the season is going better than i expected. the head coach is inexperienced, damn near a rookie himself, and his charges are mostly rooks.

Well, they may not be very good but at least they play hard lol.

Hopefully Green can learn how to diversify his offense a bit over the next year or two. Getting to the rim consistently will help when he's off from 3.

It is a little ironic that if Wall played and bought in to being the person he was for years on the Wizards we'd probably have our players getting decent looks and having a chance to succeed without really hindering their development. KP could still learn on the job, and he's be watching a former elite level PG in game situations. Just such a weird and silly direction the team took tbh.

Lord knows we got enough bench players to send a message to the other teams and the refs. They were bullied last night and the refs ate their whistles. I hate the whole rookies got earn the call bs. Full Lambeer is a criminal offense charge in 2021 lol but yeah. Definitely need someone to take that challenge of will power. You're not just gonna mug my guys, we mug back. We can play ball or we can play mugs lol

Coach not taking a T over it is some very weak lemonade. Porter got that T but he did it at kind of a weird spot, at least he had the fortitude to say the magic words to the ref.

I don't expect brawls and fighters and that kind of stuff but man, it killed my competitive spirit the way they accepted those hard fouls.

But thought I was watching different game than everyone on game thread who blamed Porter for everything from the loss to the pandemic to world hunger.

Same guys sharting on Porter are making excuses for the rooks.

The common enemy should not be a player learning a brand new position, it should be the crappy coaching.

I will say however thank goodness we were not getting stomped like the TWolves. I am very concerned about our coaching, and I was dreading a season like that lol.

Yeah the reason I didn't want Wall on the court is because I wanted the rookies to get touches frequently.

It's only taken 4 games for me to put KPJ into the same class as Wall. Get him away from the young'ens ASAP so their growth isn't stunted and we're losing for no reason.

I don't need much more repetition of these 7 turnovers per game, games.

Amen to that he seems to be looking for the correct play but he is not seeing it and then when it appears he forces it and Bang a turnover.

Yeah I think he is not ready to orchestrate the majority of the offense and stay aggressive himself. He is a combo guard not a pure point.

I think we shoud have tried Garuba on Luka Doncic. We can do the same thing against slower, super strong star point guards, like LeBron and Harden. We probably have to have small-ball 4 (KMJ, House or Tate) in that line-up to make the offense work. For example, Defense 1 Garuba, 2 Green 3 KPJ 4 Tate 5 Wood Offense: 1 KPJ, 2 Green, 3 Tate, 4 Garuba, 5 Wood. That would work beautifully.

His jump shot is actually aight. He’s shooting. Above 40% on jump shots and most most of those are with a lot of contact. And not a lot of good looks/unassisted. His pg’s and facilitators aren’t finding him for open shots. His fg percentage is down because of his drives which he never tecoves a whsitle on. If you think JG is chucking we’re not watching the same game, his teammates are severely selfish and letting him down. If he later I t he GSW system or spurs system, he’s easily be rookie of the year. His teammates aren’t looking for him off the curls and all that off the ball movement. He would have more unassisted shot attempts if he just shot after catch instead of dribbling around first.

His instinct is to always create but in the NBA he needs to hone his set shot, got to shoot it when open, that window closes fast.

Discipline and focus is a coaching issue.

The Rockets might have had reason to believe they got a bad whistle. Kevin Porter Jr. absolutely was right to believe he was fouled a possession before his technical foul.

Just as players have to take the next shot with confidence after they miss, they must move on to the next play when the officials mess up. The Rockets could not.

“I think we let the refs kind of get out of the game in the third quarter and that kind of affected us a little bit,” Rockets center Christian Wood said.

This was not a new problem. The Rockets did that to a degree in the season’s first game and even more on Sunday against the Celtics.

There was a possession against Boston when Gordon was spinning his arms in the universal travel signal while a Celtics player knocked down a 3 in front of him. But Gordon, who has been a meme machine for his reaction to calls and no calls, also does not let it impact his play. The young Rockets often seemed frustrated.

“That’s a natural thing,” Rockets coach Stephen Silas said. “For younger guys, it’s just natural to look, not necessarily for excuses, but to be distracted by referees and other stuff going on instead of staying the course and understanding it’s going to take us being focused on what’s important, which is how we play.

“I thought we did a good job as far as playing hard and staying in the game and withstanding their runs, all that. But we did get a little bit distracted and that happens.”

Third quarter gets away from Rockets

“I think we were kind of over-penetrating at times,” Silas said. “I thought we were distracted by the referees. Young guy stuff where you’re trying to do too much at times. Not reading what is available.

“We need to learn from it, grow from it, know that the beginning of the third quarter is so, so very important as far as setting the tone for how you’re going to play for the rest of the half.”

The Rockets play hard. That is probably a good place to start. But they have not yet found a way to mix all that energy with efficient execution.

“I love the way we competed,” Rockets forward Christian Wood said. “We had energy the whole game. I just thought the game got away from us in that third.”

The Rockets have hit bad stretches in each of their losses, falling too far in the second quarter against Minnesota and the third against Boston and Dallas. That happens in most NBA games but the Rockets’ slide on Tuesday especially seemed self-inflicted. That also could make it correctable.

“It’s all about being composed,” Gordon said. “As long as we do that and make reads, we’ll be fine.”

The Rockets played 2 pretty good teams for a solid 3 quarters with refs allowing them to be man handled the whole game. They are progressing nicely and will be very competitive by the last quarter of the season. They will then get another nice draft class and can start wheeling and dealing for veterans that can take us to the next level. Stone knows what he is doing, Silas maybe not but the jury is still out.

Handle some of the pressure.

Be able to play off an actual playmaker.

Our rookies develop a winning attitude and a winning mentality.

We would be +2 in the W column this early into the season, and you argue Wall is good for 5 wins...

When the rockets play the lakers in a back to back next I don't know who I want to lose more. As you know I would love the Rockets to get one more top 4ish pick before they hopefully revert back in the other direction. It would be high comedy if the rockets won both games regardless.
