David Lee is better than Chuck Hayes, IMO. God, I wish he is a Rox.

Lee has a size advantage over Chuck, but I still think Chuck is more versatile and better defensively..

if you think about, Yao actually had a "mediocre" game in the scale of the new "monster Yao"... Lee played one hell of a game..

Just purely based on the box score stats, I think Lee had a better game. Certainly if you look at what they did per minute.

For most teams it takes a commitee of players to play up against Yao. In this case David Lee was successful but I doubt he can stay with him for 35+ min. Nonetheless I like David Lee and the Knicks need to have him on the floor alot more.

Lee was great, and he certainly got some stops on Yao-- mostly with active denial of the ball.

However it's unfair to say Yao got outplayed because

    1. Yao still got plenty of FTs on him due to the fact that Lee's aggresive play meant some fouls as well. It doesn't look pretty, but it's effective. High % shots baby.

    2. Yao had spent the game carrying a lot of offensive burden against 3 big strong guys and he played more minutes than Lee. One should expect Lee to have more energy than he does by 4th qtr.

you have to ask the guy who had the highest payroll in the NBA last season (and I believe this season too) and the worst record in the NBA (or in the eastern conference) at the same time.. ... the guy who traded his 1st round pick to chicago for Eddy Curry and took Mo Taylor from us...  :D

WAY better. David Lee is really pretty good. Kinda like a white camby, but without the blocks.

I hope so.. I am really glad he's starting to get some kind of rhythm going every game... even though his percentage wasn't that good, but all of the shots he missed were shots he had to force (end of 24 sec, Defense collapsing, having nowhere to go)..

Well said. Anyone who thinks a much smaller player Lee can contain someone who's 8 inches taller and 80 lbs heavier for more than one quarter is an idiot.

btw, did I see Nate Robinson block Yao's shot, or was it just a dream??
even though it was clearly a foul, it would've been a clean block if he didn't come down on Yao and hit him in the eye after the shot...

holy crap, the guy got hops..

I really think that Chuck's absence has greatly affected Yao's game in a negative way... Defense is just collapsing on Yao and fast guards are not allowing us to get comfortable outside shots.. even though he plays inside, Chuck created some kind of spacing to allow Yao to work on the post and the punish defender doubling off of him..

that's not mentioning us getting killed on the Defensive glass...

damn, ESPN just showed the block like 6 times in a row and they haven't even started talking about Basketball yet.. they are still covering Monday night football..

I am pretty sure they're gonna show this more than they showed Tmac's 13 in 35..

ESPN is pathetic... in the game recap, they showed the recap 8 times and then they showed one Three by Luther... freakin r****ds..

my favorite part: "Vasella Spino-les drives to the basket, kicks it outside, Luther Head hit the 3"... freakin r****d.. Vasella?? they need to look up the pronunciation of players' names before the show so they wont embarrass themselves..

I think things like this are one of the reason's Yao gets so little respect around the league. Although people claim it's is race, I suspect it's plays like this that last in people's memories.

Regardless - it's the wins and stats that speak - and we won, and Yao dominated if not with a high shooting precentage - but by getting to the line and hitting a sick percentage.

Might as wel get used to it because that highlight is going down with the Marbury one...to be replayed over and over and over and over....

Yao is my man and I know he has no vertical but he shouldn't be getting his shot blocked by a 5'9 guard.
