That wasn't AJ's fault. TMac didn't take a time out on the last play and just went straight into the offense. They didn't have a chance to talk it over but Van Horn should have seen the pick n' roll coming.

JVG definity outcoached Avery Johnson. The guy is such a genius. I loved his defensive schemes especially preventing Dirk from getting the ball for the last shot.

Besides the fact that I yelled, screamed, cheered, and fainted in today's game, I have never felt so happy and inspired by my team before. This is CLUTCH CITY all over again!! And as soon as the Rockets hit that shot, my phoe ewas rining off the hook.. now watch all the bandwagon fans come on board!! If you are going to the game in HOUSTON, bring your A gane! Cheer, Scream, Clap, and most importantly, bring those brooms, because... Clutch City is back!

To be fair, I think he was trying to NOT call out one of his own players (which is probably the right thing to do for a coach right after a tough loss). I think AJ handled it as he should have. There's no need to start blaming players after a game when you're the leader.

I liked the way Charles and Kenny try to imitate the way Avery talks on TNT after the game..

and Mutombo escorting out Mcgrady after the game.. he was like a bodyguard..

AJ coached a great game. When Van Horn was doubling we had major problems getting into the offense. It was a nice chess move. Van Gundy had to counter with Padgett and Sura.

The last play was sheer brilliance on Gundy's part. Knowing Dallas was expecting a time-out, their defense wouldn't be set...and why call a timeout when you have one of the great clutch players dribbling the ball down the court???

Rookie coaching mistake, he got burned by Gundy on the last play.

From the Associated Press game article, about the play the Rockets ran, tied at 111 each with 10.4 seconds left to play:

Running a play he and coach Jeff Van Gundy set up during the last timeout, but hadn't shared with anyone but Yao, McGrady escaped a trap in the backcourt and set up behind a Yao screen on the top right of the 3-point line. He buried a long 2-pointer, then made a sneering gesture as the Mavericks called time.

``We shocked them a little bit by not calling time out,'' McGrady said. ``My teammates didn't even know.

Sheer brilliance and guts. Hats off to JVG.

Look what i came across from the mavs forum

Because the officiating was horrid, especially early on.

Yao got away with everything. He set an unbelievable amount of moving screens. Dirk and other Mavs players drove the lane right into him, rarely did they get a call against Yao. All the push-offs down low and offensive fouls with his off-arm, not called.

Must have been a memo sent from the NBA, that Yao is not to be in foul trouble again... Concerned about the Chinese market...

i don't want to even start with this...

Just saw on ESPN that Yao's 13/14 shooting ties him for 4th all-time for the playoffs... tied with some guy named Dikembe Mutombo for his performance with Atlanta in the '99 playoffs!

    Damn we rule!

T-Mac, Rockets put Mavs down 2-0 in series

With Shaq and Kobe broken up, get ready for the era of Yao and T-Mac. It arrived in Game 2 of the playoffs.

You know what disappointed me? They didn't show how many shots those other guys took. I'm betting Yao took the most.

Dude, McGrady made that call, JVG just went along with it.

It was McGrady being like Jordan and calling the last play, and most importantly his coach trusting him and giving him the keys to lead his team on his back.

This is Phil JAckson and Michael Jordan all over again:D

Where are all the JVG haters now?
