What are you? An idiot? No one here cares about what goes on at that other site, which I haven't visited for two weeks, so get your loser ass out of here if you're going to carry on with your redundant muckraking. Once is tolerable, but a second, third, and fourth time is meaningless, especially to everyone else on this site. Just send a private message if you want to post something directly aimed at me. Jeez, did you not have enough friends when you were in junior high? Unless, you're still in junior high and don't have any friends.
On a relevant note, I take back all my vented frustration aimed at the Franchise for his off-shooting in the first half. He came back like a true champion and leader and gave that final, crucial push to get the win for the Rockets. The man wants to be in the playoffs, and it shows. He stepped up to Jason Kidd, and not many people can do that, especially when they start out with bad shooting--that's veteran resiliency, and Steve is a Veteran now. Come April, I'm going to really enjoy watching how excited he gets from being in his first playoff game. On Yao: He needs to be a more selfish. Van Gundy said he'd rather have an ego-less person to work with (so he can build him up) instead of an ego-driven person, but, personally, I'd rather have someone with an ego (and work from there). You can only get an ego if you truly have lofty aspirations, ambition. I'm not saying Yao doesn't, but sooner or later, if he wants to achieve greatness, he's going to have to dump that self-effacing, self-deprecating, stance of humility. He's going to have to not be so nice--in his overall demeanor. He's going to have to be a little bit of a jerk. If it was possible, I wish I could take some of Steve and Cat's selfishness and portion it off to Yao. That would even things out. But then again I also don't know if it's because Yao is necessarily wimpy or if it's because he's just tired. Or if one is caused by the other, both ways.
Great win ! Great way to start the day too... But what's with the attendance in New Jersey ? Only 11 000 people to watch the it ?
All I can say is that Stevie won this game. It is the first time I have ever seen him play with that much heart. It was easy and anyones game for the taking. But he did it. Nice. That's what we need. All heart. Yall now it. Beautiful. Very very nice. Yall can analyze all day, but that is real.
Ah, it's New Jersey. New Jersians care more about hockey, and for good reason: the Devils, unlike the Nets, were able to deliver in the playoffs and come home with a nice, shiny cup. Plus, they might be the Brooklyn Nets soon, which will be awesome. They'll have the rowdiest, most drunken, most diabolical home-crowd in the league.
Quote from Jason Kidd: "A lot of times we were scrambling trying to double-team Yao," Nets captain Jason Kidd said. "That puts a strain on your defense because you're trying to protect everybody else. That's the gift they have over there."
Never heard that one before... We were "fortunate" that NJ shot poorly!? "FORTUNATE"??? So are you saying that our defense had nothing to do with their poor shooting??? So is it just a lucky coincidence that statistically we're the best defensive team in the league so far? No really, I'm asking: is that what you're saying??? Cuz apparently you watched the game. I didn't. Also, I don't understand your analogy about the Bears/Browns. Are you saying that tonights matchup was a battle between two terrible teams??? So neither team should feel good about a win? And yes, stop raining. I'll bet you haven't expressed optimism before or after any Rockets game so far this year.
I watched the game tonight and definately noticed the Nets going to great lengths to double Yao every chance they got. Not only that, when Yao was in the game, Alonzo seemed to always look to shoot alot of soft jumpers, which most of his total 8 points came from - except the strong dunk over Kelvin Cato. Alonzo also had only a total of 4 rebounds.
We're fortunate to win. How many teams shoots 53% yet only scores 86 points. Any time that happens the team should lose. Turnovers were killing us. As I said, arguably the D was better, but NJ was doing fine until their 4th quarter collapse. In short, we got lucky. I thought my Bears/Browns analogy was very self-explanatory. That neither team deserves to win, yet there would still be a winner when the two plays. If it's any of your biz I have expressed optimism before or after any Rockets game so far this year. But you'll excuse me that I don't jump up and do a dance every time they play a semi-decent game like so many here until I can see them do it consistently
My first reaction after this game was...WTF?!?!?! Steve and Yao both had bad games overall, but the Rockets still won. That's going to happen, like, NEVER again. A few other notes: Jim Jackson provides the Rockets with something they haven't had since Pippen left, a forward that can put the ball on the floor and take it to the hole. Did anybody see Taylor sky over Scalabrini for that rebound? Sure, he went over the back, but I didn't know he be that tough. The turnovers have been horrible this year. The Rockets will not be more than battling for an 8th seed mediocre if they keep turning the ball over like this, and that's a guarantee...
i was at the game tonight. i had an awesome time. the building was silent, and when on the fan tv thing they said for people to stand up, even the Cat motioned for the crowd to get up, to cause some excitement.
Hey rb, Can you fill us in on how you found that quote so soon after the game? Postgame quotes aren't even up yet on rockets.com or the NJ Nets website, and Feigen's recap on chron.com didn't have postgame quotes that early. Thanks.
Did Yao Ming get a technical foul last night? On Yahoo's Box score during the game it listed Yao with getting a technical. Great win for the Rockets! That is typically the type of game that they lose. To win in the fashion that they did is huge for this team! They needed that!
He probably got a three second violation, which would count as a technical foul against the team. Cool observation... tonight was the first time this year, including preseason, that Yao shot less than 50%. And he was still just one make short of that number. Very nice.
So he got a DEFENSIVE 3 seconds call? That would make sense since a Technical Free throw is awarded for that. But I was surprised that they list Yao with the Technical when it should probably be listed as a TEAM technical since it really isn't on YAO perse.
Exactly. To me, that's the worst negative thing you can take from this game. A lot of his shots were coming around off a pick, so you think, "Well, he came off the pick and had some space, he was open" but that was not always the case. Many times a big man would slide up and Mobley would have to shoot a high, arching shot that was obviously much taller than he is used to...they just kept going in. That last shot he took in the fourth quarter really had me fuming because the team had been getting good shots and making them up to that point, and he drives to the left of the key, gets picked up, and does this POS jumping fall away jumper that he would hit 25% of the time in games...and it goes in. Had it not, I would have been screaming at him. But since it did, I was merely exasperated. I think of all the players, Mobley still has the furthest to go before he is fully involved in the system (by his own choice)...but I am fully confident he will get there.
I found this on the ESPN.com New Jersey message board: "If we ever needed a Player of Jim Jackson Skills we needed him in both of our Two lost this season. Everybodies attention was on the Wolves, Lakers, Mavs, and Spurs. However, Houston has an Offense that alot of B-Ball Fans skipped by and took for granted: Steve Franchise Mobley Taylor And "Jim Jackson" Moochie Norris With Two Board Cleaners in Yao & Cato Those seven Players will get Houston to the PlayOffs when "Griffin" return and abide by Van Gundy's way of Basketball the Houston Rockets will be one of the STRONG-FORCES in the WEST that no team will want to play in the PLAY-OFFS."
