look at this quote from tmac: i'm frustrated just by this quote

"When I brought up the ball, there were two guys on me and our offense became hesitant," McGrady said. "Guys didn't know what to do. We're too good for that."

if tmac is gonna get doubled that far, guys need to take the initiative. this is not like yao getting doubled where u can only shoot jumpers. when tmac is doubled out that far, the whole space is there for the taking. this happened last game. it happened this game. it's sad.

we need yao back so tmac can get less double teams, esp. vs teams like that.

but really, the team we have now just doens't have a lot of talent. battier is like bowen w/ a better shot. head is just a shooter. rafer is inconsistent. sometimes we have to try harder to win to overcompensate for yao and bonzi. we didnt tonight. guys were "hesitant"

This is not another Rafer bash, but the man cannot play defense, Harris just did what he wanted and Rafer cannot get back on fast breaks he just stands there and gets burnt.

Head can't be PG. he can't handle the ball under pressure and keep made bad decison. has to develop billy or bring another backup guard.

rafer is not a good man defender. but that's why we have to make them pay on the other end. harris and terry aren't great defenders either. but rafer is like a jump shooter. when he penetrates, all he does is the floater.

but he played decent tonight though

    No Bonzi
    No Yao

We need our full team to beat the top teams.
    We're fine.

I just wonder in the playoffs if AJ will still use a 10 man rotation or shorten it up to 8 man, because 8 for 8 I know we can take them on.

    Great Loss!

Once again it proves that we need Yao back in order to elevate to another level.

So ppl in this board won't get too excited and satisfied with this Yaoless Rockets team winning over mediocre teams.

Losses are never great, but this one comes at the right time for the right team.

BTW, I prefer to see any other teams over the Suns in the playoffs. Mavs are good, but as long as we meet Utah in the first round, everything is gonna be fine.

vSpan should thank his teammates for creating so many scrub minutes. JVG sucks though.

will still use? what was his rotation tonight?????

if you mean 2 on 2, fine, 8 on 8, the mavs are the deepest bench bar none. rox can beat the mavs not on the strength of the bench but simply because yao and tmac outclassing what they've got.

it's good to be positive, but don't go out and make statements that you can't backup.

Just to be clear, not only was he not the best, he wasn't even 2nd best. Didn't matter to VSpan. He's a point guard, a facilitator. VSpan is about the W. It's the only stat that matters to him, W. He's totally unselfish, a direct contrast to Lucas.

We only have 2 point guards on this roster. The others are just pretenders.

I am not a stat specialist, but I know many people here are. can some one please pull out how the score went when Head was on the court? I seriously believe that we got owned (scorewise) everytime Head came in.

I dont hate Head, I like the guy. he is a young player who can really shoot, but when it comes to mental basketball and IQ, I think he has a major weakness. nothing pisses me off more than seeing him pass on a wideopen, catch&shoot 3 to take a couple dribbles inside the line, get a defender on him, and shoot an offbalance brick. nothing kills me more than seeing him trying to be Magic Johnson and dishing out passes to the crowds in the 6th row or giving Howard a bowling pass on a fastbreak. finally, we look @ the defensive end where he typically gets burned by either small quick guards when he is playing the PG or he gets pwned by bigger, stronger guards who are 6'7 or 6'8 (yeah Kim, gotta love the small backcourt :D ).. I dont know what Luther has going with JVG, I seriously do not understand. Head must've persuaded JVG that he is so great that he cant be taken out when he is going 0 for the century (in a bad game). I am not blaming anyone here, it was a tough game and we weren't expected to win especially with our #2 and #3 weapons out of the lineup. I gotta give credit to the Mavs for playing smart basketball and exposing our weaknesses (through mismatch) and taking advantage of that. I hate SqueakyVoice Avery so much, but I really respect what he has done with my 2nd most hated team in the NBA (after the Lakers). he knew how to shut us down; he doubled Tmac all the way from midcourt to take the ball out of his hands and they made other players beat them, which didn't happen due to Luther's great shooting and TOs, JHO's offnight, battman's passive and somewhat negative offensive play, and finally, a typical rafer game (He didn't have a bad game, I actually think he did pretty well in the 1st half, but he started doing his beautiful teardrops, and that's when the quality of the play DROPPED).

I just want one thing: I dont want to see Luther get extended minutes when he is sucking like he did today. I would rather see Snyder getting back into shape (even if that means missing 5 layups) than Luther bricking threes, dribbling it off his foot, and throwing it to the 10th row. Luther is great in some situations (when the matchup is favorable and we have a dependable inside power "ie Ming or Bounce" of which we need to surround with good outside shooting to develop a killer game. but in games like tonight's, I dont think Luther should get more than 10-12 minutes simply because of bad matchups.

oh, and one more thing, I have to take my hat off to Vspan, I really liked the way he played today. I was very impressed with the 6 minutes he played, in which he posted 5 points on 2/3 shooting, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and most importantly, 0 TOs!! :D (even though it's against the scrubs of the scurbs). I would really like to see more of Span (like 5-6 minutes) on a consistent basis to give Rafer a breather and to eliminate Head's PG minutes (if Span can get 6 minutes, Mac can handle 7 minutes, that's 13 minutes rest for my man Skip).

sorry, one final thing again; I have to express my disgust of JL3. not that he had a bad game or anything (2/5 is considered superior to his historical 2-13 game), but I really dont think that this kid is NBA material. maybe a couple years in the NBDL will help him improve and develop this thing called "passing the ball" :D . but please JVG, if Alston is on the bench, get somebody other than the midget to play PG, I dont know who, invent a guy, play Deke @ PG if u want, just not John John because he gets on my nerves!! :D

span isn't going to get backup minutes because of this reason. try and find another way to justify it and then maybe the JVG will think about it

first off v-span only played 5 mins in garbage time. of course he got points. secondly he shoots SO LOW. if he was in the real game he would'e been blocked by dampier and diop many times.

head is too undersized to compete with jason terry and devin harris. he runs around like a chicken with his head off, and his midrange shot is not reliable. he also can't create his shot well and his handles are very subpar.

the only standout tonight was rafer and that was just the first half. i was surprised he made his floaters, but i know its just a once in a blue moon thing.

give credit where credit's due. dallas has a 10 man rotation with all guys being capable starters on any other team. there a matchup nightmae.
