It's pretty bad when THAT performace by the Rockets is viewed as "ouplaying" their opponent.

Wtf should Kobe give kudos to the Rockets? These are the playoffs. Kudos come after the series.

yall newbies are a little testy. You do know that shaq is the most dominate center in the leauge; and that yao is still in his 2nd year and cant really hang with him cause shaq is just to powerful for yao-plain and simple.

Yep, he makes it and we are up 3......that could have been the dagger for the Lakers....well, Mo said that this playoff game was just another game.....go ask him now after they came up short by one point!!! And ask Francis now how much he wished that he would have made both free throws when we were down 69-66 and he missed the second free throw.....and ask Mobly why he takes running jumpers when he is having a horrible night that included a gazillion turnovers.....bottom line...this is not a good basketball team and we can just forget that they will win this series....Oh, and Cato...what a freaking moron!!! He commits the stupidiest fouls.....

"That's a play I know Steve makes all the time," [Jim] Jackson said. "I was ready. I knew once he got to the hole, if he didn't have the shot, he would look for me there. When I let it go, I thought it was in. I thought it was in."

Good, close game. Hopefully we can go back to Houston with the series tied, and the fans better be loud at the Toyota center!

BTW, great defense by Mobley on Kobe!

Rockets had the best chance to get close within 1. Fakers had the chance to win at home.
If Rockest can steal two games at home, that would be great results for this series. Do not expect too much from this team that come to the playoffs the 1st time in 5 years against an opponent that has been in the playoffs year after year with three rings in a row.

yeah, expressed alot of my frustration/sadness in the chatroom

not much left to say in the threads except a real disappointment in the outcome of the game.

we played our asses off, but it came down to just slightly better execution down the stretch by LA and a horrible miss (for us) by bryant at the end.

game 1 is always the game ya want to steal and take the home team by surprise in, but we didn't do it.

hopefully we can make another valiant effort to take game 2

otherwise we have our backs against the wall for the series returning to houston.

Give cat and JJ credits for shut up kobe; give Yao credit for the 2nd half defense; give steve credit for 2nd half offense.

I am a little bit disappointed, but I am proud and confident. Get the game 2 and we can win at 6.

Great game. Bad calls (although it went both ways)
Mo Taylor impressed with his shooting, Mobley impressed with his defense.

Please steve, I BEG you, try to cut down on the turnovers. I just attribute the first 3 to 1st playoff game Jitters, but he was money in the 4th quarter.

Almost, so close. We'll get em Monday.

As usual, we had WAY too many turnovers but overall our guys did a great job.

JVG style basketball is ugly. So, I can live with ugly as long as we win. Tonight was an example. Our defense will suffocate teams to the point that they also play ugly basketball, not it goes into our favor. If both teams play ugly, my money is on a Rockets win.

I was proud of our guys, we stayed with the Lakers, the #2 team in the west till the very end. I am happy with today's game even if it was a loss.

It was the first exciting game of the playoffs this year. We were in the game the entire time and should have won in LA. I have no doubts we will show up strong on Monday, and even stronger on our home court.

    JVG's "style" is not knuckled-headed-turnover-plagued-basketball.

He does enforce defense. That's a given. But do you honestly believe that JVG tells his guys to go out there and and turn the ball over so that they can accomplish the "win ugly style?" What you are seeing is not, "style." What you are seeing are players that CAN NOT execute a simple pass.

I, for one, was proud of the effort in this game. Despite the bad first half, we held our own against the playoff tested Lakers. IMO, playoff experience is a bit overrated, as evidenced in this game. Our inexperienced team took a team with 600 games of postseason experience down to the wire. I think the team now knows how playoff basketball is played and will be able to come out a bit smoother next game.

However, one thing that boggles my mind is the amount of "fans" already writing the Lakers in as the series winner. What good is it being a fan if you don't think your team is gonna win? That's the good thing about being a fan. You don't always have to be rational. I don't even know why some people even waste their time posting? You're either a fan, or not. I'M A MUTHA****IN' FAN!! Go Rockets!

I don't think he is saying that JVG "style" is TOs, but that it is slow, low-scoring, and boring. Sure there were tons of TOs, it was terrible, but we controled the game for the most part. Our D really controlled the tempo of this game, I don't mind that, but I'm sure the TOs will go down.

    Anyways, Good game though.

Besides TOs, which I blame on playoff "Jitters," our D really controlled the game. Steve came through with some clutch shots, JJ's last shot was perfectly set up-just short, our D on Kobe was awsome-just a lucky heave to Shaq.

I usually would be pissed that we lost, but we lost by 1point to the Lakers at home. The TOs will be cut down, but I liked how this was our game to win. Rockets will get one before coming back to the TC.

You know, it is possible to play a half-court (slow) game without it being called "low scoring." The Jazz do it all the time with lesser "stars."

    Execution, execution, execution....

The problem is that we don't have the guards to lead the flow of the offense. We don't.
A Slow-down, half-court game doesn't have to equal inefficient, sloppy, or low scoring.

But how can we have efficiency, if we have clueless PGs on this team? How?

I mean, did you ever think that we might be "low scoring" for a reason? Like we can't excute the pass to make the score in the first place?

    Kellen Winslow?

haha, yeah, I'm amazed at some of you. This is how irrational my love of the Rockets is.

Would I bet my life on that bracket? No ****ing way, but as a fan, I always felt it's your duty to think your team can do the undoable, achieve the unacheivable, attain the...yeah, you get the point.

Any game is "our game" in my mind. Texans? We'll win the game, no matter who it is. Rockets? Ditto. Astros, same. Maybe I just have a warped view of what a fan should be. I always thought a fan was supposed to stick by the team, through thick and thin, till death do you part. Sure, players make mistakes, so do our families, we wouldn't trade our brother for the kid across the street would we. (don't answer that)

Anyway...I just hope some of you will think about what you're doing. Coming here just to bash players, which some who you bash had outstanding games (Mo Taylor for one), and not recognizing anything good the team did? Yeah, I agree with jelanit. Some of you guys need to chill.
