rockets-86 nets-81 rockets make 2nd half comeback win. yao-14 points, 11 boards, 5 blocks stevie-21 points, 3 assists
The key is to cut down TO, avoid low % shots, not give NJ chance to run open court. We got to slow down the temple, and play half court game. Otherwise, our twin towers will get killed runing up and down the court.
AFTER READING ALL OF THESE SUPER-OPTIMISTIC PREDICTIONS AND TALES OF BRINGING THE SHIP TO HOUSTON ON THE BBS,I THINK IT'S GOING TO BE A LONG SEASON.
Hey guys, I've got an awesome prediction!!!!!!: GIVE THE BALL TO YAO!!!! FEED HIM THE ROCK EARLY AND OFTEN FOR A W
I agree that Yao needs to get the ball more often, but the onus is going to be on Yao to get position down low and DEMAND the ball. I've noticed that Yao really tends to be tentative posting up, and more often than not he chooses to go up and set a screen. I don't know if they are trying to set up the pick and roll, but I have yet to see the roll from Yao be successful. I'd like to see Yao posting up everytime down the court then 90% of the time Yao should have the ball while there is 10 or more seconds on the shot clock so he can either shoot or kick it out and still have some time left.
Rockets win 98 to 82. Houston D generates Net turnovers and lack of K-Mart hurts their D. I'm using a system to pick this one, but with only three games data its probably pretty ify.
Exactly .. That is one of the things I am worried about. If his legs are too tired to get down there and post up, then Stevie is definitely our best option and I guess we can't complain that Yao doesnt get the ball enough. He really did get the ball just about everytime he got good position down low so hopefully Yao's stamina will hold up and that will continue.
The nets play smart basketball & have great team chemistry (something the rockets lack ). Jason Kidd is gonna have a field day with the rocks. Jefferson is is gonna outplay everyone. The rockets Lay an egg. Net BLows us AWAY easily! 110 -- 87
last night it was a function of MoT an Cato in foul trouble early. Is an intersting stat to watch though. Man, that guy plays hard. ROX 89 NJN 81
How To Play The Nets I thought it might be interesting to see how each of us would have the team play against the various teams in the league, were we JVG. Here's mine; Defense: Number one on the agenda, in the halfcourt, is to sag off of every shooter, except Kittles, if they're on the perimeter. No one but Kittles and Harris is any good at hitting from outside, but others, especially Kidd, will take it it's there, so make damned sure it's there. If he gets hot, tip your hat, but it's unlikely. No one else will try all that much, but they'll use the fake a lot, so stay back, don't bite. Mobes should come up on Kittles, that's it. Harris is out, but he'd normally be another shooter to worry about. Holding your ground is important with the Nets because, without the 3 as a real option, they rely on two basic offensive schemes in the 1/2; Kidd penetrates and dishes, and traditional inside out offense, usually through Martin ( if he's playing, which is doubtfull), although it might run more through Mourning when he's on the floor. As such,if you don;t let them create seams, inside rotation doesn't have to be too fast, actually it shouldn't be too fast because, while they're not the Kings, the Nets are among the better teams at reversing the ball on rotation, exposing defenders who rotate to quickly or too fast. Play it standard, seal off the lanes, and let Kidd get what he can from the mid-range runner. If you come off a big man while leaving him a lane, he'll hit the man. With Martin unlikely to play, that mens more minutes for Scalbrine and Williams, and they each bring slightly different things. Scalbrine is aggressive, tough, and will look to go to the hoop if he can, Williams will clear the boards and take the 10-15 footer if it's there. He's workmanlike going to the hole, but not overly gifted, and Cato should play up on him from 15 in, and off of Scalabrine until he hits a few. Offense While it's traditional to run against a running team, and that must happen when it can, it'll hurt to leak too soon against the Nets, as Martin, Kidd, Scalabrine, Williams and Jefferson all crash the offensive boards, so again, make sure of possession before cutting out. In the halfcourt, run inside/out. They've got a bunch of good to great one on one defenders and solid defensive rebounders, so the Nets are just itching for your perimeter guys to take iso shots so they can leave an individual defender to give the shooter trouble, big men to rebound, and the other two swingers will get out and run; don't let them. Work the offense methodically through the middle and make the defenders all take space. If Yao gets Mourning or Collins one on one, he has to take it to him, as that way their primary defensive boarder is locked up, and the Nets can't run as freely. If they double off of Yao, inside out, but not necessarily the first guy to get the ball. If there is time, look to work it, as the Nets, Kidd in particular, are good at anticipating where the pass out of the post will go, and will often cheat to the pass reciever, opening other holes. So the man to get the ball out of the post double should shoot if he's set and open, but don't be afradi to be patient and work the ball around, or go back in if the inside double sags. I wouldn't look to Steve for too much individual offense in this game, but Mobley might be a good option. Kidd is pretty good defending Steve unless his outside shot is really falling, as he plays off of him and uses his size to deny entries, so Steve has to either really have it going from outside, or think pass first unless they drop into a zone. Cat, on the other hand, should have some openings tonight, as with Harris out they are using Kittles and jefferson at the 2 spot, and Cat can take jeferson off of the driblle and penetrate, although Mourning clears up pretty well if he's in. But, and this could be important, Mourning, Martin, and Collins are all very aggressive coming off their men to help, so Mobley might want to go into the game looking to penetrate and dish, something he's not too comfortable with. If I'm Scott, I'm counting on that, and have told my help defenders to make Cat prove he'll dish off the drive before getting conservative. In the meanwhile we should be able to get 4 or 5 easy inside baskets off of a Cat drive and dish, if he'll do it. So, unless Steve is hitting from the outside, they're playing a lot of zone, or Kidd is hobbled by an ankle or something, I'd be looking at Yao as option number one, and Cat number two, with Steve being a playmaker, and other guys looking for the ball off of the double on Yao or Mobley penetration. Yao absolutely must be aggressive in this game, because if Jersey can play straight up and yao still passes out, we're playing into their hands, and they'll run all nught off of poor perim iso options. That's my take, what's yours?
Who did the Nets start last game without Kmart at PF??? Jefferson = overratted, he wont do jack crap aganist JJ or even Boki =[ Colin = pretty decent, can run, solid defender. Mourning = ...dont really know =[ He obviously is no longer the 8-time AllStar he once was but he's got size and strength and is better than Curry was at least Kittles+other players = All dependable scorers and defenders when playing well, but somewhere I read Kittles isnt shooting well oh well. Everyone gets 30% better with Kidd on the floor so if these guys step up we gonna have a tough game. Burning Questions: - Aganist a great defensive and fastbreak club, how much is turnovers gonna hurt us? - Will Francis have a good offensive game with Kidd defending him? - Will Boki and the Bench crew step up? -Is JRich really a moron? or just stupid but not yet moronic?
Well my take...we always beat them! Just beat them again! They don't have Kenyon Martin so that's a plus. And of course...don't let them have any backdoor cuts or passes or whatever. Just play defense and grind it out...they are pretty soft...we have plenty of depth to compete the entire game. We can win! Yao vs. Mourning! Hooray!
im just sorry but i feel the rockets gonna lose tonight and i dont even want to feel this way and i want them to win but damnnnnnnnnnn i got a bad feeling
Audio link. If WOR 710am is the Nets radio station then we have an audio link. Anyone know if it is their radio station???? The Nets web site has it listed as their station but the station's web site mention nothing about the Nets......??? http://www.wor710.com/home.php (Just click the "LISTEN LIVE" link on the left.) I'm listen to it right now online so it should work tonight. It uses REAL PLAYER and it is cutting off and on but every time I use real player that happens to me. (Don't know if this will happen for everyone or if that is just what happen when you use Real Player.) Remember - ***********Because of the NBA restrictions you need to log on at least 30 minutes prior to game time so it will not kick you off.************ Hope this helps so I can get my average up over .500. I'm 2 for 2. If this doesn't work I am just going to stick with the ones I know for a fact work. ***********Because of the NBA restrictions you need to log on at least 30 minutes prior to game time so it will not kick you off.************
Prediction: Eddie returns with two minutes left to play, checks himself in while dragging jvg on his leg, stops the Jefferson Dunk which came off moochies 23rd TO of the game, outlets to boki who bokisos kidd and hits the gamewinning three. Note: Griffin leaves the lockeroom depressed after the BBS trashes on him for not feeding yao the ball.
