So clearly you are not a Rockets fan.

Thanks for your insights. T-Mac has a bad back, Mutombo is old, Lucas is short, and Yao is foul prone. Thanks for opening all of our eyes to the truth. I don't know how I never picked up on these things before.

that's exactly what I was thinking. Nobody is forcing him to watch.

The other thing he said was that he holds his breath when Yao and Tmac play. If that's the case, then maybe he just likes holding his breath for no reason. :p

Outside of last year, Yao and Tmac have never missed substantial time.

I highly doubt that anyone on the Rockets will go to the NBDL this year. Anyone that JVG cares about developing will not go to the NBDL. It's totally against his philosophy. He believes that players are better off practicing with the team and under his coaching staff. Gerald Fitch was the only guy we sent down last year, and the Rox had no intention of developing him. There's no doubt that the team cares about developing both VSpan and Lucas seeing that both were given have multi-year contracts.

i thought he was waived because of the amnesty clause where it doesn't count towards the cap?

Here are some post game quotes from today.

    http://www.nba.com/magic/news/Postgame_Quotes.html

Orlando Magic 94, Houston Rockets 90

Orlando Magic Head Coach Brian Hill:
“I know all you media people are happy that the exhibition period is over and now we get to the real season. Nice to walk out with a win tonight but we got four good days of work ahead of us before we get ready for Chicago to come in for game one.”

    On start of the game
“I thought we got a little impatient offensively… at times I thought we got a little into a quick shot game in the beginning of the game, but other than that I like our defense. We had active hands. We forced 21 turnovers and got 31 points off those turnovers, which was huge as far as the outcome of the game, so I like the way we started for the second game in a row.”

On if Dwight is ready for the regular season
“I don’t want to talk about the whole season, but he’s ready to play. To me there’s a huge difference between this time this year and this time last year with Dwight. He’s just so much more confident, so much more sure of all the different situations on the floor both offensively and defensively that he’s encountering. He’s playing with a real focus and intensity right now.”

On how well the defense played
“I like to think with as much work on it we did on it last year and emphasis that we made with it this year, I would like to think we are going to be a better defensive team this year. Because we are in our second year now in our philosophy, there are still things we need to iron out, but I think again we are much further along now then we were a year ago with our defensive concepts. (That) doesn’t mean we don’t have a long way to go, but I see us getting better and better as we move through the preseason.”

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Orlando Magic Guard Grant Hill:
“I’ll be ready for Wednesday. Just trying to find my rhythm, rusty a little last week, just trying to get my rhythm, the next four days will do that, four days of practice. I’m looking forward to that. We still have some work to do. I mean, you know, six and two is good, buy now it’s for real. So we’re going to have tomorrow off, then get after it Saturday through Tuesday. An important stretch of practice for us, fine-tuning, get everything worked on because once we throw it up for real, we’re not going to have four days, a four day period of time to work on things. We have to get sharp, get our legs, get timing, get on the same page. It’s not that we’re not on the same page; just get everything ready to go.”

“I think I’ll be ready. And it’s a long season so I’m not too concerned; looking to personally get myself right, get myself ready in the next few days.”

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Orlando Magic Forward/Center Dwight Howard:
“Just really trying to get in the groove this year and just play as hard as I can. Be leader for our team and just really concentrate at end of the games and just try and come out with a lot of energy.”

“I’m really working on my passes out of double-teams, my overall passing and also my free throws, really concentrating on that.”

(On Mutombo’s finger-wagging) “Oh, just try and go, keep going at him. And really trying to dominate him every time I get a chance to and that’s what I try to do to him every time I play him.”

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Orlando Magic Forward/Center Tony Battie:
“I was really impressed, we got down, the way Dwight led us back. It started with him, and climbed back into the game. That was encouraging to see.”

(On Dwight’s improvement) “I see patience, he understands and reads the double-teams a lot better, he’s passing out of the double-teams is a lot better. I mean, he’s ready this year. This year will be big year for Dwight Howard. This is where he goes from eight to 10, you know. So I think he did it, he led the charge tonight and got us back into the game. We came out sputtering a little bit in the second half, a little flat in the third quarter. So he led the charge.”

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Houston Rockets Head Coach Jeff Van Gundy:
    On Dwight Howard…
“He seems like a great guy number one. Number two he’s very athletic and third he’s improved his skill level. The coaches have done a great job with him here. He’s much better against double teams and has cut his turnovers down.”

    On Yao Ming’s injury…
“I don’t really know. It’s minor, nothing big, but I don’t know. I haven’t spoken to Keith (Jones, Head Trainer) about it.”

    On how the starter’s played…
“I thought we started slow again. We turned it over too much. I thought they did better in the third quarter.”

    On Tracy McGrady’s aggressive play…
“I thought he looked okay. His free-throw shooting is of concern because he gets there so much you want to cash in. But other than that it’s unusual for him to have turnovers but other than that he looks fine.”

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Houston Rockets Center Yao Ming:
    On…how ankle injury occurred tonight
“I was just boxing out for a defensive rebound and I don’t know who pushed me from behind. My ankle got bent over too far. It is not a big problem. It was just a preseason game. I thought safety would be better.”

    On…Rockets playoff chances this season
“I believe we can get into the playoffs. There is no question. Even if we have an injury we should still make it to the playoffs.”

On…whether new shoes may be affecting him
“My shoe is fine. I think it is not a shoe problem. The doctor who did my toe nail surgery doesn’t think it is a shoe problem. It should be something else, but we just don’t know. Right now, the shoes that I wear are just fine.”

    On…Dwight Howard
“His body is a lot stronger than last year. It feels that way. His free throws have improved. That is a big difference and you can stay on the court for the last couple minutes as the other team uses its fouls. That is a big difference. He also rebounds, he blocks shots, he is an inside scorer who can help his team a lot.”

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Houston Rockets Forward Shane Battier:
    On…his new beginning in Houston
“It is always nice to be appreciated and wanted in a new situation. We have a good group of guys here. It is a very competitive Western Conference, and I hope we can stay healthy and look forward to playing my role.”

    On…having two superstar teammates
“It makes my job a heck of a lot easier to have two guys to throw the ball to and have them produce. It is my job to compliment them and keep opposing defenses honest against them by making shots and making plays off the ball.”

    On…Grant Hill
“Grant is my hero. He is the guy I try to emulate. I have been doing that since high school. He is everything that is right about professional sports. I know he has had a tough go of it the last couple of years with his health, but it really makes me feel good to see him out there playing at a high level.”

I new it had to be a racial slur when Mutombo got pissed off. Those "fans" are plain stupid. There not even fans. He was making him self look more like a dumbass when he started waiving his arms around.

What the hell did that racist loser say to Mutombo that Deke almost went postal on him?

Deke is one of the very few pro athletes that I have respect for. If I was in the stands, I would have knocked him out cold and face the consequences.

BTW,did you guy see the shirt he was wearing, what a loser? Anyone know what his race is? He looks kind of f**ed up to me!

It wasn't a bad loss, our scrubs are role players at best..they can't play together as a group and dominate...so no need to worry. It's hard to execute plays in the nba when there's 5 scrubs in hte game.
