I understand that but Lin should've realized what he was possibly signing up for. Why go to the same coaching staff that gave the ok to cut you again?

Yep, the 15+ games this season we have won that have been decided in 5 or less points, total coach McFail. terrible coaching job that we were able to beat teams like OKC, blow out Chicago UTA and golden state.

Good observation, McHale is like the most stoned-like coach I have seen.

This is just basic sub-adjustment common sense, back in the days, Rudy,
Gondy, Adelman, we can all trust them that they will make sensible sub decision when the hot bench player run out of steam.

Now that was indicative of gm, esp. 1st h. MT @flying_beagles: FWIW, knickstorm from CF: "Harden with worst +/- on Rockets tonight with -13"

Mr. Feigen was offering a plausible argument that "best plus/minus on Rockets tonight -- Robinson, Beverley, Delfino and Garcia" was the reason Coach played them in the 4Q.

I was trying to make a point that the same +/- reasoning won't work for Harden since he had -13 for the game. Shouldn't Coach have benched Harden along with other starters (Lin and Asik)?

Nothing embarrassing about discussing underlying arguments of using +/- stats in one game to justify playing bench players during crunch time in a loss.

I understand it's only 1 game but coaches should have the confidence to play their starters during crunch time, especially during a playoff race. 4Q is not the time to experiment with lineups.

If we end up missing the playoff by 1 game, Mr. Alexander himself will put a sticky on "Fire Coach McHale!" thread. Coach McHale rolled the dice and lost.

Who is the "one player" you believe I hate?

While I am not a fan of McHale as a coach, I totally disagree with your assessment of performance tonight.

"You went full Harden, man. Never go full Harden. You don't buy that? Ask Daryl Morey, 2013, "A New Age." Remember? Went full Harden, went home empty handed..."

That's when he didn't make terrible coaching mistakes, the team can win, but McHale need to not screw up on his end.

Rudy had a superior feel for substitution over those two.

    Adelman and Brad Miller... /shudders

No, because McHale trusts Harden to elevate his game in the 4th quarter.

I created a thread related to this topic a few months back. Maybe you'd find it interesting:

I think its a really bad time for the rockets as a team because of all the roster changes. I mean, teams need time to gel, right? You can't just stick people into the system and expect your offense and defense to run smoothly. I see a lot of the increased Parsons number due to the fact that he is still running the offensive system with Lin, and Harden gets his numbers by being Harden.

Defense is also a team activity. Good defense is only possible when you know where your help is, know what your roll man's defensive choices will be, and have decided which lanes you want to funnel your man into.

I seriously question this team's ability to trust each other with so many new players on the roster. Team defense isn't about how good you can 1v1... it looks a more like Asik who doesn't really shine in the eye test but causes the rockets to be #1 in half court D according to Morey's stats.

im not sure if you saw my post then but i was on beverly about that foul. i called it out and said it was a stupid foul by him. i dont just cal out a single player. if you dont believe me go back the the games where we lost against washington, delfino and the others that did bad got as much lip from me as lin did. People just like to single out Lin, and disregard everything else thats said about anyone else.

I had nothing to say about Lin this entire game, and i didnt mention him at all in this thread other than the fact that beverly was being more productive on the court than him and agreeing with coach that he should have been in the game. You'd never hear me say take lin out of he was doing what Bev did tonight. I gave lin major props on the dallas game sunday with the way he played in the game thread. pick and choose what you want to read.

The problem is the folks with the torches and pitchforks want blood..... However, the state of the Rockets is a lot more complicated than "McFail".
