what's Brooke's ceiling? I see a serviceable good big man ala Chris Kaman, but not great like Dwight and Yao when healthy
yes brook lopez will be a top overall center in the league in around 2-3 years. his offense has improved tremendously from last year (and yes, he does have a post game). he can run the floor, rebound, defend. he's a perfect center to have as he can fit any system. NJ will not let him go. he's a franchise level player.
a good serviceable big man??? in his 2nd year, he's putting up 19 and 10 despite not having the offense built completely around him yet and having really young perimeter players. dwight can't even score like brook right now, and yao wasn't as good as brook when he was 21. dude is going to be a superstar.
Aaron Brooks? Aaron Brooks celling is an above average point guard who will most likely just be right out of the all star game. Lopez is already arguably a top 5 center, averaging 18 and 10. Sure he's doing it on a ****ty team but I think he could do it with another above average PF playing beside him.
Brook Lopez would indeed be awesome. This isn't really related to the subject at hand, but does anyone realize that the Suns have worser of the two brothers that have been drafted? The Suns have Robin Lopez and Taylor Griffin...both in the shadow of their superior brothers. Just saying. And Lopez would be awesome on this team. Of course, Hayes wouldn't be manning the 5 anymore, but still.
Well I used the word "slump". You can call it whatever you want, but it's going to continue if Ariza doesn't work on it. We'll have to see if this will hurt Ariza in the long run, alot of players develop their shooting touch later in their career after working on it for so many years. What I don't want is Ariza getting gun shy and forcing himself into bad drives, we know he doesn't have the best handles either.
what i want ariza to do is use the curl and screen that cbud does so well. adelman said during training camp that this is something ariza has shown to do well in practice. and yet i have RARELY seen him do this. tmac has done more of this in limited minutes than what ariza has done the entire season. this play is a key play in adelman's offense, and i want to see him try this. obviously playmaking, dribbling, and things like that he will not improve at.
not this year. a young dwight was still dominant defensively. lopez is still learning. but in 2-3 years, yes i would.
Who mentioned Aaron? I was replying to your post about Brooke Lopez. Sticking to my original opinion about Lopez.
One problem with your theory. Ariza needs to be able to shoot as well as Budinger. (that, and of course the ankle sprain) Defense is the only thing keeping Budinger from upending Ariza's starting 2 spot. Once Budinger applies decent defense every game, Ariza and Landry will headline the bench mob.
Lopez will never be the rebounding monster nor a better shotblocker than dwight. He's a good center feasting on a league mostly without good centers. Dwight, even with his offensive limitations, is just on another level.
someone already said it, but don't you have to shoot well to be effective with that play? And that's on the move, Ariza is having a bad enough time shooting standing still.
you can say that about every center in the league who's good right now: feasting on centers in a league that is lacking in good centers. but hopefully this game will make you watch him more closely: dude has skills, he's not just a dunker or someone who just uses his height and imposes that to dominate. he actually has a legit post game. brook will NEVER be as good as dwight defensively or rebounding-wise (nobody in this league will be) b/c of dwight's sheer size and strength. but offensively, he can be 2-3x as good as dwight. and he's only 21. and he's still learning the game playing on a bad team (that might throw off his learning curve a little bit). here are signs that he will become a dominant scorer in the future: already 6.3 ft attempts in his 2nd year playing on a team that doesn't know what they're doing. you may disagree on whether he'll be the best center or not, but you have to admit that he will be more than just a "serviceable" big man. a lot of players can be "serviceable."
