Another stellar performance from Yao Ming !!! Winning streak extended to 3 now. Hope tomorrow will be shooting-the-Sun day for the Rockets !! BOX SCORE PHOTO GALLERY
The REAL test will be tomorrow against the Suns. This is the challenge for the JVG's coaching. Real test for the so-called new and improved Yao Ming. Yao is averaging 7pts 4rebs against the suns this season. Those are Andrew Bogut and Darko Millic's type of numbers. And i doubt Yao can do anything against Suns' fronting and triple teams. Rockets need T-mac to get in the zone and burn the Suns 40 plus points to win this one. JHo, Rafer and Wesley must make their shots.
The only thing that's bothering me and does hurt us quiet often this season is that we're not a good outside shooting team, certainly worse than last season. Our only real consistent shooter (3-point specialist, whatever you want to call him) is Jon Barry, and he's lucky these days if he gets a minute of PT every other game. The Suns will be real tough tomorrow night, I hope we're making our shots for a change come game time. On a sidenote: is Grant Hill a free agent after this season? I think either he or Penny would be good, cheap "rentals" at the SF spot to give T-Mac some rest and help give us a scoring punch off the bench. Just a thought...
Tonight's 19pts is a "sub-Tmac game". As we've seen often, McGrady generally comes back from a "sub-Tmac game" with a monster performance on the order of 38+point/8 reb. Look for Tracy to go off against PHX. If he does, it's just up to the rest of the team to keep up with the lead dog.
True that. Let's not get carried away. We still have to prove that we can play against the upper echelon teams and win against them. To be fair let's not forget the similar type of defense Seattle employed against the Rockets in the 95-96 western conf semi's. Not much different outcome for the Dream that game (3/9 shooting, 6 pts, 4 rbs in 34 minutes). This one IS on JVG to come up with something different to give us a chance.
Fox 26 is going to have something about a JVG "family reunion" when he was in Orlando...I think him and Stan got together. The segment should be coming up shortly...
Hill's contract expires next year. Penny would be interesting, heard he was rehabbing in Houston so I guess he lives in Houston? Don't know if we can sign him for the vet minimum, strikes me as a Latrell type that won't play for the min.
penny's career is done. I cant see him doing anything remotely useful for an NBA team in the future. He was god awful in New York and he only got worse. No reason to sign him when you can get younger and cheaper talent. As for Grant Hill, he's an interesting case. I think he'd be a great 6th man like Antonio McDyess is for the Pistons. He'd be a great rotation guy and an excellent guy for locker room chemistry. I'd love to get him on board but you can never count on his health. Maybe playing less minutes would spare him the injuries.
hey guys, does anyone have this game on video (via torrent, etc.)? i hope someone recorded it and can make it available to share (R2K?!?). sorry to be such a needy rocket fan....can you blame me? we all are needy, we need our rockets to make the playoffs! any help/tips would be greatly appreciated by me and all those other fans who don't get televised coverage!! tks
