Ok, I didn't see the game. But as I hear about it, and as I look at the box score, I think JVG did a brilliant thing here:

It's preseason, but we're up against a tough team that really wants to beat us because of chemistry (the big trade). So JVG said, "Okay, Boki, Reese.. show me what you got. Here's your chance to shine."

And all the Boki fans here, who have been yapping about Boki not getting a chance to shine, finally got to see him play 36 minutes.

    But he didn't shine.

I think that it's clear now, that Boki is what he is. He's not a strong talent who's being wasted on the bench. He's just Boki.

JVG needed to give him and Reese a chance to shine, and he knew it. This was a perfect time for that, but they blew it.

Boki would shine in an offense where he can slash and play off the ball.

He can not create his own shot, or beat someone off the dribble.

In Utah, or Sacremento he would be a major contributor.

He is a slasher, and if he does not fit on the Rocks, he will find the cash to slash somewhere else.

    :)

This team better stay away from the #15 picks in the future.

What's the latest on Yao's hand? I hope he isn't injured.

I'm glad that some of you want (and expect) our bench players to be able to beat other teams starters. This is a good goal to have.

Evey bit of fine-tuning helps -> shooters, defensive specialist, and rebounders. Something to think about when we are looking to improve our depth in the near future.

Doubtful. Just because the guy can't really shoot or do much on offense doesn't mean you can then just plug him into a system with backdoor cuts and expect him to become a contributor.

The guy only scored what, 10 pts a game for Benetton before we drafted him? It can't really be that surprising that he's offensively overmatched in the NBA.

This was a painful game to watch.

Low point was Gaines getting stripped then scored on by Jameer Nelson - not once - but twice - in 5 seconds.

    Schooled by the Rookie!!!

What's weird is that Yao hasn't looked at all sharp offensively this preseason. He's getting great looks, pretty good position, and his stamina is good. He's just not getting the ball in the basket. Too many weak little push shots and not enough dunks.

Look at the field percentage, his number is not bad at all except today's game.
The disappointing part for Yao in this game is that he didn't show much focus and strength to power through when he was the only starter in the game.

Didn't see the beginning, but in the end Yao and the three ex Rockets talked and hugged, while during one part of the game, Yao and Franchise were standing next to each other and joking while Cat shot a technical FT.....by the way Cato won the tip.

Wow.....Boki is a piece......why do people keep praising/hyping him for what he "could do" or "could be" He had his chance tonight and he blew rod .... for 36 minutes. Useless useless useless. I say get rid of him.

Very embarrasing I must say. I saw it and I just shook my head. Now I am convinced that JVG would likely cut Gaines and keep Hawkins. Gaines is definitely not in Hawkins league.

Jameer looked really nice. I though his size would be a problem for him in the NBA.

I am a huge Boki fan but I has dawned on me that he needs a lot of work. I am not convinced that it will be a good idea for the Rox not to pick up his option year. This will hopefully help him to probably push harder. Right now he has zero confidence in his jump shot and that will not cut it in JVG's team. I hope he picks it up during the season but I will not be too saddened if he is gone after this season. I am still on his badwaggon but I will be a mute bandwaggon fan of Boki. He has let me a down so far.

PS. I hope JVG cuts Gaines and send Coach Rick Pittino a hate mail for developing such an ugly product. Yuck!!!

In the NBA, you need more game than just slashing to the basket. Shooting, ball handling, and defense are all aspects of Boki's game that need work. He's still young, so he has time to develop these skills. But, the clock is ticking and he needs to produce now or there will be no tomorrow in the NBA.

I don't know why you guys are so paranoid about pre-season games. Look at the preseason standings, If these preseason games count, then teams like Spurs, kings and Wolves would be in the lottery, and Suns would be #1 seed in the west.
