That was a foul. It doesn't matter that he got the ball, he still scrapped yao's face on the way down. Gathering yourself after the shot is part of the shot. It was just a missed call by the refs.

The ball was so blocked by the time the contact occurred, and the contact was incidental - it's because he had blocked it so completely that his hand went into yao's face. That's not a foul man.

Yao took that ball to lay it in instead of taking it for a strong jam, and that's the only way someone 5'8" is going to block a guy who is 7'6". Yao made a mistake and looked very bad for it.

Yao still has room to grow - I mean learn.

Damn, even the opponent coach Isiah Thomas give yao some respects whereas the former rockets (kenny Smith and Barkely) keep on dishing

Is still better than the way 5'3 Bogues swatted Ewing's jumper!

Are you blind? Laying it in? Yao was going up for a two-hand jam. Anyone with a pair of eyes can see it.

Yao was turning to the basket and he didn't see Robinson. Robinson jumped earlier than Yao so he blocked his shot when Yao was on his way up.

I say i'ts the one who can't tell the difference between an attempted dunk and an attempted lay-in.

Yeah, unfortunately, this is what people will remember of Yao this night instead of him DOMINATING the opposing front court. Scrubs like Robinson make a living trying to make a highlight film that night, but at the end of the day, would still be a scrub that can't even start on a pathetic team like the Knicks.

But you know what, I don't think Yao even cares. People label Yao's personality as "soft" because he doesn't go "ghetto". But to me, he is more of a man because he doesn't. He refuses to go down to that level because he is above all that. It seems to be beneath him. And maybe that's why the majority of the "HIP HOP" league doesn't like him.

Yao is like a Chinese Dignitary, HE CAN'T BECOME A THUG. It's like asking one of our ambassadors to China to start wearing gold chains and gold teeth. Not the most distinguished image you want to portray. Yao already TRANSCENDS the sport, he is NOT a regular NBA player so he can't act like the normal NBA thug. HE HAS BIGGER AND WAY MORE IMPORTANT RESPONSIBILITIES than to punk a little 5'8 scrub. People on this board has to see THE BIG PICTURE.

You see a much bigger picture than I do, man. For me, I only have problem with the people who didn't watch the game, just imagined what has happened (or what they wanted to have happened) and then made BS posts on this board.

could Kenny Smith be more of a Yao hater, or for that matter a hater of anyone not African American??

This guy kept going out of his way to trivialize everything Yao did tonight and this season. At one point, his partner mentioned how JVG called his dedication "unusual"...and called his 86% free throw shooting remarkable. All Kenny could say is "big deal...that's what professionals are supposed to do. I don't understand why all players don't shoot in the 80s...mind you, this is the same game where he was kissing Shaq's fat ass.

This is the same Kenny Smith who railed against Euros coming into the league and warned Black players about the invasion.

This guy has the biggest mouth of any scrub player I've ever seen. Why does he hate on Houston so much when he owes his entire broadcasting career to an organization that made him known??

Definitely, imagine you were at his place: Not playing for 10 games and then- suddenly- the coach gives you a chance, and you know: Either I will convince him or will war the bench for the next 30 games. Imagine how anxious and nervous he must have been! Therefore he hardly penetrated, beacause he was afraid of making a mistake. Let him get some confidence and in 4-5 games you will have the REALSPAN!

Actually, his commentary was on point. He called like 5 of T-Mac's shots make/miss, and he was right every time. He also pointed out that he has only two dunks on the year, which is upsettingly low. And yeah, so he just laughed it off and said everyone should make free throws, and that's because that's true.
