He was pretty good... but they still got away with Josh Howard playing center for 3-4 minutes at a time (which helped them steal game 3). Also, it was still primarily the Yao-Tmac pick and roll that was killing them (not just Yao in the low-post).

Now, Yao is at a level to where they couldn't even consider it.

The Mavs forced us to adjust tonight... they really continued to do whatever they wanted to do out there, even when T-mac was going off.

When the day comes (Yao+T-mac both fully healthy, Bonzi/Snyder contributing), WE will be the ones who make teams adjust... WE will force other teams to scrounge their bench to find answers.

I can discern that you deeply dislike the guy, you just haven't told us why.

Why? It's just a meaningless, baseless, idiotic post.

We can outrun more than half of the teams, but we can't against Dallas, Phoenix, which happen to be the 2 biggest threat to Rockets IMO. When playing these 2 teams, you need to slow the pace down and play half-court offence. There are different correct ways against different teams.

Our offence tonight looked all right, even Yao's back would not make a big difference until 4th quarter. The problem is on D, which always occurs in transition when you play fast tempo offence.

Devin Harris and Josh Howard were at 4 fouls in the 3rd quarter- one more foul on Josh Howard, would have put the Mavs on the defensive.

And I really cant believe that it takes that long for us to counteract to Devean Georges scoring- after 2 consecutive 3 pointers we should have known ( from the Jason Terry deluge in the play offs 2 years ago)

Great Great Game by Tmac- it was just amazing to watch him shoot with authority. Tough loss- but I guess it was expected.

without yao, if we were to win either of these 2 games vs. Dallas or Phoenix, it is just gravy. These are games that we are not supposed to win. We need to win the games we are supposed to win and when we add in the probable league MVP, 30 and 10 a night, nobody can play with us. Look how great we have played w-o Yao, imagine if we had him. This season still is very, very promising, we still have a chance to do a lot, but we shouldn't panic over this game, or tommorow's game.

They said he looked a little uncomfortable walking off the court... but that could easily be mis-interpreted as EXTREME FATIGUE after he just played his heart out for 40 hard minutes.

He wasn't having spasms... if that was the case, he wouldn't have been able to walk off the court.

When I heard Bill said Dallas had a much deeper bench, I wanted to laugh. In JVG's dictionary, there is no entry like "deep bench". No matter who's on the bench, he will play 7 players, or 8 at most.

We all saw what VSpan can do on the offensive end in the world games. We all know Novak can shoot. We all know Bonzi can contribute. But they are not playing. So please do not bring up "deeper bench". It's not in Rox play book!

The problem with playing physical is.......

    well we CAN'T

We don't have ALonzo Morning or Udonis Haslem. We need to follow Miami's blueprint.

Demote Juwan to provide scoring spark off the bench and get KElvin Cato from the Knicks or PJ BRown for the Bulls to start

Eventhough we lost, as I expected, I am actually quite happy to see the short handed Rockets gave the Mavs a run for their money.

Lets not be so pessimistic here. Without Yao and a short bench, we were able to play the Mavs better than I thought.

We definitely can challenge the Mavs with Yao and a healthy Snyder and Wells (if he is still around).

I don't know about you, but I am excited about this team chances this year. I am even more excited to see the old Tmac back.

Now all we need is to make it into the playoff with a full and healthy roster.

Rafer didn't shoot well inside the arc, but 4-5 from long range isn't good, it's outstanding. What I strongly dislike about a handful of the Rafer apologists is that no matter how poorly Rafer plays on nights, they're not able to admit that he negatively impacted the team in any way. The same has to apply vice-versa. You have to be willing to sincerely recognize when he plays well if you want your criticism to be taken seriously, and tonight Rafer didn't do the team wrong in this regard.

That doesn't mean I don't want the Rockets to get another PG to backup and/or take over for Rafer, but if he played like he did in Sacramento and Dallas on a consistent basis, there would not be much of a need.

the mavs were too deep, no way we could have kept up with them in our depleted state. great game by tmac, obviously he ran out of gas, but just seeing him shoot like he knows its going in is a welcome sight. once yao gets back, and bonzi gets back and all that, i know it'll be a different game. we'll have two dimensions, namely, freakishly good beast of a man inside, and freakishly good stick of a man on the outside. sounds good to me!
