We know that! but the preseason are important to those players who need to prove something. They need to show some improvement in order to get the confidence of the coach. .Right now, what we need from Boki is some offensive consistency

Out of all the new role players fighting for their jobs. Ryan Bowen and Hakings seem to be the "best" of the group. Bowen for his hustle.

After this game, I realize why the Rockets signed Bob Sura.

I don't expect them to beat other teams starters, but the display tonight was pitiful. Reece Gaines looked HORRIBLE. Boki looked HORRIBLE. Reece Gaines got clowned by the Magic's back up rookie point guard, who happened to fall 5 places behind where Gaines was taken the previous year. I'm mostly just concerned with point guard through small forward. A lot of that may be resolved when Sura returns. It still seems like we could use at least one more solid player.

I don't think Boki went backwards as did Gaines. Gaines was not all there - he was in orbit somewhere.

Boki on the other hand did for 36 minutes what he usually does for 5 or 15 or 25 minutes. He wasn't worse - he just didn't have a break out game.

He is still trying to force his game on both ends and that's hurting him.

I still hold out hope he will become more reliable as this season progresses.

Unless he show something during the regular season, this will be Boki's last year with the Rox. No way he gets an extension before the deadline. He just looks awful when he shoots, you can tell he's going to miss right after the ball leaves his hand.

No wonder he was dunking everything at that pre-draft practice. He can't hit anything consistently over 5 feet away.

Spoke too soon, I guess. He said he was "trying to restore his reputation." Not really helping things, is he?

    :( Franchise looks sad..
    I came here as a Yao's fan...now I'm SF's fan also...
I'm going to support Magics, they will be my second favorite team because of Franchise..
yeah I know some of you don't like him, but I have to say he did tried his best to play for houston, he spent five years here and was our leader on the court..
I like him, he is not a bad guy...
    Go SF, good luck!

I think alot of that is because he's shooting with basically twice the arm than he use to. I remember a couple years ago Kobe did alot of weight training in the offseason and for the first couple weeks of the season his shot wasn't falling because he hadn't made the correct adjustments to his shot. I think yao will become more comfortable with the added bulk in his arms in due time and will start to get a few more of the jumpers and such to fall.

If JVG is trying to trade the last of the Rudy T regime, Mo's value went up with his play against the Magic. He hs 3 years left at around $9 million per season. This means he would have to go to a team to be a primary or secondary scorer to make his contract worth swallowing.

I agree. There were several times when Yao should have at least attempted to take over the rockets' offense. It seems like he was happy just getting double teamed and passing out. There were at least two times where he hesitated and got fouled, when he could have dunked + foul.

Where's the agression? He got bigger - take it out on somebody...

Didn't see the game because NBA League Pass is only showing certain preseason games but from looking at the comments posted here, I'm afraid that my initial impression of Gaines was dead on the mark. He got outplayed by Jameer Nelson and is basically a non-entity on the court. There was a reason why he could not get on the court much for a losing team last season. There was also a reason why the Bobcats did not want him in the expansion draft. Last night, folks got to see those reasons in full display.

This guy is a puzzle: he has the size and pedigree to be far better than he has shown to date and yet he may just be another of those great college players who could not elevate their game for the NBA. The problem here is that Dawson & company actually believed that this guy was a player when the evidence clearly says that he's not and so we have (yet) another warm body sitting on our bench that will not be of much help this season.

JJ and T-Mac will have to log very heavy minutes because of Boki and Gaines which will hurt us badly.
Our bench is weak. We don't have many options. I don't know if Hawkins should be signed for a 10 day contract but he is strong and tries to drive to the basket.
Mo played better but I wish he would take rebounding more seriously than just scoring. Yao needs to use his improved strength.Playing soft will hurt us in the regular season.
