Great to have a win over the 'Best in The East',even though we have a lot of things that need changing or improving upon.Rockets 3-1, can't ask for anything better, back to back wins on the Road and our game looked terrible in the offensive mode.We might even go a long way if JVG takes control.

Our 28 point 4th quarter also helped too. We forced the Nets to take bad shots the 4th, only scoring 13 points. #1 DEFENSE IN THE LEAGUE!!

Why do you think we played like crap? Ya, we had some turnovers, but we shot 47%, and held the Nets to 35%. Our offense is still coming together, but our Defense is really winning the games.

I am so proud of the way the rockets played, the whole mindset of the team has changed for the better, they don't seem to be as lazy and sloppy as they have been over the last few seasons. I can't wait to see how we go after we develop our game further.

here is a great insight into what happened to stevie in the second half:

``When you're not making shots, you're going to be upset about it,'' Francis added. ``Coach calmed down. He told me he wouldn't play me the rest of the game if I kept acting like a fool. He told me winners forget the first half and come back in the second half.''

    I am one happy rockets fan :D :D :D

What I don't understand about you people is that you guys are so down on steve, and then when he hits it big, he is the messiah. Steve Francis is not a bad player, he is a superstar, and him, cat, and yao are the future. A great combo when they stay consistent. Please for the love of God, support your soldiers!!

HOLY MOTHER OF MOOCHIE WE WON??????????????????????

    I totally missed it.

I left work at the end of the 3rd quarter and went to the gym and I was going to watch it, but I checked the score via th internet my cellphone, and it said "NJ 74, HOU 72, End 4th" So instead of using one of the machines w/the TV's , I just assumed that they had lost and didn't bother watching it.

Stupid. Let this be a lesson to you all that I am stupid.

I live in NYC, just got home from the Nets game. Some trivial observations:

    - Tonight was "Chinese Night", complete with little plastic drum-things like at the end of Karate Kid II. I guess that kind of stuff will continue in Yao's second year.

    - The place was dead. Huge gaping sections of empty seats in the upper level. And this is the two-time defending Eastern Conference Champion? Weak.

    - A lot of Nets fans recognized Ewing before and after the game; he got some cheers.

    - The red road uniforms look TERRIFIC in person! For the record, I've been a fan of the new logo and uniform from the get-go. But I was blown away by how vivid they look in person. Some of the most striking road unis I've ever seen. The TV doesn't do them justice.

    - The crowd was quiet, but there was one person booing Moochie. That was me. (sorry).

    - Sorry if someone already posted this, but for most of the game Yao did not line up to get rebounds during free-throws, but instead rested at the other end of the floor. Usually he was doubled over, breathing heavily. A buddy next to me who doesn't follow the Rockets said, "Hey, does he have asthma?"

I'll leave commentary on the actual game for the experts. Not pretty, but a great win. The kind of games we used to lose. I'll take it.

    Go Rox!

Just came back from the game at the Meadowlands.

First impression, that place was EMPTY. I was sitting in the upper level and everywhere except dead court center section was a ghost town. One section had only 7 PEOPLE in it!!! Wow, kinda like the Compaq center I guess... Quite a few Yao fans but not as many as last year during Year One of Yao. It was "Chinese night" and they were passing out these red drum things - I guess supposed to be some kind of "Chinese" drum. They even had a dragon dance during the halftime show...

    Game impression:

    Winners:
    1. Jim Jackson - consummate leader on the floor; good veteran; did a lot of small things good
    2. Mo Taylor - liked his hustle a lot especially on offense
    3. Steve Francis - went from goat in the first half - really awful to brilliant in the 4th quarter
    4. Cuttino - the only one who could consistently score when needed; it seemed like most of his shots were within the flow of the offense
    5. Van Gundy - man, even when things looked bad he kept it all together. I loved Rudy T, but I am very very happy with JVG. Nice defensive intensity throughout and great composure in the end.

    Losers:
    1. Yao Ming - really bad game (by his high standards) was a non-factor for most of the game, although his one baseline dunk and block were impressive
    2. Moochie - enough said, not terrible terrible, but we have to have someone else...
    3. Boki - looked like his shot wasn't falling (saw him during the warmups at halftime and he was hitting NOTHING - no wonder he didn't play at all during the second half) - still has potential
    4. TURNOVERS - whew, I can't believe we won a game like this. It was UGLY to watch live. Kinda boring at times as Rockets would turn it over, Nets would get it and take a jump shot, miss it, Rockets go back on offense; turn it over; repeat, rinse, wash. I was about done there.
    5. NETS - how could they lose this one! I really don't know how much it was the Rockets defense or the Nets missing some key offensive players like K-Mart, Lucious Harris, etc. Of course I don't mind that they were the losers :)

Overall glad it was a win, but it really wasn't "exciting." Maybe the small crowd had something to do with it. Of course all those turnovers and missed shots by both team wasn't all that fun to sit through.

Rockets will have their second loss this coming Tuesday against Heats, and Heats will win their first game this season.

A little too early...sorry, just cannot refrain from thinking about this.

I agree, we are watching him mature infront of our eyes. He is a SUPERSTAR!!!! If we thought he was good before just wait. Might be an MVP year!

Never fails to amuse me to read through the game thread and read these jumping-off-the-bandwagonner posts.

So you think that "superstar" Kenyon Martin would have made a difference? Pffffttt.

Rudy may be gone, god bless him, but apparently JVG is resuscitating the heart of a champion.

    Go Rockets.
