Tim Legler is not a Yao Hater. His analysis is objective and dead-on most of the time.

The Texans have David Carr. The Rockets have Yao Ming. They are both former number 1 pick. They are both 3rd year players. They both play the arguably most important position in their teams. They are both considered to be the franchised players ... A lot of similiarlities there.

I hope that doesn't mean that Yao will lead the Rockets to a sub .500 record upon completion of his third season.

I don't really follow the Houston Texans. Is David Carr getting any heat after 3 seasons with no payoff? Are the Texans fans happy with the performance and production of Carr as a number 1 pick? I know this is not a football forum but I am very curious.

Sorry I know this is off topic, but I think there is a higher degree patience for Carr. Moreso because houston's entire franchise is also in it third year of existence. Who knows, perhaps a higher level of tolerance would be given to Yao if he was on the Bobcats.

But just as many Rockets fans voice their displeasure for Yao. In the Texans last game some unsavory fans took it upon themselves to show their displeasure to Carr's family by dumping beer on his pregnant wife.

It was discussed in the Texans, Astors, Comets Forum on this Site...

Yeah, I understand that there are crazy people everywhere. But instead of looking at an isolated incident, I am more interested in the general mood of the sports fans in Houston. Are they as critical of Carr as they are of Yao? Anyway, let's end the discussion here since it's way off the topic of this thread and also not in the right forum.

What a joke. He's rebounding better and shooting better than he ever has. His scoring is down slightly because he's not the number one option anymore. Lamar Odom is going to make someone an elite team? Good one. There were people who didn't even list the Lakers as a playoff team this year. The main reason - they had no interior defense or offense. Odom is a 3 being forced to play the 4, in the West no less.
