Yao Ming needs to understand that he need not become passive when Tracy is in the game. This thing really irritates me - he has so much potential but he is often way too satisfied (settling) being Robin.
Yao needs to learn to post up closer to the basket. Is it just me.. or does Yao hardly ever win the opening tip?
If T-Mac wasn't injured, we could easily be undefeated. When you have a superstar like T-Mac on your team, those fourth quarter choke jobs could easily have gone in our favor.
Not sure I understood that either despite what Alpert and Jackson were saying about the small lineup being effective. I didn't see any better offensive flow or better rebounding nor one fast break point while the small lineup was in place. JVG needs to scrap this idea even when we play small teams.
It's not just you. In fact, 2 seasons ago, Kelvin Cato was always the one who'd take part in the opening tip, not Yao.
Really? He was not passive on the offensive end at all. 6 quick pointsin 5 minutes. Sitting him on the bench isn't going to make him more aggressive. I'm glad with the win. Tmac is 1/3 of Rocket's offense.
Yao has like 3 really big rebound games and then 2 horrible ones, this time he only got 2. Tmac went crazy though, and it was real obvious how screwed we are without him.
2 boards from Yao, huh? A much needed win for Rockets. Great to see T-Mac back. Wesley played his heart out - nice to see him rebound from the shooting slump.
Mark Jackson hit the nail in the head during the broadcasting, he said something like "Patrick Ewing can teach Yao everything, but can't teach him the desire to be great. Somebody is just satisfied being good and solid, but the greats always have the thirst to go to the next level".
JVG probably wanted Yao to have a seat and a good look on how it's SUPPOSED to be done in the 4th quarter.
I'm talking about how he was after Marc Jackson came in and started fronting him... he completely took Yao out of the offense, and then Yao got frustrated and commited a silly foul. Yao needs to dominate those situations... and allowing a player of Jackson's quality to change things really frustrates the coach when you know that this team probably works their ass off to help combat the fronting situation. Yao will learn... JVG will be fine... and more importantly, the team will be better for it.
