to finish. Bonzi's ability to actually finish plays has been erratic, at best. He loses the ball frequently in traffic, and as a spot up jump shooter forget it.

karl has this to say about tmac BEFORE THE GAME

In his pregame press conference, Nuggets coach George Karl called McGrady the second-best playmaker in the game, behind only Los Angeles' Kobe Bryant. He may flip-flop the two after what McGrady did to the Nuggets on Friday night. McGrady also had seven assists and six rebounds.

"I think the presence of McGrady is probably as powerful as (Phoenix guard Steve) Nash," Karl said.

    respect :D

Good points. Another reason why Rockets won is the defense: the best vs. one of the worst. JVG is really a great defense coach, though not offense.

No doubt. T-Mac is Rockets offense engine.
