Wasn't that the dunk Yao missed? He clanged it on the front of the rim...didn't get up high enough.

Great game though. The Rockets looked awesome, and TMAC....well. Words won't do him justice. The guy is just SICK!

Probably not. The ball is like two feet above the rim. This must be the dunk over Nene.

Yeah, I agree. I hated it when guys say: "Well, if you're wide open then you should take the shot," but that only applies when your players can actually make the wide open shot. Our role players have shown they can't be trusted so I say let Tmac and Yao take the most shots even when they are double;only when the role players are hot, should we give them a good share of the offence.

i haven't read through this thread but what frustrates me more than anything is how yao gets raped by the defense and the refs turn their back. it's just terrible. basically all the smart teams know that they're allowed to play yao ming anyway they want and get away with it 99% of the time.

this isn't just normal fan griping anymore it's ridiculous and it's personally hard to watch someone who is a somewhat marquee player get less respect then most teams 11th or 12th man. i undertand that the most important thing yao has to do is maintain an agressive attitude but i can't help but think frustration on his part is holding him back a little. he comes into every single game handicapped not by defenses scheming against him but by complete indifference by the refs.

Right now there's 1.5 games separating #6 & #10 in the West. Those teams are the T-wolves, Lakers, Grizz, Clips & Rockets. Wouldn't it be hilarious if the T-wolves & Lakers didn't make the playoffs! :D

Yep, looks like everyone has Yao-opia. The cure for that is a 15 game Rockets winning streak.

Very fair observation. But stat-lovers, including those so-called TV analysts, don't seem to notice that.

Yes. Maybe discrimination against Asian people or someone from a developing or communist country.

I guess you didn't watch the game? TMac is a streaky shooter, he cannot shoot that high % regularly, especiall when face double team. He was single covered in the 4th because we went to Yao first, and the Nuggets swaming him inside, opened up premeter for our guys, include TMac. If the ball didn't go to Yao first, then TMac would have faced more double teams.

[EDIT]: Thanks DD for picking on me.;)

It also helped that on 80% of the pick-and-rolls the Nuggets switched defenders leaving their C or PF on him.

Right on. No matter how you slice it, we need both Yao and Tmac at their best in order to win consistently, especially in the playoff. Tmac will get single coverage only if Yao dominates and draws the defenders away from the perimeter. He was pretty quiet in the 3rd quarter and the Nuggets got as close as 1 point until Yao started getting the ball inside and scored a few times in a row. I think this is the kind of game which Tmac envisioned when he decided to force the trade to play with Yao.

You're right. People should stop just looking at the numbers alone. Yao is as important to the Rox's success as T-Mac. One without the other, we'll never be a contender, we'll have trouble making the playoff.

I remember some other posters said similar things back when Griffin was playing and often gets Yao's rebounds, Yao was also letting Griffin to take the rebound. The guy said Yao should knock Griffin on the head and take that board.
