Barkley did say this on Inside the NBA... "I wish they had those unis when I was there... instead of those awful clown suits.... aren't those retros sweet Kenny?"
How good would Miami be in the West? Chuck was talking about this ridiculous problem of ours about having to surround T-Mac and Yao with pit bulls and pointed out that Miami is just Shaq and Wade and some scrubs too, yet they aren't hovering around .500. I agree with the Chuckster on that. Why does it take a circus game like this to get both Yao and T-Mac to give 100% intensity?
Well, looking at Miami's record vs. the west this year... they wouldn't be very good. Also, you're not alone in the desire to have Yao and T-Mac play with this much passion every night. Maybe Orlando's defense had a little something to do with that... but also, maybe the Rockets (and Yao) shouldn't back down when they face a trapping/fronting defense that tries to take them out of their comfort zone. Tonight, we made Orlando adjust their defense... we made them try to front Yao (unsuccessfuly)... we didn't change a damn thing in our offense from the opening tip. Too often, its the other way around: we try one thing, defense denies it, we decide to try something completely different.... we're the ones constantly adjusting. When you get comfortable enough to go out there and run your offense... no matter what defense they throw at you.... you will be a great great team. The championship Rockets beat you only one way... get the ball to Hakeem, and if they double, we'll beat you with 3's. That didn't change when Barkley came either. Eventually (hopefully), when this team gets ultimately confident in their abilities... they'll be able to do whatever they want on any given night because there's no defense that should be able to contain these two when they're rolling.
I'm totally blowed away by our commitment to the board, especially on the offensive end. That's where we won the game. Steve just made CD & JVG look like a genius with quite a few of his stupid plays. You would think, at 27, he would have figured out that it won't give you any extra point for the degree of difficulty.
I was really impressed with the way we got back on defense. We were really commited to not letting them have a lot of easy baskets.
t-mac didn't even have a great game by his standards. i know he made his comments about not giving it all last season but that was the past. barkley may be somewhat right about the two of them turning it up a little for this game but at the same time i don't really think tracy has mailed it in at any point this season. he's brought it every game, it's just gonna be a while(a playoff series win) before he can shake the label that he's only help create for himself.
Sammy is one of those people that hide behind their monitors...get a self esteem...he's a sensitive guy...cut him some slack, or better yet ignore that troll btw you stfu go play some splinter cell and root for Orlando... or something tool sack...or better yet get a life and quit posting.
actually Cohen.....most of it is fromthe guys who seem to thnk Sura is their new whipping boy....they had Steve last year....now they have Sura. Evidently...Sura hates Yao and refuses to pass to him. nevermind the fact that Sura does pass to Yao...and the other fact that without Sura's fantastic play...we woudnt have won by the margin we did. but hey...lets not let facts get in the way of a good b****fest
seriously, the b****ing about a dude in the middle of a near triple double all 3rd and 4th quarter long was ridiculous. and the stuff about sura was bad, too.
I think they said during the pregame show (610am) that they will wear them four times this year counting the last two games.
I understand that Yao isn't a great defensive rebounder but when the best rebounders on your team are guards he's going to look worse than he really is. You don't like Steve Francis, I get it. Now if he doesn't win a championship, so what? He'll just join the long list of talented players that don't win one, nothing wrong with that, we all know he didn't keep the Rockets from winning one so I ain't mad at him.
One of a more enjoyable game of the season. Both teams played well. Sura, Yao, Wesley were the stars for us. Tmac did not have his shots but played a decent game. The rest of the Rockets played pretty well. Barry got a little touch back. The Majic has a dangerous team. Turkoglu, Hill give them shooters. Howard and Cato could be dangerous if they ever learn to play defense and stop people from walking to the hoop. I was not impressed with Howard, he did not seem to have an offensive game nor he is a monster on the board. Cato was slower than Yao and Deke to the rebound? Steve is as dangerous as always with the dribble. He played as good a game on offense as we've seen, 46 minutes, 28, 7, 9 and 1 TO? If he does that all the time, we would have kept him! His defense has reverted to the Rudy's days, however. He lost Sura all game, allowing a guy on 1 leg to be the leading offensive rebounder of the game, that is just too bad. You know what Orlando needs? ... A coach like JVG. Imagine if he makes that team play defense, they can compete against anyone.
The Magic kinda reminded me of the Rockets last year. When Cato has to score 14, something is wrong. Also Orlando didn't get much production from their bench. Francis and Hill had a good all around game. IMO I think depth will hurt the Magic the most, down the stretch.
Ah shucks, weezy, I thought we were ok, but you were emboldened by the sight of a potential friend at 1:30 AM, you looked in the mirror and said "Self, you know what? I'm not going to let that guy mess with me, I'm going to go post in anger at that, that, that TOOL SACK! Ha, Yeah!" I suggest you and London's burning form a support group.
Great game and great win...I though they were going to choke...btw, the Unis were awesome...I gots to get me some...
