I thought this too, if Dirk is going to flop, clock him one HARD !!!

Yao did...and that was fun to watch...make Dirk think twice about driving to the hole, turn him into a jump shooter only.

Oh...that changes things. Of course, without Mo, we would have lost this one.

    Oh wait...

Actually that works for anyone who drives to the hole. You just need a strong arm and stern mind. Anytime someone attacks the hole, use all your strength to chop on him forearms wanting to break them. Next time that guy will think twice before he drives. You got to take the advantage of the rule, physically hurt the opponents when rules allow.

    Yea... I liked that too.

Unfortunatley, Dirk is the best jump-shooter in the NBA right now, and probably will be up there with the best ever (Bird, Mullin, Havlicek, Pistol Pete, Petrovic, M. Price) when its all said and done.

it was a tough loss but had the refs called either the clear traveling by dirk OR the clear out of control offensive foul on him then we would have won in overtime. this one was atleast exciting though.

Why didn't JVG double earlier in the game? Ya, we were able to keep up without doubling. But when the Rockets finally did double Dirk, he passed it instantly, and were sending Barrett to double!!

Dirk isn't a good passer, we definitely should have doubled him and get the ball out of his hands.

Thanks for the heads up...now i get to see some of the game...just got home a bit ago and at least i get to see the best of the game.

Even though we lost i just like how it looks like T-Mac finally took control of the situation and started being aggressive.

Maybe him and JVG finally sat down and figured that he needs to do this more often

    I hear ya.

One thing I'm even more dissapointed about is that JVG did not give Nachbar a shot at defending Dirk. Nachbar being 6'10 and able to move well laterally would have been our best defensive matchup in that situation. man I can't believe he didn't try that.

Of course Ryan Bowen would have been an even better choice if he was available.

but damn I seriously doubt Nowitzki has his way with Nachbar defending him the way he had his way with Taylor and Howard.

Hey, if Nowitzki had shot 85% from the foul line instead of 99%, the Rockets would have won the game in regulation...

    When he can, he did.
On the one play that got blocked, he was off balance after he got the rebound and banged up with an opp. He was falling back when he tossed that one up.

It's easy for us to sit here and demand Yao to do something that we think "we" can do.

People who don't think Yao wants to be agressive, to be quicker, to grab all rebound, to dunk all balls are mad. He wants to but being able to is another thing.

Give Tmac three games like this in a row(It doesn't have to be 48 pts, but taking the ball and doing his thing as the main offensive weapon) then the team will be alright. Yes we lost, but tonight could be the beginning of our real adjustment period. Before now it wasn't about the players learning to adjust, it was about the players not giving it their all. If Tmac were truly to take control, and do this on a consistent basis, then the rest of the team would fall into their roles, look for ways to help out, on both ends of the court, because at last Tracy is giving them something to play hard for. Once tmac establishes himself, then it will be easier to effectively work Yao into the mix as well.

We just need several games in a row like this from tmac so that people see it isn't a fluke. Then we can start adjusting, and developing chemistry, and letting the players get used to each other. Then we can start winning regularly, talk about whether JVG should our coach, and what trades we need to make.

But until our team finds out who they are, it is pre-mature to talk about any of that other stuff.

I don't think Yao will ever be aggressive. It is just not in his nature. The man has been playing this way for 22 years and now you want him to change? If he is soft, he is soft period. You can't change who you are. Yao learned to play basketball in China where the level of agressive play is alot lower than over here. These NBA players have been playing like this since high school. It is the only way they know how to play. You cant expect Yao to get that tenacity in a couple of NBA seasons. We need a power forward that will take the pressure off of Yao to fight for rebounds.

Sure those 15 rebounds last night and 18pts and 8 rebounds every game are a waste.

But not so much as Amed the poster...now THAT is a waste.

18 pts a game when the whole offense is built around you is not ok. 18 pts a game when everyone else is sacrafising thier own offensive game for you is not enough. 18 pts a game is not enough when everytime down the court the damn ball is thrown inside to him. If you are satisfied with 8 boards from your starting center who is 7'6'' then you should be ok with Mo Taylor's 3 boards a game. Yao's averages may be 18 and 8 but when the Rox need him to step up and play big he comes up with a 9pt 2 reb game. Listen the post game show on 610am and you will hear intelligent callers bashing Yao for his bad play. I am not the only one who can see that Yao is way overrated and that JVG is making a huge mistake by hand cuffing TMac just to get the ball inside to Yao. Yao is not Hakeem and he never will be so running the Olajuwon offense for Yao is just plain stupid.
