The game changer was Devin George

I like JVG so this is not an indictment on him.

However, the course of the game changed when Deke was playing George and they left Devin George wide open for consecutive 3's. Rockets were up by 12 at the time. That's how the Mavericks got on a roll and never looked back.

I don't believe the Mavericks would have won if they didn't get going right there at the 8 minute mark of the third quarter by Devin George

Devin George is out there to shoot 3's and play defense. We left him wide open.

At the same time, we needed Deke out there, because we got killed on the boards when he wasn't in.

Games like these show that Juwan is not a starter on this team. I love him, but I think we need a rebounding 4 and bring Juwan off the bench for a spark.

Tmac got exhausted by the end of the third quarter, so Bonzi would have been helpful as well to spot Tmac.

They clearly had automatic weapons and we were defending with swords.

In any event, the Rockets fought hard, they simply were outtalented. Good effort overall

    LOL - uh, yeah......whatever !

They missed shots they normally make because they were contested shots instead of wide open and it changed the rythmn of the game.

That is my point.....if your main look isn't working...toss in something else to force them to adjust then go back to your main defense.

But, you got to try SOMETHING....

JVG's entire defensive scheme is to give up the 3 ball...and against teams that can make that shot....he needs to try something else....

Watch tomorrow night....3 balls will be wide open, and that is bad defense.

He is doing that way to much during since Yao went down. When the playoffs get here, the guys are going to be toast, esp. t-mac, and Yao will be rusty. He has to start playing more players, and resting mcgrady more. Bonzi ready to play and he needs to be the #1 scoring option while Mac is resting. Snyder's size and defense would help a lot as well.

Man, Dallas is one hell of a deep team. NO superstars showed up for them tonight. But man, seems that everyone did exactly what they needed.

TMAC.....wow. So glad he was shooting like that again.

Dallas is just too deep, devin george, howard, dirk, terry, damp etc. etc.

That team is good, damn good.

OK. It seems that we still need Yao. Let's not trade him for now. ;)

This game may have repurcussions...the starters expended a lot of energy...we need to look out for injury, missed jumpers, bad defense in the next couple games...

I don't think it would have done any good tonight. The Mavs were passing the ball better than they usually do and would have carved it up by attacking the basket and dishing out, which is EXACTLY what they did against the man to man and the double teams. We were a step slow on defense and in rebounding, which is why we lost. Why we were slow after two days off is beyond me. Our defense tonight reminded me of the Sonics & Grizz games that we were lucky to win.

even with YAO, we might lose this game too.
But this game can give JVG a reminder: we need more balanced offense, not solely on TMAC. Once he got tired, ROX done.

Game effort by the Rockets but after TMac, the Mavs have soooooo much more talent, much, much mooooooooore talent. Many of their bench players are as good or better than our starters. The Rockets played hard, but the Mavs can just keep coming with more and more talented players. Too much.

You needed to make a seperate thread for this?

But yea, we blew that 13 point lead in like 2 minutes. Next thing you know, we are starting to fall behind. Thats typical.

People, THE ROCKETS HAVE NO BENCH! With no Bonzi, Snyder, or Yao, we're not deep. We can only go 7.5 men deep. Tomorrow Bonzi and Snyder should play, so we'll be fine. I expect us to win 2morow.

I wish our defense had been better, but those are the breaks. What slightly concerns me is T-Mac shot 12-16 from the field to start (abnormal), Rafer shot lights out from three-point range (abnormal) and we still lost. We don't have an answer for Josh Howard in any shape or fashion and the deals with the devil that Luther Head and Chuck Hayes signed look to have expired in 2007.

I really don't have any complaints (despite the fact I just listed some). We don't have the player that arguably was on pace to be the MVP and one that Dallas simply has no way to stop. If both Yao and T-Mac are healthy and Rafer shoots from three-point range well like he has in both games this year against the Mavs (not holding my breath), I don't think Dallas beats us.

this question might sound naive and just plain right stupid but:

why dont the Rocket's organization take a page out of the Maverick's playbook and start spending money to get some bench help? I mean, the Mavs are waaayyy over the cap limit due to thier splurging on quality backups. Why cant the Rockets dig deep into thier pockets and grab a few quality backups?
