Our two stars didn't have their best games today. It looked like Curry's constant shoving and bumping really took Yao out of his game in the second half; looks like he'll have to readjust to playing with contact. The Knicks did a pretty good job defensively on TMac. Luckily, we had enough guys making plays to win.

Wesley had a good game. Stro had some huge plays in the second half to keep us in front. Rafer had some good passes and some sloppy ones. Juwon was Juwon. Head continues to struggle pretty bad offensively.

I think Chuck Hayes didn't play much because JVG wanted a tall frontline to protect against Curry and the power forward parade.

I think Yao hasn't got his strength back, that's why he got pushed around. He can re-gain the stamina pretty quick, but to build up the strength is going to take much longer. I think he will be in full strength within a month or so.

Stro was really effective in the 4th quater and down the stretch. 6 consective Fts and that last block (Rose tried to fake shooting twice and Stro didn't take the bait) are just awesome.

Yao did not play well overall today. But I like that he did block 4 shots.

    BS...and I'll tell you why...

Yao was kickin butt in the 1st half...against the same style of play. He relaxed...and when he saw that Tracy was going to get it going in the second...he quit.
0-6 on shots in the second half...and that started right off the bat...not late in the game...fatigue and strength diminish later...not in the 3rd quarter...especially not in the beginning.
    His head wasn't in it...

Put it this way...he hits half of the 0-6 and he has 21 pts...he plays more agressively, and he draws fouls and gets rebounds...come on...3 boards? That is effort...and the EFFORT wasn't there.

    He let up.

It's great to talk about how bad was Yao, but a 9 for 26 from Tmac is great in this game!

The Superbowl is always crappy...the only reason I stick around is for the commercials, and since it's Sunday and most people are sitting at home and watching TV anyways.

i love hubie brown. in addition to being very knowledgeable, he might be as big a rocket homer as bill worrell.

You do have to realize that he did go up against Curry. Although he isnt great he is MASSIVE. For someone who just came back from a long layoff, I bet he was FATIGUED.

I was hoping you would comment on Stro`s effectiveness. Who knows the Rockets may overcome their woes, get on a win streak, maybe even accomplish the unthinkable and make the play-offs...Before it is all over with you might be singing the praises of Stro and I might start liking JVG`s coaching style...

I agree. hubie is, by far, the best TV announcer I've heard. He really does a fantastic job.

Agree. I am really appreciative of his commentator job, and certainly enjoy it very much. He doesn't just hype anyone or entertain you, he actually teaches you a lot of basketball knowledge and breaks down the games and plays for fans. It's very helpful for me to enjoy the game even better.

I think him and worrell and other old-fashioned basketball real specialists still see that as a big man's game. They want to see true centers play honestly and take pride in their jobs to fight down low. That's why Shaq and Yao likes to play each other, not to show off to anyone, but rather to play a real center game. Other teams so-called centers just cheat and play dirty when facing real big men, not really to blame them, but just no fun to watch.
