When deke was on the floor, the Mavs made a quick run to pull the lead up to 20+ since no one on the Rockets could score. Then JVG was force to put Yao back in early when Yao's already in foul trouble. When our perimeter players cannot score, Deke is not effencient. Deke plays well when our outside shoots fall.

I found these interesting statistics on another board:

    Rockets:
Yao and Tmac: 60 points (47% FG)
Rest of the team: 16 points (18% FG) :(

    Mavericks:
Dirk and Finley: 27 points (37% FG)
Rest of the team: 89 points (58% FG)

It's crystal clear that their team depth and role players have won the game for them.

This was a great season or i should say a trailer for the real movie. NOW we all know this team is a serious title contender with right players surrounding Yao and Mac. Some suggestions to upgrade our roster.

1st move would be to trade Sura, D.wesley. Simply because this back court combination Suck! They are streakey shooters and are slow to set up people. I would love to aquire a good PG, or a good SG for these players. In my opinion Earl watson, brevin knight, or J.kidd would do it.

2nd move would be to sign a FA. PF is an immediate need from FA, but it will be very hard to pry players like T.C and swift from their teams. I think we should sign a SG like Joe Johnson, Bobby simmons. If we get a pg from a sura-wesley trade than we should spent our money into players like joe and simmons. They can shoot, they are tall, and athletic and will do a better job stoping the penetration.

3rd move is to draft a PF. A PF who can simply REBOUND THE DAMN BALL. i don't care if he has any other skills. If he can rebound i will take it, because i know Mcgrady can create and dish it to him for open dunk just like he creates for Yao. Also J. howard will be back and we should consider bring Badiane back here.

players should be traded in next season.
    Moochie Norris
    Vin Baker
    Weatherspoon
    Bob Sura
    David Wesley
    Charlie Ward

players we should keep for next season
    Tracy
    Yao
    J.howard
    Mike james
    Ryan Bowen
    J.Barry
    Mt. Mutombo
    Scott Padgett

I actually agree with this. I would hate to lose Sura and Westly. But it we could get an athletic PF and SF/SG that would be great. Also taller/longer players.

    A SF/SG that are at least 6'6"

We need the length because of matchup problems in the west.

I am not as upset as we lost the two in a row at home after today's game. We are not good enough to win the title this year, so there is no difference if we lost in first round or third round. Today's lose maybe a good reminder for our managers to regroup our team and win in the future.

Let's think about the bright side and move on. We have a better future than we thought. (Plus, those Mavs will be crushed by Nash and Suns).

Tis better to Lose by 40

Is it better on the Heart to loose by forty as opposed to loose by a Unicorns/Mavbricks game winner???

I myself prefer the blowout coz loosing in the last minute would have killed me all summer.

No doubt it sucks to lose no matter the way but personally I'd much rather not enter the record books in the process. At least in 1948 they didn't record the games so we were spared footage from it tonight, but if someone in the future makes a move near our mark you can no doubt bet they will pull some out of the archives just like they did when New York was collapsing against San Francisco in the NFL playoffs a couple of years back.

Also it isn't like this series didn't have heartbreak we should have won both games 3 & 4 if not at least one which means this blowout never occurs and we are headed to Phoenix where we were 2-0 this season.

You put one too many o's in lose, pal. But I think losing by 40 is my worst case scenario. I'd have liked it to at least look respectable. I suppose in the end a loss is a loss though.

Yeah, the thing that sucks is that Mavs fans, and revisionist NBA historians will only remember game seven and be like "boy, the rockets sure got their asses whooped in that series" when everybody who watched this series knows the Rockets were the better team for the majority of the time.

The preoccupation with Nowitzki may have distracted the Rockets and Van Gundy from the other threats in the Dallas line-up. Jason Terry and Howard were daggers in Game 7. Maybe it would have better to put T-mac on Terry (who knows) since he was lights out.

Also, the Rockets were not as effective as Dallas in drawing fouls. Maybe b/c we don't flop/dive/act as well as they do. Conspiracy theory or not, bottom line is they got to the line more which reflected the shortcomings of the defense and also greatly affected what we can do offensively.

    Free-throws for the series:

    H-Town 137-173 79.1%
    Dallas 175-219 79.9%

I am not advocating Utah style flopping but T-mac and Yao need to learn some legit tricks to balance up the ledger. You know Yao is starting to get the RESPECT when he starts averaging over 10 FT/game.

I'll keep an eye on the play-offs but now that the Rox are gone, there is no one I'm really cheering for.

Dallas is the better team in game 7. It's tough to swallow especially when we got whup so badly, Dallas fans are gonna give me a hard time tomorrow.

Clutch was right, future is bright.

Sky is the limit for the Rockets. I can't find another combo in the league has their skill level and talent, and it helps that it seems like Yao and TMac really grow closer together.

Its highly unfortunate to lose by "history-breaking" proportions. I think this record is the most worthless piece of NBA history. No one will ever note that T-Mac sat the whole 4th quarter and the shot selection and effort was basically driven by the deficit at hand.... especially the elitist Maverick fans.

Well, I look forward to rooting for the Suns.

All teams lose games - even great teams lose big games. It can be sadi that the Mavericks are a better team in terms of pesonnel and organization so they should have won this series. This series was hard fought and evenly contested (until last night). Each game was a war and that is just about all a fan canask of his home team. In that respect, it's no disgrace to go down in a Game 7 on the road to a better team.

What IS disgraceful is to get completely outclassed while getting your ass kicked and making NBA history to boot: LARGEST PLAYOFF LOST EVER. To be this completely noncompetitive in a big game is simply inexcusable and no Rockets fan should accept whatever lame ass excuses that come from the mouths of the players, coaches and organization.

There are a number of misplaced "angry" threads directed at Dallas & its players because they didn't quit until the final buzzer. Well boo hoo! Anytime you lay down and let the other team raise their hind legs on you like that, you deserve all the humilation you get. Dallas has a right to crow - they just shoved a 40 point butt-kicking down our throats. The sad but true thing is that a loss of this magnitude will overshadow everything good the happened this year.

This should be a game that will sticks in the very craw of this organization. This loss should burn and hurt like no other because only then will the Rockets organization finally pull its head out of its collective behinds and start doing the SMART things that winning organizations do. That means start drafting players who can play in the NBA NOW and not sit on the bench for years in Italy, Greece, Antartica or whatever. That means closing the rest home for ex-Knicks players - Witherspoon, Ward, Baker and Norris should be sitting at the end of someone else's bench collecting paychecks. Any trades or free agent signings must be made with one thought in mind: get younger & more athletic because when you look at the teams ahead of us: The San Antonio, Phoenix, Dallas, Seattle - they all have a core of young athletic players that the Rockets lack.

Whoever is in charge of personnel here certainly has got their work cut out for them with little margin for error. If not, next year, we'll be back in the same spot: bounced out in the first round AGAIN.
