Don't know if you are watching or not but haven't you noticed that Jalen always draws the other teams BEST DEFENDER?
Correct. If we trade for either Booker or Durant at the deadline, FVV pretty much has to be at least one of the guys going out. That's ok, that's why we structured the contract the way we did. I do think the Suns are not going to cooperate. Maybe in the off-season, but I doubt it. We should start planning on this picks not being worth a lot and go after Ant hard in the off-season. Jalen, Cam 6 frps might have a chance. Minnesota in a second Apron team and is in an even worse spot with the Gobert contract than the Suns are with the Beal contract.
I think this sums up last night! Not making excuses because Jalen had some BAD turnovers but I saw several times he drove and got fouled but no calls. However, OUR FANS or SOFs continue to point out what he is not doing? He can't put himself at the FREE THROW LINE. If those calls would have been made, we win the game.
Yeah I dont like Booker anymore tbh. He is too old imo and with the new contracts I dont think he is good enough to be making the supermax. If we pay Amen the max we need to be really selective who is that other max player. My deadline target RN is Lonzo Ball. If we can get him for a 2nd round or low FRP lets do it. Ant is a pipedream unless he says he wants out. Minny is a small market team with small time owners they arent trading their ticket seller. Maybe if we get Cooper Flagg we can trade him for Ant. Thats the only way they part with their money maker.
If Jalen could chill on the late game turnovers and get a fair whistle. Rockets would be working with something. Absolutely mind boggling on some of the calls he did not get, but that they gave to Brunson.
Jalen needs to play smarter. You can see that he's the only player in the league that will throw up prayers with the shot clock running out. No other player does it because they care about their stats. Jalen takes 2-3 heaves a game. I feel like thats Jalen not thinking on the court.
I’ve been saying it for a while now. Jalen Green is literally a younger and more athletic Jordan clarkson.
The Rockets actually led in almost every statistical category last night...except free throws and turnovers...rockets shot better overall and from three...they had a higher volume of shots....had more assists and Rebounds...but the Knicks shot about double the amount of free throws. So last night Jalen amd Amen both drove the ball about 20 times each. Amen drew a called foul 9.5% and jalen 5.5%. Amen was much more effective driving though, mainly because jalen turned the ball over on 25% of his drives compared to 4.8% for Amen. Brunson drove the ball 24 times. He only drew a foul 4.2% of the time amounting to 2 free throws. In fact the Knicks team only shot 6 total free throws from driving the ball. The stat I cant find is fouls drawn when cutting and receiving a pass. Anyways, as drivers Amen and Jalen drew fouls at a higher rate than Brunson did. Holiday didnt play a lot of minutes but had 5 fouls. Tate had 4 fouls in not a lot of minutes as well. Amen and Dillon had 5 each but thats more understandable considering what they are tasked with defensively and the mins they played. Rockets may have gotten screwed with the calls, but it didnt have anything to do with who was more aggressive.
Brunson is one helluva player. I’ve never seen an offensive weapon like that for being just barely 6’. The Knicks with that record has a lot to do his plays and leadership. He’s a damn smart player too. If Jalen Green has his BB IQs, we can win another championship.
Agree with you on Jalen and the playoffs. His future with the Rockets will be on the line. Totally disagree on Tari and Tate. The difference is huge. Tate is better at avoiding fouls and playing within his ability. Tari shoots, scores, rebounds, causes TOs, deflections, etc at a much higher rate than Tate. Based on just this season, Tate's floor and ceiling are both much lower than Tari's.
Last year's Rockets were the kings of the fake comeback (claw back from a 4th quarter deficit then lose a close one). This year's Rockets are the kings of giving up a 4th quarter double digit lead. Hopefully that's just a symptom of a young team not knowing how to close games yet and they will eventually learn. Played well and hard for missing 3 starters. Play with half of this effort tonight and it's an easy win. Bridges was in Jalen's shirt all game, so was frustrating to see him try and beat him 1 on 1 so often but we don't really have many other options outside of Amen, who had a horrendous turnover in the final minute also. Some of those non-calls on Jalen's drives were mind boggling. I was beside myself and the gf who had never gone to a basketball game before kept asking "why wasn't that a foul" lol. Defense has been trending down since Jabari got hurt. Brunson easily walking it in on Amen repeatedly in the 4th was tough to watch. Send help or something, damn!
What does that have to do with my statement? He played better against tanking teams that didn't have any real defenders on the court. He struggles isolating against the top tier defenders in the league and needs a screen to get going down hill. But when he gets downhill his decision making is questionable and since he doesn't get super star calls its usually bad offense. If he got traded to LA he'd probably be the best player in the league cuz Austin Reaves somehow gets all the most ridiculous calls. But here in Houston we can't have a star that dependent on the whistle.
We just need to be smarter in the 4th quarter. The Timberwolves, Kings, Grizzlies, Knicks, hell even that Hawks game we won...we have a double digit lead going into the 4th and then starting getting called for fouls leading to the opposing team to be in the bonus with like 8 minutes remaining. They have trouble scoring on our defense but we bail them out and let them claw their way back in at the free throw line. Same story every time.
